Ripping off mike & mike this morning but think it is an interesting question for us fans:

Which fmr Dolphins Great should have a statue and why?

    -Jason Taylor
    -Zach Thomas
    -Duper and Clayton
    -Dwight Stephenson
    -your choice

When I think of the recent dolphins teams, it is hard to seperate Duper&Clayton or Zach and JT, but that is just me.

um the greatest center to ever play the game is who he is. If not for botched knee surgery he would have been around longer

My initial thought is : none of the above.
If I had to pick one, it would be Dwight Stephenson.
Statues should be reserved for all time greats. Neither JT, Zach or the Marx brothers fit that category. Dwight was all-world, but his career was a little short.

Without a doubt Zach Thomas. The little man who could... Zach wear his heart on his sleeve. He gave everything. He loved the Dolphins, He respected the Dolphins, and when it was time to go, he didn't leave for a rival. I own two Dolphins uniforms to this day #13 and #54...

When I think of the Dolphins from 90's and early 2000's I think of Zach.

That would be a vote for "other" FinD.

Jakes' problem is he and Shula had that blow up.

I know, I didn't see the poll when I made the post.

Shula and Scott made up and are cool now.

Simply put, on the day of the team's greatest accomplishment, he was voted the best on the field.

Not too mention he's an all world bad ***. So much so, Chuck Norris calls him, "Sir".

JT and Zach together would be great , in a pose like that too.

I don't see the hate for 99 as some do , he is at worst a borderline HOF'er.

Mark Higgs because the statue would be 10 -20% smaller than the other statues and save money.

Hesitate to say it, but Jason Taylor was the greatest defensive lineman in Dolphins History and it is not even close, Zach T vs Bouniconti or Offerdahl is arguable, but Taylor was our best Dlinemen with no real argument that can be made why he isn't.

    Nobody.

Put out an open-ended offer that the next QB to win a ring for us gets a statue outside the stadium.

While i agree with you that Taylor is the greatest DL in phin history, I think it is not entirely without argument. I think a case could be made for either Bill Stanfill or Bob Baumhower.

Honestly....none of them. Statues are for legends to the league/game. Marino was that but miami hasn't had any other players like that. Theyve had some great players but certainly none at marino's caliber.

Seeing that this discussion is coming from Kareem Abdul Jabbar being whiny with the Lakers not giving him a statue yet.
I argue we rub it in his face even more. I herby nominate:

Seriously though I would vote for Larry Csonka ,our first true offensive star and whose Dolphin records for rushing have still not been broken.

Taylor was so good for so long, from what 1997-2008 and 09? He is up there in all time Sacks leader numbers as well, for most of the 00's Taylor was kind of the Miami Dolphins.

I'd love to see Langer blocking down, Larry Little pulling around and Csonka on a trap up the middle, both hands on the ball, head down. That would be a great statue.

IMO, you can't lump the DEs with the DTs. Taylor was the best DE, and the best DT is IMO a toss up between Manny Fernandez and Tim Bowens.
