Never. They even had the decency to put the Marlins behind the 16-9 Yankees and 16-12 Rangers in the PR today.

I still want to see better support for JJ and better play out of Hanley before declaring this team real.

    For now, they're not fake.

It just seems like they don't support him enough because in the games (2 so far) they don't support him, the bullpen blows it.

Here's to hoping Hanley isn't broken. We need him to be Hanley if we're going to make a run.

    Fair enough.

They've been mostly awesome this year though. Especially the man you didn't care about in Mike Dunn. :shifty:

Yeah it really was considering that every game was close except for Marlins 8-0 win

My blood is boiling for the Josh Johnson v.s. Roy Halladay match up. Marlins could make there way to first in the division.

After the Phils the Marlins schedule is pretty favorable until they play the Rays. Before the Rays the Marlins will play *Team(# of games)

    Nationals (3)
    Mets (2)
    Cubs (2)

Great win tonight against Halladay. It's hard for me to believe Leo is 12 / 12 in save opportunities.

Johnson is without a doubt the best young pitcher in baseball not named Felix Hernandez, give me him over Lincecum anyday.....

I’d say he’s the best young pitcher period.

While obviously both Johnson and Hernandez are great, if I were picking a team and had the option of either guy I'd give the nod to Felix based on the production he puts out in the better league, being 2 years younger and less of an injury risk.

You can't go wrong with either guy though.

In other words, you’re considering factors other than what the guy does when he gets on the mound.

Felix doesn't produce when he gets on the mound?

When you're comparing 2 players at the same position: age, league they play in and health matter. Especially when their stats are similar.

I guess the same way you got that I didn't consider factors for what a guy does on the mound in my last post even though I mentioned Felix's production in a better league and health.

I think JJ is likely the best pitcher in all of baseball right now. I didn’t disregard what you stated, it’s just irrelevant to that basic point. You’re the one who brought up starting a team today, but that’s not what was in contention. Thus, age and health are irrelevant, because it’s a strict comparison of what the two pitchers do when they’re on the mound. And I don’t buy into the idea that Felix is better because he pitches in the AL.

Basically, you’re replying to my opinion with factors that aren’t even a consideration in my conclusion. I agree with you that I would take Felix if I was starting a team today due to his younger age; I don’t agree with you that Felix is the better pitcher because he’s younger or healthier.

I realize by me saying if I were picking a team that wasn't part of the discussion, I was hoping to start up that debate by my comments.

And yes I do agree with you that when you're trying to determine which pitcher is better age doesn't matter (I should have been clearer because when I said it was in regards to my team picking comment) but league and health do. For health the more you're on the field the more you help the team, would you rather have a guy averaging 220 innings or 209 if the stats are similar, one of the main reasons why Felix Hernandez has a higher WAR over Johnson is because he pitches more innings. And when comparing the two pitchers especially when you're trying to compare numbers, I think absolutely AL vs. NL matters. Felix Hernandez faces better competition and better line ups because he pitches in the AL. NL line ups top to bottom are weaker because there's an (almost) automatic out in the 9th spot in the order and there are have been more below average teams in the NL compared to the AL during the lifetime of both guys careers.
