I'd take tj yates 1a and McElroy 1b. But does it really matter, considering the quality and experiance of our vaulted QB coach....I just hope who-ever we choose doesn't get ruined before we get professionals in here (excluding the Defence)
I don't want to touch a QB this year. Bottom line, I want this coaching staff/FO out of here next year. I am fine with what they have done with solidifying the OL and grabbing the RB. Let the rest of the teams trip over themselves grabbing QB's this year....it just means we have a better pool to draw from next year with less comp from other teams. Bring in new coaches who will have a great OL in place with the ability to take a great QB prospect.
The Dolphins already have one back up quality QB on the roster now in Henne. I don't see them needing to draft another QB who has absolutely no chance of ever being a starting caliber QB in the NFL. I see them picking up a veteran QB in free agency who will end up as the starter this coming season. After finishing last in the AFC East this coming season and having a draft position in the top five next year. I only hope the Dolphins trade their entire draft next year and their first pick in 2013 for the opportunity to pick Andrew Luck as their QB of the future.Of course they might just end up with the worst record in the league next year and be able to draft Luck without having to give up any picks. That would be my dream scenario.
Lets roll back the clock and see what you wouldve said if the Dolphins drafted some guy that had no chance of succeeding at 199 like say Tom Brady, right?
Wouldnt mind him at all at this stage of the game. He has the experience, arm, smarts and system all working for him.
There are always the once in a lifetime sixth round QB selection who makes it good in the NFL. Of course for every sixth round QB selection who ends up being a player like Brady. There are hundreds of higher drafted QB's who completely fail in in the NFL. Comparing McElroy and Brady makes absolutely no sense at all. While he is extremely intelligent, he just does not have the NFL arm required to make the throws necessary in the NFL. The Jets just drafted him and I assure you they drafted him only as a possible back up for Sanchez. Not as a QB they expect to be a starter in the NFL in the coming years. I think if he makes the Jets roster this coming season, it will be as the third team QB only. Also I would not be surprised if he ends up being cut by the Jets before the season starts.
