Dude are you serious? What do you expect Ireland to say when asked about Mallett? "He's a drugged up loser."?

That kind of approach only works with Dez Bryant.

But seriously, I'm pretty confident Ireland was just being politically correct.

And I'm one of the very few who still has faith in Henne.

Anybody stop and think maybe this kid has a serious problem? We've all read the rumors of drug use, but if he really did admit to using cocaine it's a huge problem. Cocaine isn't a drug you just try for ****s and giggles, this kid could easily turn into the next Erik Ainge. Did anybody read that article? The guy had a heavy drug problem in college, and then when he started making NFL money it got worse. Mallet is going to be making decent money getting drafted in the third, and he will be sitting on the bench behind Brady. You take a highly competitive guy (who had issues coping with homesickness and change back as a freshmen at Michigan) who has been the starter for two years, make him the number two and it will be hard for him to adjust. All it takes is for one moment of weakness to go to coke to help him adjust, and he's going to have a huge problem. I wanted this team to draft Mallet, especially in the third, but for god's sake stop slobbering all over BB's knob. This kid has just as much of a chance of bottoming out as he does succeeding.

This is why New England is New England and we are Miami. Their front office never drafts or trades scared. No one is fearing for their job and hand wringing over decisions. You know what? This move might fail, but its a huge risk versus reward move, one that if it fails no one in New England will lose their jobs. However in Miami we have a coaching group and front office that are scared for their jobs. So its Oline, the running game and 2nd tier Qb talent, hope to win 10 games if we can kick enough field goals. Something tells me we cap this offseason off by trading way too much for Kolb.

Lets put it this way... Mallet will spend the next few years developing under the best coach in football, the most disciplined team in football, and Tom Brady... so as long as he can clean up his off the field act this dude has a road in front of him that runs in two direction HWY Good as F**k or HWY Good as H*ll... these roads for our qb's dont exist is South Florida, Dan Marino put them in his back pocket and left.

Damn you would think that as a franchise that acquired the best qb of all time as a steal, we would know how essential and valuable a good qb is... but apparently we dont give a shi*

I have no problem with the Patriots taking Mallett. I have stated all along that I thought he would be another Ryan Leaf. I think going to the Patriots does help him in that he will get to sit behind Brady for a few years and perhaps he will learn and mature. While I don't think he would have handled the pressure of being a first round selection with expectations of starting for a team immediately. The Patriots are the type of organization that can bring him along slowly and perhaps in three or four years he might be a decent QB for them. The fact that he did not go until the third round and five other QB's were selected before him, clearly shows that he was vastly overrated by all those on here who wanted the Dolphins to draft him in the first round of the draft.

Not taking Mallet at least in the 2nd round has to be one of the dumbest moves. Taking a mediocre RB vs Mallet? Give me a break. I'd love to hear how Ireland came up with this brilliant idea.

I'd love to hear why you think Ireland would make a pick that greatly increases the chances that he'll be fired.
