Horrible pick imo. Fumbles, not particularly fast or elusive, doesnt really run with authority, doesnt really do any one thing well.
Ah, gave up third, fifth and seventh, not a bad price. We will need FA to fill out the roster though. It's... Sam Madison... nice tribute... classy... Thomas, RB.... wow....
Not too bad to move up, didnt give a lot. However did we really need to? Thought for sure I was going to hear Ryan Mallett. Geuss others were right, dont have an eye on Ryan.
Ok....kinda odd pick if you ask me. I guess they really want another RB bad. Mallet must have not impressed them very much, I mean to fall to basically the 3rd rd and not to take him. Guess they are hoping to get a FA QB at some point
Henne is a lock to start this year. Hopefully the light comes on for him. I see nothing impressive about this Thomas kid BTW -he lacks burst and speed? Ugh.
Don't get trading up for this guy, slower than Ronnie and more fumble prone. If this is there offensive plan Daboll, Henne, Daniel Thomas yikes!
I don't know much about Thomas but seems a bit much to give up 2 additional picks just to move up 18 spots. Especially when we could of gotten a good RB at pick 80. I guess I'm just confused on that trade.
Great pick. we needed a do it all RB, and we moved up for the best one on the board. You guys forgetting we have no one besides Lex? lol
Complete waste of draft picks and this FO just doesn't get it. A 3rd round projected RB and you give up draft picks to take him? Bull****. **** I can't stand this entire regime.
He's actually about mid-2nd round value. I don't know what you're talking about. They gave a fifth and a seventh big deal. They don't like Mallet, move on (this coming from someone who wanted them to draft Mallet badly). I think they'll trade up again for a RB, this team a big play one in the early fourth or late third.
I'm gonna laugh because Thomas would have been there at our original pick in the third but no. We trade our 3rd, 5th and 7th!! Just makes me wanna go
I don't care if they don't want to draft Mallet. I'm mad about giving up picks to draft a average at best prospect at RB. There would have been a fine RB at their pick in the 3rd. Maybe even Thomas for Christ sakes.
I was honestly hoping to get Taiwan Jones or Jordan Toddman in the 4th or 5th. Jones is just nasty fast and could be a big play maker on special teams and at RB. on that note.......Mallet goes to the Pats! How did I know this was going to happen as soon as the third rd started. This bothers me...
I have to admit that I know nothing about Thomas except he was the leading rusher for Kansas State the last two seasons. In checking some of the scouting reports on line. It appears he is not extremely fast and does not catch the ball very well out of the backfield. He is also reported to run very high and he has FUMBLED the ball 11 times over the last two years in college. Since I really don't know anything more about him than the information in these scouting reports. I have to wonder what the Dolphins see in him that would lead them to trade much of their remaining picks for him. Of course as I have stated many times on this forum. I have no confidence in the people selecting players for the Dolphins, so it does not surprise me that they would pick a running back with the serious flaws Thomas seems to have.
Don't know about that one. Good kid, productive, great size, can catch well (he is actually a solid receiver that can catch poor throws cough...Henn...cough), and has decent speed (4.55). Wildcat QB aw **** even mentioning that part though. He's basically Ronnie a couple years ago without the elite burst when he was very young, but with better burst than he had the last couple of years plus he's more decisive. Behind a good line he's a consistent 4.3-4.4 YPC, efficient goal-line workhorse back. Not bad. Not great. Needs a compliment like a Kendall Hunter or a Jordan Toddman.

I thought they admitted that we needed SPEED? And did we really need to trade all those picks to get him? There's a good chance he would've been there in the 3rd round, and if not there were still some good RBs. Oh and he's had hamstring problems. Just don't think they needed to do all that for him.
This pick is really pushing me to the brink. This season will be an epic disaster. New regime and Andrew Luck, here we come.
I really hope they didn't pick him for the wildcat. Congrats New England Patriots, 2011 AFC East Champions!
Interestingly enough, the 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder that Miami traded away were used by Denver and Washington to select players from the University of Miami.
I was intrigued by the idea of getting Mallet at this pick. But just thinking short term, does anyone really think Mallet would step in right away and be better than Henne or any vet we pick up? Its possible but I think it would be a little unlikely. I've soured a lot on Henne. But he does have NFL experience. If Pouncey and this running back improve the running game just a little I think Henne will play at least a little better. And that would make us at worst a 7-9 or 8-8 team.
So glad we didn't get Mallett. With Daniel Thomas...I wasn't high on him before the draft (had him rated like 7th or 8th out of all the RBs), but he reminds me of a tad bit slower Beanie Wells. With a good offensive line, he can be a great back in the league imo. I just hope we compliment him with another solid RB to take some of the load off his back or he will end up like Ronnie.
