First I've heard the news. Very sad. Brings back many good memories, as he was one of my favorite Dolphins players back in the day. In fact, he was one of the reasons I became a Dolphan in the first place. I was a Redskins fan up until the Phins beat them in SBVII, and I've been an avid Phins fan ever since. I never heard him broadcast games as I'm not a Miami local, but I've heard sound bites. I bet he was a terrific announcer. I'm sure he will sorely be missed in the community, by his friends and colleagues, and of course...by his family. RIP Mad Dog. My prayers go out to your family.
Way too young to go. Such a great player and person, and an awesome voice on the Dolphins radio network. I'll miss hearing it on Sundays this fall. RIP Mr Mandich.
Just came across this thread, I am embarrassed in sorts for not knowing this yesterday. Then again, I live in Texas and it is not big news here if it is not Dallas. What a sad day for Dolphin fans everywhere, Jim “The Mad Dog “Mandich was a part of my Dolphin experience growing up. Things just won’t seem the same on game day.
God Speed Jim....Dolphins fans everywhere should/will dedicate the first drink they consume tomorrow to this consumate professional...
RIP Jim. Before the days of paying for NFL broadcasts and we only had 1 game a week on TV over here his enthusiasm and detailed play calling got then kept me interested in the Dolphins. Will be sorely missed both sides of the pond.
Sad day for all Dolphin fans. He was "OUR" guy who spoke with his heart and loyalty. May he rest in Peace and prayers to his family
