So Ryan Mallett is this year's Tebow? I'll have to disagree. IMO Tebow went higher than expected b/c he's the exact opposite of Mallett, questionable QB skills, but immaculate off the field and w/ intangibles.

No, he's just a draft pick that may go higher than the majority in the media think he will.

exactly, most fans were shocked when Alualu & Tebow went so high b/c they didnt have them rated as such....... so all these same fans will be surprised yet again when Mallett doesn't go as high as the fans think. :tongue2:

A lot of analysts thought Alualu was a talented player, but just wasn't worth a pick that high. IMO that's different than dropping the guy because of serious concerns.

I dont think it's lost on these draft gurus that there are QB needy teams out there. If they don't Mallett as a first rounder it's b/c they don't view him as an elite prospect. Obviously a lot of people here disagree, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

It is part of what makes the draft fun. Sometimes players go exactly where people think they will, other times Raiders select Heyward-Bay or McClain. Also no one had Donte Winter to the Bills. Every year there are surprises that draft gurus never saw coming.

I rarely put too much stock into their opinions, since they are also used to pass bad information.

Unfortunately, I agree with Joe. We all want a QB or RB, or even an OL but this FO usually goes the other way.

I hope they trade this pick and move down in an effort to pick up a second round pick. If they do have to make a pick at number 15. They should pick the top player on their board no matter if it is a defensive player or an offensive player. While the need is more on offense, it would be a terrible move to pick a player on offense if there are more highly rated defensive players at this selection. I see no QB who will be left at this selection which I feel the Dolphins should use this pick on. If Newton and Gabbert are off the board. All the other QB's in the draft are no better than 2nd round picks at best. I see Mallett as the next Ryan Leaf and if the Dolphins choose to select him. This will set the Franchise back at least three more years.

Also remember which WR was drafted first. When I suggested a couple months before the draft that he could go before Bryant I was totally shot down.

IF, If, if, we stay at 15 IMO we go QB or pass rush. So either Mallett, Ponder, Smith or Quinn.

If we trade down it depends how far down we go.

This is true. We do seem to like our guys with an injury history, so I could see it happening. :shifty:

I wouldn't touch Ponder before the 3rd. With the most importation position on the field, I want a guy I know is gonna be on the field, especially when the game will only become more physical.

Pouncey. I really don't want a QB or RB with the 15.

I'm thinking along the same lines. They'll pick someone at a position that isn't in greatest of need (but probably not unneeded since the phins need alot of help mind you), someone who sucks, or is unpopular. Regardless of what happens I'll probably wind up doing a lot of angry screaming on d-day. I just hope my tv survives. :/

Pouncey is the odds on favorite to me. The one guy I would draft if he somehow was still available is julio jones. mallett i could live with though i think its a hell of a roll of the dice. costanzo is my dark horse

If we get stuck at 15 and we dont take a RB our next chance to take one is at 79 and I think all of the top tier guys will be gone. And seeing as though we need two new backs, I think we'll be hard pressed to find them that late in the draft. It's almost like we HAVE to trade down.

That's the thing, top teir should be used lightly considering all the success backs from late rounds to undrafted guys have faired.

    Safe Pick...Pouncey

    Biggest Reward/Bust Pick...Colin K.

Pick I am okay with....Leshoure (if it is a RB, I would want him, followed by Williams, then Ingram)

What I think will happen.....they trade down, and whatever happens happens...

There is a good possibility that they dont pick at all on Thursday....

I keep hearing about T Jones too, and he seems interesting, a playmaker Miami really needs, however I hear he is incredibily injury prone, and if they sign D-Will, I believe they will go with more of a power back in the draft to complement D-Will or even Sproles....

Despite all of the draft analysts predictions it only takes one team liking a player for their predictions to go awry .That team will sandbag that info so we are not likely to know until the actual draft .

I think we trade down and use our first three picks on offense .Skill positions and OL.

I'm guessing we won't be able to draft down and that we will draft Ryan Mallet.

My second guess is Mike Pouncey.

I just watched Mark Ingram go down the field against south carolina, to win the game, all rushing, adding to his 265 yard performance on the nite, half of it was out of the wildcat, and he literally had to be helped off the field because of exhaustion..

The man is worth our pick.

if we think we can trade down a little and still get him, for me I am all over it, and if we cant, its either him or QB..

I suspect we trade out with the Ravens or Steelers, I think if Jimmy Smith makes it past the Lions the Ravens will call, and the Steelers will move up for the right player and supposedly want Dline help and the Eagles have the firepower to move up to take Smith as well and all 3 need corner backs.

If we stay there I'd like Ryan Mallet if we move back Ingram or Gabe Carimi (sigh) would be fine

I still maintain that our primary desire is to trade down, at least once - and potentially again out of the 1st RD, to collect 2 X draft picks between 2-4 ....

That being said, IF we are forced to pick at 15: I still do not anticipate RB/QB @ 15 ....

We have really only had PW for only 1 true 1st RD OL -- Pouncey ...
We have worked out several SOLBs -- Quinn or Smith ... Quinn was rumored to visit - but unconfirmed
We have worked out 2 X DT/NTs -- Luiget or Wilkerson

IF we trade down to late RD1/early RD2:

QB becomes a possibility -- Mallett, Ponder, CKap
RB becomes a possibility -- Ingram, LeShoure, Williams
    CB becomes a possibililty -- Smith ...
    G expands -- Hudson or Rackely ...

While Pouncey appears to be a good interior offensive lineman. He is not the same dominant player his brother is. He was an average center in the SEC last year and in 2009 he was only a second team SEC player at the guard position. I think that drafting Pouncey at number 15 would be mistake. If the Dolphins trade down into the late first round and are able to pick up a second round selection. I could see them taking Pouncey if they are drafting in the late 20's in the first round. If they don't trade out of the position, the Dolphins will have much higher rated players on the board which they should select before taking Pouncey.
