Yeah. And that atrocious defense. Harrison, Woodley, Hampton, Taylor, Smith, Polamalu, Farrior, Clarke, Kiesel, AWFUL. And those garbage skill position guys, Ward, Holmes, Miller, Mendenhall, Parker, Bettis, GARBAGE. Bruce Arians? Bafoon. Dick Lebeau? Total moron. If it wasnt for Benthey'd have been lucky to even make the playoffs.

Wait. Polamalu was there in 08 and they won the Super Bowl? He was hurt in 09 and they missed the playoffs? He was back in 2010 and they made the Super Bowl again? They went 3-1 w/ Batch and Dixon at QB this year? Holy crazy coincidences Batman, I think we're onto something!!!

which one? the 2005 one that had the 5th best rushing attack with 13 more rushing TDs than we had last year? The one where he only had to throw the ball 268 times because he had the 3rd ranked scoring D that limited opposing QBs to a 74 rating?

Or are you referring to the 2008 SB year where his "atrocious line" caused him to have only 17 TDs, 15 INTs, 7.0 avg, 3300 yards, and 80 QB Rating?..... the same 2008 team that had the #1 scoring Defense (13.9 ppg), the #1 pass defense (156 ypg, 5.4 avg, 12 TDs, 20 INTs, 63 QB rating, and only allowed 23 receptions of 20+ (ranked #1)

What was Marino's excuse for not winning or performing well in 1989 (56% completion, 3997 yards, 24 TDs, 22 INTs, 76.9 QB rating) when we went 8-8 and the ground game coincidentally racked up 3.3 avg, 83 yards/game, 10 TDs....... compared to our 1984 SB season when the ground game totaled 4.0 avg, 120 yards/game, and 18 TDs?

Did Marino regress and simply forget how to win in 1988 & 1989 when he threw 52 TDs to 48 INTs, 57%, 7.3 avg, 79 QB, and a 14-18 record compared to his rookie season of 20 TDs, 6 INTs, 58%, 7.5 avg, and 96 QB rating (2nd highest of his career) when we went 12-4?

Honestly, was rookie Marino better than 6th & 7th year Marino?...... or instead, did the 1983 NFL's #1 scoring defense that had 26 INTs and 49 sacks, while limiting QBs to a 70 QB rating have something to do with it when compared to the 1989 22nd ranked scoring defense with 15 INTs, 39 sacks, and a QB rating allowed of 86? How about a 1983 ground game that averaged 134 yards/game with 16 TDs vs the 1989 one with 75/game and 11 TDs?

I like Mallet, if we pass on him so be it but it won't be because of this non issue. I just don't see the reason to keep insisting on bashing the kid over something that just didn't happen.

This. I'm not sure there's anyone in this forum who is supporting Henne b/c we're in love with the guy or something. People seem to liken us to a boyfriend who's in denial about his girlfriend being a pill-popping smack addict. That's just not the case.

Henne's 2010 season is just like anything in life that deals with success and accomplishing goals. The more obstacles there are in the way, the harder it gets. If the path is clear, then success becomes easier. 2010 for Chad was like mountain biking downhill on rocky terrain with a ten speed; meanwhile, Freeman, Flacco, Ryan, and Sanchez were on a smooth cement side walk. It's not like we're blaming our defensive line, linebackers, or something else unrelated.

The Steel Curtain is in full effect and the ground game is working...... and Ben looks like a HOFer and make 3 SBs. The Rusty Curtain and a mediocre ground game kicks in and he looks average and they don't make the playoffs.

YOU said it didn't happen. The respected reporter who broke the story emphatically states that it DID happen and the local Charlotte reporter confirmed it. Regardless of whether he was drinking or so forth isn't the significance of it. What's significant is he was out late before a meeting with the team picking #1 overall and then didn't have the stones to show up because he was "sick".

Do you think it gets any easier in the NFL?

Can players call Roger Goodell the morning of a game and be like:
    Mallett-- "Yo Rodge, peep this...."
    Goodell-- "I'm peepin".
Mallett-- "I got the flu today and dont think I can make the Pats game. Can we reschedule for next Wed?".
Goodell-- "Sure, no prob, Ryan. You prefer afternoon or night?"
Mallett: "Night game so I can sleep in." "Hey, and whenever you need some points shaven, just let me know b/c I gotchu." :shifty:

Maybe he needs to pick another profession if he thinks he believes it's ok to just call in sick whenever he wants despite a billion dollar franchise and world wide fanbase resting on his shoulders. Just sayin.

Who said anything about defense? We're talking QB here. And we had the 6th best defense and didn't win squat or came close to sniffing anything. They had the crappiest oline in the history of olines, and a 27th ranked running game. And they won. What are the excuses for our team last year? Was it defense? Or was it oline and running game? I thought so.

Again, what's up with the defense deflection.

They had an elite defense, and they won. We had top 6, and we sucked. Don't try to sweep what Ben did that year. He had mediocre numbers behind the worst Oline I can imagine in a long time. that oline was atrocious. That kind of oline woudl kill Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning, and that was my original point.
