I think this type of simulation is fine and IMO is a better indicator of leadership than any of those Combine workouts/drills. The only reason Dalton is downplaying it is obviously because he had a poor showing.
There's a whole lot more reason to be embarrassed by some of the stuff posted in this thread than there is by the actions that prompted it in the first place.
Brian Daboll: It's $10 for a BJ, $12 for an HJ, $15 for a ZJ... Andy Dalton: What's a ZJ? Brian Daboll: If you have to ask, you can't play quarterback.
My wife and I got back together over 18 months ago man. Damn it man, don't you read the newsletter? Jesus.

Is that a list of guys you've heard of who played for the Dolphins recently? Most of that is completely unjustifiable as a negative.
Luke McCown, Ernest Wilford. There are more. But that Pat White pick. that one takes the cake. that one covers like 10 successes. If you make a sound pick that doesn't turn out, sure fine. If you make a stupid pick and it doesn't turn out, you have some splainin to do!
We flipped McCown for a pick I believe, and he really didn't cost us anything. You're right to name Wilford though.
A lot of those were ST guys and 2nd or 3rd stringers. Every team has players like this and every team has misses in FA and the draft.
i love jake long, i really do, he is a SOB tough mofo and will probably enter the hall of fame when its all said and done, but with what we know now how matt ryan has developed in atlanta, i don´t know with a not to embarrising vernon carey as our LT and matt ryan under center over henne, i think our offense wouldnt be that big of a problem right now
While you are correct when you note that many of the misses the Dolphins have experienced in the last three years were ST and 2nd and 3rd string players. The problem with the Dolphins today is that many of the starters on the Dolphins would be nothing but ST and backups on the better teams in the NFL. Especially the starters on the offensive side of the ball. Other than Long, and Marshall on offense. Every other starter would be no better than 2nd team players for the top tier teams in the NFL. This lack of quality starters is the fault of Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano. While I accept that the talent is better than it was when Parcells took over the organization. I think that just about anyone with NFL experience could have improved what was the worst team in the NFL in 2007. All Ireland, Parcells and this group in charge of the team have done so far is bring the fans of Miami a mediocre product on the field. To really understand how badly these men have mismanaged the draft and free agency. All you have to do is look at the teams who were also in the bottom of the draft in 2008. After the Dolphins selected Long, the following teams selected players based on their losing records in 2007. The Rams, Falcons, Raiders, Chiefs, Jets, Ravens, Bengals, and the Saints. When you compare the Dolphin roster of today to the rosters of these other losing franchises in 2007. It is evident that all the GM's of these organizations have done a much better job of drafting and selecting players in free agency than the Dolphins have done in the last three years, except perhaps for the Bengals. Actually I would take the roster of the Bengals compared to the Dolphins right now because the major problem with the Bengals is not the players. It is the organization. The rest of the teams who drafted right after the Dolphins in 2007 are all legitimate playoff contenders in the NFL now, while the Dolphins are fighting to remain a mediocre team at best.
Dude your going to give yourself an ulcer or worse by worrying about petty stuff like this all the time. It is what it is and you nor I have any bearing on who runs or coaches this team.
Their future potential is not that great if Michael Turner has another dud year like he did in 2009. Just in case you haven't paid attention to Atlanta over the past three years, when Michael Turner runs well, they win. When he doesn't, they lose. Some quarterback they have. I find it funny that people want to call him a franchise quarterback when his worst season as a passer came when Turner got only 171 carries and the Falcons couldn't run the ball well. Also, you saw what happens to Atlanta in the playoffs when you take Turner away from them. They get beat. Matt Ryan cannot beat you with his arm. Maybe he will down the road, but he's a highly overrated quarterback at this point and is clearly not a franchise guy. Good QB, I'll give you that. Franchise/Elite guy, no. There are only 5 legit franchise quarterbacks in the NFL (Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers). Three time Pro Bowler and 2 time All Pro. Personaly, I value the all pro selection more because the fans have no say in that vote. Well, you still have some on here that do not feel Brandon Marshall is a diva or a problem.
I dont see what the big deal is. How is this an embarassment? He wanted to test how the kid would respond to being put on the spot by a Diva WR.
This isn't unusual at all. My own employer does it when interviewing potential customer service managers - they bring in people to roleplay angry customers, angry employees, etc to see how the manager reacts. Perfectly legit. This is about the last thing we should be concerning ourselves about.
These sorts of things are usually not just dreamed up by an organization internally. When I took a pre interview for the Austin PD I was made to sit in a room and shown a film that had a brief scenerio.....When the scenerio ended, I was expected to act....... WTF....I'm supposed to interact without....You know....INTERACTING?! It was probably the most stressful thing I've ever done. I still, to this day never know how I did on that test, because I joined the military. I assume people that know stuff more than us make these tests. It's no more dumb than any other drafting tools.
It's actually not. ... Well, no more than the Sr. Bowl, the 40...225 repetitions....etc. Police departments, and I'd venture to say other LEOs do just this thing. "Lets sweat him and see how he reacts." I'm GREAT at interviewing. I mean...I'm GREAT......One time when I sweated during a vetting process was for Autin PD and I was told to do the deal I posted a couple of posts up. My hands stared sweating, my heart started pounding because, I was put in a situation where I didn't know what I was "supposed" to do. It's all a crapshoot..But people have different ways of tossing "Lucky" dice.
Wow i am speechless,we have trying to build an offensive line for 3 years and we might be set at two postions lt,rt and the right tackle they didn't even draft. When they finish 7-9 again you tell me how well they evaluate talent.Sorry but i have higher expections going into year 4.
This is not a big deal, and not sure how you can claim no other team has done it. Everything with QB's is trying to understand their mental makeup, as the physical tools are more tangible, and I am sure teams try different things each year to better understand it. I do think it is weird, but don't think it reflects badly on the organization.
IMHO that had more to do with coaching/game planning than talent evaluation. EDIT: The 7-9 record that is.
Don't get wrong i hated the oc but that does not change the fact we have no talent on the interior line.Blame that on talent evaluations.I don't want to even go there about qb evaluation.
I think you've understated the talent we have on offense. Bess would be a starter on pretty much every team. Fasano is at least a solid #2 TE and would probably start on a good amount of other teams. Carey would be a starter on most teams. Polite is a top FB. Brown and Williams are fading, but were a great tandem just a year ago. Not picks by this regime though, obviously. You're overstating the talent of other top offenses. Why can you insert anyone into the Colts and Patriots offense and still have it be potent? The Dolphins have hit on a high percentage of their draft picks and are building the team the right way from the ground up. You can argue the Pat White pick, Turner, and even Henne if you want.. but they have picked up a lot of good players on both sides of the ball. Look at the defense now compared to what they were handed when they got here. Night and Day. And built through the draft, save for Dansby. And you really mean to tell me you think the Rams, Bengals, Chiefs and Raiders all have more potent offensive rosters than us? Take a look at their starters and tell me what exactly you think is so superior to the Dolphins. Talk to a Bengals fan. Their team is perennially in shambles. I don't know why you keep on going about the 2007 draft, considering that was the Cameron regime. I'll play along though. #10 - Texans #11 - 49ers #12 - Bills #13 - Rams #14 - Jets (Who traded up from 25 with the Panthers who should be here) Panthers, Rams, Bills, 49ers, and Texans. Only team worth a damn on offense on that list is the Texans. You're telling me you'd trade rosters with all of these teams?
A non-issue in my opinion considering some of the other embarrassing things that are part of the Dolphins past. That list would be too long to mention IMO.
Bill didn't know anything about it, it was an assistant jr intern coaches friend who was just taking some video for you tube, nothing official or in any way associated with a honestly operated organization like the patsies... honest.
i like that the organization is doing their due diligence. dalton was probably shocked that daboll was acting that way ,but that was the idea to see how he responded. i think everyone reads into this stuff wayyyy tooooo much.
