Do you guys think we willl draft a QB? I know what some of you will say we have John Beck. But some of you also want to draft a RB we have Ronnie who is proven.

Maybe. But not in the first round, first day, or even early second day. Probably with a sixth rounder.

Why woould we not use the first pick to take a QB and if we were not to take a QB what would we take.

sixth rounder? Thats funny, I guess Trent Green and his 7 interceptions are all we need. Oh yeah don't forget Lemon with his 4 turnovers a game. Finally we can definitely go all the way with Beck fumbling every snap and never throwing a touch down. Sure the sixth round sounds great.

Hopefully we will have a new coach and GM that knows how important the quarterback postion is and not some of these fans that are still sleeping.

Well, to speak for myself, and in my opinion...

1). When you draft quarterback in the first two rounds of draft, that basically should make him the QB of the future. That QB deserves a good amount of time before we even think about what QB we should take.

2). Well, that depends on what we do with the pick. If we keep it, then we should pick Glenn Dorsey improve of running stopping ability and pass rush as well, but mostly the run stopping (or lack thereof). And if we trade it in a scenario, like say... the popular Dallas scenario (Their two 1st Rounders, second rounder, and their 2009 1st rounder), then I think we should pick a pass rusher like Quentin Moses and a cornerback in the first round.

John Beck is still a rookie. If every GM thought the way you did, Peyton would have been gone after his 28 interceptions, so would John Elway after only going 7 and 14. I could go on.

i have to say yes and maybe right away, beck looked very small on the field and physically overmatched, i am concerned about his physical skills in the NFL.

There is one problem with your argument about Elway and Peyton. They were drafted in the first round. Thats why their teams were patient. Beck is a long way off from winning games for us.

If we do the trade scenario with Dallas, we HAVE to take a QB with one of those picks. If Beck fails, we have no other options on the table. If Cam stays, its likely we will, considering in SD he had Brees and Rivers. I think its just smart to have 2 QBs in development. I mean, for example, if the Jets hadn't put all their faith in Pennington, they couldve had an insurance QB, something we dont have.

insurance policy is a good idea, there is alot of time to see if there is a franchise QB out there, if there is you have to draft him

I would say get that guy out of Hawaii. We might be able to trade down and still get him.

McNabb would not work out for us. He would be another Culpepper. Not to mention this is not a West Coast offense.

I hope its not Mueller making the first pick for us. Who knows what will happen, maybe another special teamer or a running back we don't need.

WE WILL NEVER GET A FRANCHISE QB UNLESS WE QUIT BEING CHEAP AND PONY UP SOMETHING MORE THAN A SECOND ROUND PICK BUT I MUST ADMIT IT WOULDNT MATTER IF WE DRAFTED ONE THIS YEAR BECAUSE WE ARE STILL GOING TO STINK UP THE PLACE BUT WE DO NEED ONE I DON'T THINK BECK WILL EVER BE THE REASON WE WIN GAMES AND YOU NEED A QB WHO WILL PUT THE OFFENSE ON HIS BACK AND WIN GAMES FOR US I KNOW WE HAVENT SEEN MUCH OF BECK BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING SPECIAL FROM HIM IN COLLEGE EITHER

There is no QB that offers "#1 pick" value. We are taking Long or Dorsey.

I would like to see us grab Brennan if he's available at #32 though.

If we have a new head coach, he will likely want to draft his own QB.

    inching to 100k posts

I would say "no" as all of the top QB prospects seem to be the same player, large pocket passers with big arms that are careless with the football.

Woodson had the nice string of games without an interceptions, then when the streak was broken, the Int's came in bunches.

    Ditto Ryan at BC

Brohm looks like the best of the crop, his team played worse this season and he managed to play through the adversity.

A Qb like Ainge is interesting later in the draft..

I would not mind Glenn Dorsey but we NEED a QB bad.Dorsey the only person I would take over a QB but then if choose Dorsey we need to some wheeling and dealing to get another pick in the first round to get

    Top QBs:
    Brian Brohm
    Matt Ryan
    Colt Brennan
    John David Booty
    Chad Henne
    and Andre Woodson

Ryan or Brohm would be a great signal that this team is serious about getting the future right. There are virtually no other QBs worthy of being taken. Flacco has zero mobility, Brennan has no experience in an NFL type offense. Woodson is boom or bust

We have the rest of the draft and free agency to address defense and offense. Draft a QB with our first and spend the rest of the draft adressing our other needs

how do you know that for a fact? Who cares if they were first rounders, the point is that Beck is expected to be our future qb. Joe Montana was benched first year and Elway was benched second year and they turned out pretty good.. Beck has only started a few games this year so you cant just say that hes gonna suck arse for the rest of his career and should not get a chance. Give some time. But since mueller beleives that it is best to draft a qb every year, i think we should take henne as late as possible

I say draft Dennis Dixon. He'll likely drop because of his knee injury but he is very talented. Just let him take the year off to rehab his knee.

there is no point in drafting a QB right now to be honest. we are a good five years away from contending for a division title.

any qb we put in right now is going to look bad. our o-line is average at best, our WR are the worst in the league, and we have the worst offensive coaching in the league.

i think if Colt that kid form Hawaii is there the 2nd or 3rd round we should draft him he is a really good QB i would much rather have Woodson in that sencond but he wont be there

Hear Hear. With Beck already this old (Older than Ben Roethlisberger!), we need someone who actually has the time to be developed. I don't really see a skill position (DT's picked before the 5th pick usually don't make up their value) player worthy of that #1 pick sans McFadden. Maybe 4th or 5th but not #1. It's time for Mueller and Co. to realize a potential mistake and try to hedge their bets.

Its has to be Chris Long or Glenn Dorsey with the 1st pick and right now I'm leaning towards Long and possibly draft Brennan at #32 if he is still there even though there will likely be a player that can really help the defense such as a corner or linebacker or an offensive lineman.

If we draft a qb, and I hope we do, I want it to be in the 3rd or 4th round...not too early but a guy with potential. i don't follow colege ball so I don't know who it should be...but we do need another QB ot two around here...because Trent should be done....

I would honestly love to see Miami make a trade for Derek Anderson, a big quarterback with a rocket arm who has proven himself unlike the quarterbacks Miami usually brings in.

After all of that post draft hoopla it would be funny to see him end up in Miami in the long run.

I don't know if he's actually proven or if his success is tied to Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and Jamal Lewis's breakouts. Put those 3 plus Joe Thomas, Eric Steinbach, and Hank Fraley on our line and I think we might be better than we are now.

I hope for chrissakes we draft a QB, it's a great year for late round QBs IMO ...and early rounds of course... you got

    Ryan
    Brohm
    Woodson
    Brennan
    Henne
    Booty
    Flacco
    Ainge
    Dixon
and Sam Keller who is borderline IMO...

If we can get Flacco, Ainge or maybe Henne with our 4th rounder (98th overall) i'll be very happy... you gotta have competition at the position and even though veteran free agents do bring this for Beck, a rookie QB brings him a more long-term competition
