If the lockout continues to the fall, and games are missed, I'd say it would be similar to the last baseball strike. MLB isn't as popular as NFL even since before that strike, and did that strike hurt MLB in the long run? I know a lot of fans who claim they never follow baseball now to the degree they did before the strike. The immense popularity of NFL football probably means if would recover much better than baseball did. Still when I watch baseball on television I see a lot of pretty full stadiums. I guess some folks will stay away for a short term, but the dyed in the wool football addicts, will not be able to stay away as the lure of the game is as strong as the desire of heroin is to a junkie

With as many years as you've been on here and FinHeaven, if I remember right before that, you dont need to defend yourself at all about your loyalty here to this organization brother.

Times are tough, people are going to vent, it is what it is. That is all there is to the situation.

Nah, no thanks, I was thinking of other things I could do. More constructive things, like helping out with some of the investigations the dept. is working on and needs some extra man power.

However, if having another opinion other than yours makes you have an aneurysm and go off into an internet tough guy rant then the definition of class must be changed in the dictionary for sure!

I was waiting for someone to try to explain the obvious to me. Thanks for taking the bait
Once again it is not about the posting and the website. If you are going to boycott the NFL and purge it from your life you should do it all or nothing otherwise it is hypocrisy.
If you have it both ways you are on the fence which seems to be the case here with most of the mouth breathers who are screaming from the rooftops that they are giving up the NFL.

  5. Its not hypocrisy to reign in the absurd amount of money the leauge collects by folliwing the sport in ways that are less profitable to the leauge.

So your loyalty to the team and the NFL is measured by how many years you have been on a website. That is brilliant! :chuckle::wink2:

I have no idea what you are talking about but if you want to be a traitor and turn your back on your team then enjoy. I'll be here with a beer in my hand rooting for the team I've been loyal to for over 35 years. Your loss.

I was perhaps the first on the board to mention the obvious:
that the fan-base which is the economic engine, the third rail of football
is not represented @ any level in these proceedings.
I believe 51% of a NFL team should be owned by the fans & respective franchised cities.
this could be facilitated & encouraged in the overall marketing of the franchise
by using a percentage of anything sold under the auspices of the NFL to that end:
percentages from season tickets, pay for view, broadcasting rights, any game ticket, official attire, etc.
until the fan-base reaches 51%. lets get into a little profit sharing & real ownership across the board.
GreenBay has the right idea & if we were a league of Packers
instead of being a league where an owner can pack-up & leave @ his own discretion,
the NFL & fan-base would be the better for it. we need to address the issue.

without the third-rail there is no NFL, contract disputes or professional football ...

I think getting riled up in this is silly.

We'll miss some football while people are dealing with their livelihood.

Who cares if people are or aren't paid what their worth, as long as they dance for our amusement. God forbid, any issue gets in the way of a few hours of entertainment a week, or we'll get up in arms and revolt!

The owners secured a TV deal before a new CBA took place...knowing the CBA would expire soon...and have used part of those profits, along with the player fines Goodell had imposed on the league past few years...to finance this lockout. In order words, Goodell and the owners colluded against the players, planning on locking them out this year and use the economy as an an excuse to lowball the players into accepting a much smaller slice of the pie, even though the pie has indeed been growing as the NFL has never been popular. Since they have the TV deal in place, they essentially have leverage against the players as the owners are guaranteed profit from the deal. It all sounds real fishy to me. Im not the biggest conspiracy theorist, but I suspect this was all planned for quite some time.

Exactly. NFL Ticket people stopping their subscriptions helps, but it's the season ticket holders that don't send in their first payments on season seats that will affect them. I know I heard out here that just recently the az cardinals are wanting their first payment/installment of 600 dollars for seats. Of course you risk losing your seats if you don't make that installment, but to me that is where people are heard. Don't re-new your season tickets till its over...
