Which is why the time has come for the fans to rise up and let their voices be heard.
The majority of you are already in unison as to your position on the CBA negotiations. You don’t side with the players and you don’t side with the owners. You side with football and you don’t care how or why a deal gets done as long as it does, in fact, get done.
So what would happen if that aforementioned majority decided not to renew their season tickets for the 2011 season, boycotted purchasing NFL merchandise and told DIRECTV to go pound sand when it came time to renew “Sunday Ticket” packages?
I’ll tell you what would happen. The league and the union would begin to sweat, and that sweat would lead to a serious increase in pressure to get a deal done as fast as possible.

I canceled my Sunday Ticket after 12 years. It is time us fans stick together and show both sides that we help make this game what is today, and we can help take it away too.

I'm sure most people will flock back to football just like they did with Baseball, and hockey but man, I really hate the way these two sides are willing to let the fan sit and wait so they can make more more more.

I'm with you. **** them. I could go without NFL football for 1 year if it meant sticking it to the greedy bas***** who don't seem to give 2 s**** about a fan base responsible <or partly responsible> for their well stocked piggy banks.

Every fan forum in the country should print out a petition and mail it to their respective team.

We, the fans, should include OUR own list of demands to be met or else we'll lock out.

You know what else would be nice------- jotting down every commercial that's played during games and making sure to specifically NOT buy those products. lol.

1st on that list would be topless cheerleaders FYI. Just sayin.

We'll see, it is only mid March, and there are cases in court that could moot all of this, the draft is moving onwards so other than FA there really is no effect on fans..yet.

Besides, I have a soft spot for the CFL's BC Lions, so for me my football enjoying season starts in early July, you guys can do what you want to about the NFL ...

I agree that the fans should "go on strike." What frustrates me is that I've missed the past two NFL season already because of military training and being deployed to Afghanistan. I'm leaving here in 3 days. And, of course, one of the things I was looking forward to most was knowing that I would be able to enjoy watching my Dolphins play. Now, it's not looking good at all. I'm pissed about this entire situation. Even still, I'd side with all the fans who would want to go on strike because it's time the NFL and its players to realize who pays the bills for them.

Yes, and it would probably mean something if all the "military" fans were an emphasized part of the petition.

I wonder how many signatures (or online signatures) it would take to snag their attention.

Going to call and cancel my Sunday Ticket later today. I'll find better things to do with my time than tune into a game that does little more than drive me absolutely insane. A year off of the NFL will probably add years to my life.

Yeah, I could get behind this. Hell, I've been slowly doing just that over the last few years.

The belly aching on both sides has become nauseating. Especially in these times, when the average worker in this country has to work for 25 years to equal the average NFL salary. Yet when a player is in the middle of a contract that most would have to work 20 lifetimes for, they tell us how they need to "feed their family". :pity:

Yeah, I would love to see the people who REALLY pay the bills, realize that they (we) are just enabling this crap and just say, "(insert middle finger smiley here)".

Just so you guys know, a friend of mine owns a local sports bar here. He pays $3500.00 a season for NFL ticket. That's alot more than I thought. It's a small place, so I don't know if that is standard, or if they bill more for larger venues. Just mentioning this in case your local joint is where you plan on going, as DirectTV will still be getting paid.

I'm done supporting the NFL as well. See ya Sunday Ticket. No more merchandise either. I hate when 2 sides are both going to win no matter what and they can't come to a respected agreement.

I hope it financially impacts them severly and auto corrects the market. These prices and revenues are getting out of hand.

There are plenty of sports entertainment options out there. NBA, MLB, NHL and CFL (Padre!) to name a few.

The players arent striking, they are being locked out. i am siding with the players. and i wont cancel the ticket in march, what good does that do? they dont charge again until the season starts.....besides, i can get a good deal from DTV (have for 3 years now) when i call and say i am cancelling and they upsell me something sweet closer to the season.

This will end up gettign handeled.....im just gunna relax and watch some baseball. NFL will be played sooner or later, and ill be right there cheering when its back.

In all of my years of Dolphin fandom I cant remember having less enthusiasm for the Dolphins and the NFL .They can take the whole year off for all I care.

I am fine with college football and basketball and I am sure my kids will appreciate the extra quality time I can give them .

True. But who gets DirecTV for anything other than Sunday Ticket? Cancelling Sunday Ticket means you can still get it when the season starts again.

Cali, You're jumping the gun here Pal. No games have been lost, and I seriously doubt they will be. Over-reaction is easy when all we are reading is about money and greed. IF the judge rules in the player's favor, they are back to work within a month, and we will be talkin trades, FA, and the draft.

IF it gets to the point of losing games, I can understand what you're saying, to a degree. We're months away from that happening.

One last observation. IF you choose not to watch our team, isn't that like cutting off your nose to spite your face? JMO

don't forget the UFC. and say what you will about them but they give away TONS of free quality fights every year on basic cable channels Spike and Versus. last weekend the Diego Sanchez vs Martin Kampmann main event was a great fight, for free on Versus. heck all the fights were entertaining. and at least when a UFC fight is one sided it only lasts 15 minutes, or someone gets KO'd, it is over quickly and they move on to the next one.

agreed. in addition to what you mentioned their customer service is second to none, tech support has always been spot on when needed and when i have had to get new receivers/DVR's they are usually here within 24 hours. Comcast cannot touch them in my area.

Well for me, I participate in Forums and watch the games as a Entertainment, this sort of thing is not particularly personal for me as I'm not that personally attached to any particular "Brand" of anything, I will happily use whatever is available so all of the "Respect the Shield" stuff means bupkis to me.

Clearly I'm a huge Dolphins fan, however I also think much of this is being a bit overblown as..nothing has been missed, not a single thing, and I cannot not generate the agitation over a lockout/walkout that some can because it is only March, the Draft is happening, granted FA is looking shakey..but then again, I watched the NFL when there was no FA to speak of, so this is pretty much status quo..for me.

Do think the Dolphins could use some free agents, but also know "back in the old days" the team itself would expect the players already on the roster..to *gasp* play better.

    Definitely this.

People are freaking out and getting pissed off and it's not even the season yet. This stuff is going to get done. I have to laugh at all the people canceling ST. You're going to be sorry. You can't control the NFL by dumping their ST package anyways. Some are protesting and have no idea why. Others are just pissed because they think the season is a wash already. Stop knee jerking folks you look pretty silly. :wink2:

Cancelled my Gamepass and all my Fantasy Football accounts (the paid for ones) and made sure that all companies knew the reasons why I was cancelling.

Felt good for some reason :)

Took out a season ticket for my dad at my soccer team so the money went there instead , they need it more anyway since we are nearly bankrupt :( WHen you see the NFL talking about $9bn you realise the world is ****ed up when a soccer club with 140 years of history is in dnager of going under for as little as $1m equivalent in debts :(

The pressure will really hit the NFL owners when the TV execs see their Sunday ratings going down the drain. Thats is a lot of lost ad revenue.

This is what both sides want you to do, just sit there and take it. If we as a fan base start acting now the pressure to settle this will come to a head and the money that they are losing now will affect a lot of things. I am not waiting for the NFL to tell me when it is time to have enough. If you want to take there crap, then by all means be my guest. I fed up with the greediness of both sides, and we have families struggling to eat and keep the lights on with a roof over there head. No thank you to the greed.

Saw that, do not know what to make of it tbh, not very happy about it, but then again the rookie walking up and shaking Gooddells' hand never mattered very much to me, the crowd at Radio City will not like it, but the commentary etc will be the same from Kiper and during the Draft Chat/Draft Thread that we will have here.

Personally I think those young men should tell D Smith to go pound sand as this is the one event in an NFL career that only happens..once, you can win multiple super bowls or even MVP awards, you only get to walk across that stage and hold up the Jersey..one time in a lifetime.
