Sorry if this is supposed to go into the draft forum...

Don banks just released his mock and has us taking ingram. I understand these mock dudes are just being safe here. I dont think i would be mad at taking ingram at 15, but dont you think we can find talent later on in the draft maybe trade the 15th down to get a 2nd and address some other needs like QB, or WR? What do you guys think?

Buffalo, Arizona, Houston, Washington, and Minnesota all pick before we do at number 15 and all them have QB as their number 1 draft priority. I am all for trading down if it suites our needs, but I am not so sure it will. There is a huge cry for good QB's in this draft and the draft class is very sparse. I would love to see us grab someone like Colin Kaepernick if we trade down but the likelihood is slim. I am hardly a draft guru but I say if Ingram is there he will be the best player on the board and we should grab him.

Ingram just fits with what we need, I'd like to take a OLB, but even that does not make as much sense as he, we need more offense, we need a running back, we need to rebuild the running game.

Ingram is the safe pick at that spot. He is a very good running back and the phins would be lucky to get him but we need a qb. Trade back to the mid 20s draft Ryan Mallett and get a 2nd round pick in the process

Darrien Sproles (sp?) could be a great elixir and change the landscape for us in the draft but these random elements can't be counted on. At number 15 we shouldn't make any blunders.

Ingram isnt that great of a runner IMO. Id take an old Ricky over Ingram.

If we're going to waste our first pick on a runningback ,it may as well be Kendall Hunter. He's faster, stronger, and more atheltic than Ingram. A much more explosive home run hitter.

I certainly agree that we need to rebuild our running game. I hope we don't resign Ronnie, Ricky or Cobbs. That would leave us with three RB positions to fill and I believe this year is a very good year to do just that in the draft. I had posted a mock where I had Miami drafting Daniel Thomas, Alex Green, and Brandon Saine.

I hope the FO cleans house at the RB position. I rather stay away from the FA market here cause I believe that the good FAs will cost too much and have been subject to considerable wear and tear to this point.

I really think all of that is way overblown. I'm sure if he, his agent, or his family think there is something amiss they would work on the problem in any manner possible. JMO.

I think he makes sense, but we have to watch the Cap, I'd like to find our own Sproiles, maybe someone like Fanin?

Also would like to add a Vet to the backfield, say Ingram/Harrison/Hilliard.

I'll be quite disappointed if we can't trade back. I like Ingram, but 2 picks is more valuable than 1 in this case.

That would depend on whether Sparano would use him heavily, as in 20 carries a game, if so he'd be worth it, as a rotational back probably not as you need more plays out of that draft pick.

I don't care as long as it's not #19! Ginn wore it and couldn't do $hit, Marshall wore it and for his first year in Miami all he did was drop passes. Maybe the #19 jinx is real.

Did anyone else hear the Ryan Mallet interview on Dan Patrick today? The kid was asked some pretty tough questions and seemed to keep his cool. There are a few things about him that scare me. It is kinda funny all of the bad things ( allegedly) that cam newton came across in college but Mallet is getting scrutinized over a drug rumor???? Cam is the so called stud in the draft, but Mallet could really be the diamond in the rough. IMHO

Mallet's stock went up on my board and i honestly think we should try and trade down to mid 20s pick and maybe get a RB somewhere in the 2nd. But i know very little about FB, take all this with a grain of salt. LOL

Mallett's issues are far more than a drug rumor. This guy has been reportedly disliked by his team mates in HS, at Michigan and at Arkansas for being arrogant and lazy. He wasn't even the captain of his college team. How many star college QBs can you say that about? Or even better, how many lazy, unathletic college QBs with poor leadership skills have gone on to NFL success.

I agree. I feel like trading back is the best move at this point. There's only a few guys I'd consider at #15, those being Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, and Mike Pouncey. I think you can make a move back and still go after someone like Ryan Mallett, Mikel Leshoure, Christian Ponder, maybe Pouncey as well and still get a 2nd rounder out of it. I doubt Julio Jones makes it past the Rams in any case, so if at 15, and we can't make a deal to move down, I think Ingram is not only the safest option, he's the BEST option. I might even consider him the best option at 15 even with out the trade-down caveat. He makes the run game better from day one, and there's still an ample amount of interior OL help to be had later on in the draft, and given the names in the latest Draft Winds, it definitely seems like Jeff Ireland isn't opposed to doing just that.

I think the bottom line is Ireland/Sparano don't have the job security to draft a QB in the 1st round. If they don't shore up the running game this off season they wouldn't be around long enough to see the QB develop. Ricky, Ronnie, Cobbs all FAs. Ireland/Sparano would be foolish to bank on FAs alone to fill RB and interior OL.

Although it is true that some good RBs have been found in later rounds there are plenty that have done "NOTHING" other than ST or practice squad material. Most great RBs are found in the 1st round and Ingram looks like he could be one.

Only WR I could see taking in round 1 is Green or Jones and after Jones combine I doubt he makes it past the Rams.

With all due respect, I see not how this is relevant.

The non-believers want you to abandon faith, but alas, opponents will soon bow and bask in the glory that is [future Dolphins quarterback] Ryan Mallett.

Since when has runningback become a position verboten to pick in mid round 1?

Not necessarily verboten, but in a draft deep at the position, and in a league where guys who were both drafted high (Chris Johnson) and undrafted (Arian Foster) have excelled, there just isn’t much value in taking a guy like Mark Ingram in the first round. It also looks like free agency isn’t a total pipe dream, which means guys like Ahmad Bradshaw and DeAngelo Williams and Pierre Thomas and Michael Bush can be obtained.

man, did you see his gut when he ran today...pathetic, he might be a good one, and he can throw the football, but he most certainly did not do sh%$ in the weight room, nada zip zilch...boy was livin the dream in college....hate when players that were born with great talent dont appreciate it or respect it.. you train harder when your born with the talent, not the opposite....red flag...sometimes they shape up and get humbled by the process and the self realization... and sometimes they wind up like Ben Roth

Not that this has any bearing on anything, but Henne was not a captain, Long was though.

I think it does have bearing. And Mallett comes off as having less leadership than Henne. That doesn't bode well. Mallett is more talented than Henne, but not by much. Mallett is basically a more aggressive, better deep throwing, poorer work ethic, poorer leadership version of Henne. Obviously, Mallett could break the pattern of strong armed prospects with sporadic accuracy (especially under pressure) and questionable work ethic who are draft busts, but the odds aren't good. Mallett is the worst bet in the first round.
