Thought he would of been at least an upgrade at the #2, but I also feel hes on his last legs... Dude is gonna slap that boy claussen...lol
awesome, i am much more happy with haynos or some other scrub as a backup!!!! GO DOLPHINS!!!!! /end sarcasm
I'm guessing it depended on the kind of $$$ and assurances of playing time he wanted perhaps ... not going to lose any sleep over him not being signed at all.
They may have been afraid that Shockey would push them out of stealth mode in terms of letting our offense's secrets out. For going on 4 seasons now our scheme has been a closely guarded secret, so much so in fact that nobody can tell you exactly what it is we do, or how we do it. Losing Shockey is a win because it keeps us on course. *sigh
Two reasons I wouldn't mind that he signed in Carolina. Ridiculous money or promised a starting job by Carolina. If these were his reasoning, then so be it. Otherwise it'd be another move I'm not on board with.
Could he have not passed our physical? Maybe there was something we found that made us say no thanks.
Respected members of the media Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwin, thought Shock was done when they saw him in camp last year, and reaffirmed those opinions after the season was over..
Rejoice Brother, Haynos was let go today! His production was halographic to Fasano's, I'd guess playing time and cash were the difference. This is the sort of thing that kills me about Ireland, fans are twisting in the wind out here for some exciting news, and all we get is: -Nate Garner tendered offer -Tyler Thigpen tendered offer as a #2 pick, he will be a FA anyway. Passed on Manny Arceneuax, passed on Shockey, but hey..lots of excitement here.. Cripes there will be tumble weeds blowing across the forum by mid May.
This is my favorite part of offseason. The whole, "The team is going to be terrible because they didn't sign ______." I also look forward to the annual, "Look at the Redskins, they are signing ______, _________, ______, _______ and _______." Always forgetting they have been terrible.
We need some action on the player personnel front, otherwise it will be straight up Lockout 2011 from here until the Draft, then more of the same afterwards. ATM, we have Henne, and Brandstater, and Lou Polite, Lex Hilliard, under contract, does that sound like a offseason of fun to you?
At least if we added a name or two it would allow fans something to chew over during the long lockout, now we are on the verge of having only 7 draft picks...for months and months and months of material. At least until the CFL kicks off in July..
Pod...lol..what the hell are you talkin about..lol, you want some action, go to your neighborhood bar and get some..
I hear you , however maybe Miami figures the resources used to sign Shockey , they would prefer to use to another TE. It may be someone who shakes free or a mid round draft choice?
I want to write a childrens book and call it ''Padre and the C.F.L''...''Their adventures together.''
I certainly hope that they plan to go after Zach Miller in FA. Shockey would have been nice, but I am not going to be upset if we manage to land either Zach Miller or Owen Daniels.
Well looks like Owen Daniels is off the table after reaching a four year deal worth $22 million with the Texans. Here is the link: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/03/owen-daniels-reaches-four-year-contract/
Chew on this: http://gamerewind.nfl.com/nflgr/dashboard. Great way to pass some time, gain perspective, dispel myths, anger the wife, all that good stuff.
Jeff Darlington on Twitter: So it appears that Jeff Ireland has a blind spot at TE. Anthony Fasano, the definition of average, is just fine. No problem here.
owen daniels just got extended...My 2 fav free agents Greenway and Daniels, signed.. Miller will be signed by the raiders...bet it.
If it make you feel any better, i heard that the dolphins had some questions about shockey's medicals....
After that ugly pig of a season? Granted being a Dolphins fan is close to being a masochist, but I'm not there yet.
He's injury prone, can't block worth a ****, and his one marketable skill is in decline unless he finds a way to get paid for being an *******. I can't imagine he'd have a third of the interest he does around here if he wasn't a UM player.
Really? I guess you don't count blocking, which I suppose is fine not many people do. Or there's the fact that Shockey wasn't even as productive a receiver as Fasano last season, and hasn't produced markedly better than that in years? It's all about Da U baby.
This should be x3 the news of the Dolphins declining to sign Jeremy Shockey. He was a legitimate, good option. Kevin Boss and Zach Miller are legitimate, quality options. Jeremy Shockey is not, Jeremy Shockey is a holding pattern until you develop or find someone better.
This is probably more fallout from our Ross/Sporano signing fiasco. First Harbaugh ran from us, then a few of the OC candidates and now Shockey. There was a time when everyone wanted to play for the Dolphins, now everyone runs away from us. We are developing quite a reputation, I hope Ross is proud of himself. IMHO he's nothing more than a big eared simple minded freak.
This is one of those things that is literally not a fact based discussion. It doesn't matter that someone with inside information said there were medical concerns, that Shockey came in and worked out, that the Dolphins declined to sign Shockey, not the other way around.
No offense but I trust our medical staffs judgement about as much as I would a hooker with my wallet.
