*Sigh* which is why I banged the "Sign Phillip Hunt" gong since November, but to no avail, the passrush outside of Wake was just not good or consistent, which is why no one should be surprised if they add a OLB/passrushing specialist at #15 as they simply could be BPA for that slot.

The alternative to me would be:

-"Hope" Koa Misi develops over the offseason and training camp, which is not impossible as passrushers typically flash their first yrs, then come on in their second yrs

-"hope" Jared Odrick is the player they thought he would be when taking him #28 overall.

-"Hope" Will Allen regains his old form, people tend to forget that WA was a very effective blitzer when he was on the field, sneaky player

Or they just draft someone highly, though to me I suspect they have some hope for Mike Rivera a player they poached from the Packers practice squad with solid measurables.

There is also the possibility that DC Nolan and Sheridan dial up creative blitz packages now that they know their personnel that much better after working with them for a yr.

I've been an advocate of moving Misi to ILB and getting more pass rush opposite Wake, for a while now.

while i have been an advocate of improving the LB corps since i've been on this site ... and still believe our current lot needs 1 more tweek; Crowder has always been way overvalued by PHIN phans and Misi is not the weak side force we need to augment Wake. Maybe both Misi and a returning Edds can be just what we need at ILB to go along with Dansby; but that still leaves us short at OLB.

i want to invest more energy into the best FS we can find. we have Clemons and Amaya as good young prospects - but we need some veteran talent and leadership to go along with Jones at SS in order for this defense to take the next step towards being elite.

Von miller will be gone, most likely Robert quinn as well...Who you want Pod?, Aldon Smith, Akeem Ayers, Kerrigan at #15?

    If you go that route than you made a mistake with Misi, unless they think they can turn him into an inside linebacker {wishful thinking}

All this tells me is, its either Mark Ingram or trade down.

To me, Ingram is the pick.

Well, the thing is Misi's Rookie yr looks much like Lamarr Woodley's rookie yr from a passrushing standpoint, and that is the rub, to take a OLB/DE type at #15 means you are 100% that Misi can move inside and 100% the draft choice can start at OLB from Day #1.

I wonder how much of this is due to them losing the bet that they would have Chris McCoy coming into to camp this season.

That first rounder better play on offense....I could see Ireland trading down to gain a pick to get his pass rusher tho. And once again missing out on an impact player.

And Shane Vereen in rd #3, then G/C and I'd like a Returner type.

In an offseason where we have many serious needs, I'd prefer to pick up a guy like Chris Carter in the mid rounds who can be a situational pass rusher with the potential to grow into an every down player with time.

Von Miller's the only defensive guy in the top 15 I'd want. If we throw a few non-key players at a team to move up for him, I'd be ok with it, but not if it meant giving up our 3rd.

If we go defense 1st, then we need a potential #1 back with our 3rd rounder. Enter Daniel Thomas in this scenario.

Exactly, Mando is reporting on something that happened in December(?)...If Ireland takes a pass rusher in RD 1; I'm gonna respond like Michael Clayton...

There's more being made of this than there is. They've got their two starters, they're looking for probably #3's and #4's, players who have high upside or different skillsets than we've got. It's most likely to be a cheaper veteran than anything.

They put in a claim on Merriman, they looked at Travis LaBoy, tried to see if they could recreate the Matt Roth experiment with Ikaika Alama-Francis. Those are the kind of things we're looking at, not #15 or ...moving Koa Misi?

Wow, I have witnessed something rare than finding a franchise Qb in the 7th rd

Someone who has watched Michael Clayton...that is like finding a gold dubloon on the beach.
