This is great news for Jets fans. Although we traded a 2nd for Cromartie, he is the one that will hurt us the least. Holmes and Edwards are a great duo and re-signing them both will be great for Sanchez and our offense.

We drafted Wilson in the 1st round. It's time for the kid to step up. The Steelers went to the SB with slapdick CBs. Keeping Holmes and Edwards is the best thing possible, and on top of that, David Harris is coming back.

Breakout year for Mark Sanchez for sure: 3,700 yards, 32 Touchdowns, 16 interceptions.

I know they've got alot of other FA's this year to lock up, but it woudlnt surprise me if they chased Asumougha or however the hell you spell that dude's name.

Shows they were truly win-now mode.

That's not meant to be a knock. But giving up a #2 pick for a 'proven' guy you really wanted and dumping him a year later..... As a Dolphins fan I hope the Jets do more of this.

Hey, at least you got something out of him. Down here we spend those picks on Pat White and insist he remain solely at QB. :(

It's good to be a dreamer. I wouldn't go betting money on that pipe dream though. I do agree that it's time for the 1st round pick to step it up.

Hmm, imagine Revis being the #2 CB on a team. Ridiculous.

Curious what the Jets' salary cap looks like?

Darrelle Revis is the best defensive player in the league. Everyone knows it. However, because of the hatred you all have against the Jets, you guys will never admit it. He shuts down EVERYONE he goes against.

Name me a player that holds Calvin Johnson to a reception, 13 yards. A player that holds Andre Johnson to a recpetion, 20 yards. A player that holds Reggie Wayne to a recpetion, yard.

#24 will go down as the best CB ever.

Best CB ever? Come on, dude. But there is no denying he is one of the top guys in the league right now, even if he got beat by Moss and Ginn.

Its funny, because just last season this entire board was saying how Davis is better than Revis.. Now that's something that's funny.

To be completely honest, I rather have Revis with one hand than have Davis with two.

No, it's funny because you said Revis is the best Defensive Player in the league and everyone knows it. Then you top it off with he will be the best Cb ever! The medication must be damned good?

Just a reminder that Revis did not have a great season and in all his years at Cb, Neon Deon never went an entire season without at least two Int's. Now if your going to say no one threw at him it's simply not true in comparing how teams threw away from Sanders.

Revis is an excellent Cb. One of the best in the league today. But he is not the best defensive player in the league.... hands down. Arguably he is not even the best Cb.

As long as he still has those handsome feet, no?

So, the "best defensive player in the league" put up a whopping 32 tackles, 0 interceptions, 0 forced fumbles, and 0 sacks? Thats some impressive **** right there, that season should go down in history as the greatest of all time.

I guess its kinda like running around spouting off how Mark Sanchez is a top 10 QB in the league, despite the fact he finished 27th in passer rating and has worse numbers than Henne thus far in their careers.

I want to see the Dolphins and possibly other teams make a strong play for Holmes.......... if nothing else it will drive his price up

Love the idea that the Jets paid a one year rental of a 2nd rounder for Cro

If the Jest can sign Aswhateverhisnameis and Holmes/Edwards then the salary cap is a just a joke.

I crunched some numbers on the owners' demands and 1 billion dollars taken off of the table equates to 32 million dollars per team that has been taken off of the table for Salary Cap purposes, which is a substantial hit on the prior cap of 118 million so much so you have to wonder if the Owners do have their demands met if it will be phased in over the life of a new CBA?

I'd heard the Owners hired the moron who ran the NHL lockout in 04-05 and what he implemented was a hard cap and they unilaterally voided any contract that paid over "X" per season, players with voided contracts then became instant FA's but can not possibly attain the same deal as they had before the lockout.

I'd rather have McCourty. More tackles, 7 ints, instead of 0, a sack, 24 pass deflected compared to Revis' 10 and two FF's.

Oh, but revis had to 2 receptions.. that makes him all pro.

If you are gonna use last year's td's and yardage in this year's total, you need to add in his int's too.

i dont know.. revis gave up some big plays this year, plus he had the hamstring problem. mccourty made a lot of big plays, i mean, 9 turnovers (well 7, i dont know if the 2 FF were actually turn overs). he reminds me alot of asante samuel when he played for NE, the way he baits the qb into throwing his way.

Do I think McCourty is better than Revis? No. I think Revis' mirror skills separate him from most NFL cornerbacks. His ability to start and stop as well as plant and drive are top notch. I do still think that Nnamdi Asomugha is still up there with Revis though. Asomugha's length separates him from others IMO. I think its hard to crown a guy at that position as the best just because its such a week to week thing.

Devin McCourty has improved a ton though. I watched him in college and IMO, his footwork was lacking as were his ball skills. NE has done a really fantastic job improving his game and it will only continue. They really threw a lot on his plate in his first season and he handled it well. I think he's a better fit for their scheme and what they ask of him than what they did with Asante Samuel. And here's the thing, they are doing a lot of similar things that they did with Asante now with McCourty. A ton of 2/4 Read, 2 Man, and Man-Free. In general, a ton of man.

thats why the illegal touching rule came into play, it was the 2003 season i believe when Ty law was man handling everyone.

Yes, they do to a point but that's why the rules changed. Sam Madison was pretty good at hiding it but he got called a ton for PI....

Now the refs seem to look the other way for certain players. Like I said, Revis is damned good but there are times, and especially at crucial points in games, where he's holding, poking, and pushing way past 5 yards.

They still do it for most cornerbacks. There's a new technique that is becoming real prevalent from HS to the NFL and its the catch man technique. I don't know if you remember when Joe Haden was covering Marlon Moore in the Cleveland/Dolphins game and it was a deep comeback ran by Moore. Haden grabbed his hand and pulled it. They teach their players to grab the hand when the ball is in the air and its hard to see it then. I don't have a problem with it though. The refs need to let the guys play at times.

Yep. Hey I've got something for you. Click here. I wrote it.
