http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...icized-for-medical-handling-of-rashad-jeanty/ http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20..._1_miami-dolphins-rashad-jeanty-quentin-moses His agent David Canter just mentioned the Dolphins worked him out yesterday and expect an offer to be made, he is a local guy and a player I've always liked as he seems like one of those "glue" players, you can play him at ILB or OLB or ST and he will do a good job. http://www.bengals.com/team/roster/Rashad-Jeanty/JEA428791 He led the Bengals in ST tackles in 09, a playoff yr for them.
if the price is right & he's healthy, I think it would be a good acquisition can never have too many good LB's between defense & special teams depth is important over the long haul & competition the elixir of success
I've always liked his game, but think Odell Thurman is more physically talented and with the UFL having troubles I'd almost prefer taking a look at him over Jeanty, but to me either way it is good to see they are back on the grind of filtering through players for Camp. As for Jeanty, his agent also mentioned 8 teams were looking at him, being from Carrol City hopefully he lands here.
Nah, dude went to the CFL when he was like 20yrs old, played OLB and won 2 grey cups by the time he was 22, 4 yrs in cinci where he played well where ever he was asked to play, he would be a nice pickup for us.
The CIN organization should be ashamed of themselves considering the way they handled his injury, and if I was in the FO I would seriously question and investigate the entire medical staff. That being said, I don't know much about the guy, but I do recall hearing his name a lot in the past.
hes a decent player, but we need another impact pass rusher from the olb imo. if healthy im sure would be solid depth.
How they allowed Carson Palmer to NOT have Tommy John surgery is beyond me, he would have been out for a solid calendar yr however when a Qb's career cycle can be 15 yrs, why in the world would you take a chance on the one thing that must work for him to play in the NFL? As for Jeanty IF he is signed to me it means the Austin Spitlers' of the roster are going to be pushed out or sent to the practice squad as they no longer have the luxury to allow less than optimal performance whilst a player attempts to "get it". There just is not as much room for error as their was in 08-10.
Well, if he is added and healthy, what he would do is put Q Moses or Ikaika Francis on the bubble as he is better LB depth and a far better ST player, now Ikaika will have time to prepare for 2011 as a Linebacker unlike 2010, but Jeanty is a known commodity and would clearly start with an edge over either of them and Spitler as well.
I am optimistic about Ikaika, and even Q. Moses himself played well for us. I would hope that Jeanty doesn't push Ikaika, since his youth would serve us better if he turns out to be the better player and second on the depth chart on the outside.
Well believe it or not, Jeanty is maybe a yr older than either Q or Ike, both have been in the NFL since 07, Jeanty was signed by the Bengals in 06. Per OmarK he also has visits set up with the Jets (who are signing anything that moves) and Seahawks. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...-jeanty-miami-dolphins-020811,0,1346423.story
Well now, after thinking about this a bit, perhaps Jeanty could be that cheap Vet Linebacker who makes plays on ST? If signed, we would only lack a Returner type and maybe a kick off specialist to have our ST unit locked down on paper prior to the preseason, and I'd have to think Resetilli would be in that mix as well, but with Jeanty you would be getting a known commodity at linebacker as well. Fields/Carpenter/Jeanty/..Darren Sproiles?
Just how is this supposed to help the next to last offense in the NFL ? Shouldn't we be more worried about that side for a change ?
It doesn't help it all..directly, if ST improves that improves field position which will help the offense, but ST was a serious problem as well so if he can make an impact on that unit, assuming he is signed, then fix what you can now, and use more valuable resources later to inject talent into the offense.
The offense though was the most troublesome. They need to acquire talent there 1st, then worry about the ST.
No trades, no FA, wereas Jeanty can be signed now and could (not will) upgrade Special Teams, nothing can really be done for the offense until the Draft or the CBA is completed. Put it this way, the only thing that can be done is to sign Street FA's like Josh McCown, or poach practice squads for a Running Back, or other positions, those are the only two options and there is not a whole lot out there SB, the CFL is not offering anything up either. So to me, if you can find a piece that figures to fix a problem, though it is not your main problem, you do so.
This guy, who I personally have never heard of, but then I admittedly don't keep up with other teams players like I do ours, doesn't exactly seem like he would be an upgrade. As needy as the Bengals are, and they cut him outright, that sends a red flag up about this dude.
Well, never under estimate the incompetence of the Bengals organization dj, he broke his leg in a playoff game and damaged his ankle as well, they only caught the leg break, Dolphins medical people told him he needed ankle surgery as well, he wound up having it and the Bengals then cut him as being "injured" due to the recovery from the ankle surgery. This after paying Antonio Bryant 8 million as a signing bonus only to discover he had a rare cartilage condition, these are not the brightest bulbs in Cinci. As for Jeanty himself, always liked his game he is the sort of player who does whatever he is asked really well, if healthy he would upgrade our ST coverage unit and could fill in for Misi or Crowder.
Bryan Thomas for the Jets is not exactly a sack machine either, but Jeanty makes up for it in other areas such as ST's and causing fumbles.
I imagine there are lots of players out there that had ankle and knee surgery. Why do we even bother ?
Because you might find something if you keep an open mind to different possibilities. A lot of teams didn't put much effort into things like scouting the CFL. Then along comes a Cameron Wake and now teams are giving it more dedication.
Brandon Adenjabejo was a ST standout for the ravens and they kept him on the roster while recovering from a knee injury and he was 34, Jeanty is 27 with no knee issues to speak of and a yr of rest and rehab.
Who have ankle surgery ?????????? Team loves people with medical problems. Paid Smiley a kings ransom with a shoulder dangling by a thread. Guess cheap practice fodder is okay.
Sure, heck Leon Washington snapped his leg like a toothpick and he cam back just fine. Smiley had a detoriated shoulder joint, Jeanty merely had a bad leg break, if the morons on the Bengals staff had not misdiagnosed him he would have been ready to play in 2010. Besides, he has not been signed as of yet, he only worked out for us and his agent is expecting an offer, not that an offer has been made.
