The goals http://dai.ly/eFn7Zc http://dai.ly/i6lWaP http://dai.ly/etnJqL Wenger interview http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/9323093.stm
What a game! Nice to see Arsenal apply pressure on Chelski and not take their foot of the gas once the got a goal. I though Walcott and Song were outstanding last night. PS; Happy belated Christmas to my fellow soccer posters by the way. Hope you all had a great day and all the best for 2011 (still kind of staying away from the main forum plus work and Christmas has limited my free time of late). Stay safe guys Matt
Last year you could say arsenal play a notch down when cesc is out. This year its the same but for nasri
Adebayor to the white house. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/t...al-madrid-sign-emmanuel-adebayor-on-loan-from
English transfer market has gone mad! £12m for Suarez a proven goalscorer on every level...£35m for Andy Carroll a ...well..he's...er...English! FFS!
holy cow... just found out about the Carroll and Suarez moves... and the Torres move... This is what I get for living in the US...wow what a week for LFC eh? that could be quite a new duo, nice compliment to one another. Now, is Suarez that good (recalling what he did at the WC10). Had no idea he was only 24. Also the Suarez fee was $22.8m..
Yeah Suarez is, he scored 80 some goals in like 100ish games with Ajax, and like you said, you saw what he did in the WC. I follow the reds, and once Carroll and Suarez are on the field at the same time, should be better then just Torres, He has really been off for the last year. Though paying that much for Carroll I was kinda flabbergasted, but they did get 50 mil for Torres, so in essence they spent 7 mil for 2 quality strikers.
If he was German or say, French he wouldn't have gone for more than £11m. The price for English players is ridiculous especially for what we've done on the world stage...oh.. Damn dyslexic fingers! lol I meant £21m but I what a week! I was enjoying winding my colleagues up about Torres until they signed Suarez..wish Arsenal had signed him...actually I wish Arsenal signed at least 4 new defenders! smh! It is something ridiculously high goals per game average for Ajax. Not sure if two quality strikers but Carroll should improve with time. I think Suarez will be better for them than Torres. OH and Emerald...how the hell did you get a point yesterday man?!?! I wanted to cry! lol
I'm a big fan of Wenger but you guys lost your discipline in that 2nd half and that comes down to the gaffer IMO. YOu guys totally let us back in that game with Diaby's sending off, Koscienly needlessly giving away the 1st penalty, Rosicky looked totally uninterested and failure to up your game when Newcastle did. You guys miss leadership on the field and I dont think you will win any significant trophy without bringing in a true leader. I mean you guys were successful with Wenger when you had big leaders in Adams, Keown and Viera. If those guys were playing yesterday Newcastle dont get back into that game. They would make sure everyone upped their game significantly to stop it. I dont think Fabregas has the ability to do that. As for Andy Carroll, I wouldn't have sold him for 50 million.
LFC on the way up! 11 to 1 betting odds (prior to the Chelsea match) in them making the top four... I bet that has changed now. Pretty decent day today... LFC winning... GB winning... me winning...
I think next season Liverpool will be strong. Daglish has got that team playing and with Suarez and Carroll up front you guys have a very potent attack.
What a game that was last night. Full credit to Arsenal from coming back from 1 down, but I think Barca got a bit over-confident. What a game we have in store in 3 weeks.
I'm still buzzing from the game! great result! realistically I was expecting a 2-0 loss but would have accepted it at 1-0 but those last 12 minutes were fantastic. I thought we were very lucky not to be 2 down at half time but in the second half we were a lot better. Special praise should go to Wilshire, Koslieny and Sczney (sp?!) thought all three were very good last night.
I just hope that you guys don't lose players for the return leg like last year, because from a purely football stand point, you want both team to have a full compliment. What makes this tie so good is that both teams can be shaky at the back, but can be unstoppable going forward. Roll on 3 weeks!!!!
Still stoked from yesterday. Only thing grinding my gears a little is commentators saying arshavins goal was a "barca" goal arsenal scored against barca. Come on now, that was a damn arsenal goal. Dudes are still slobbering over barca even when scored on.
I always prefer games that are played at full strength so theres no excuses Love that sczney (sp) celebration! lol I saw that and thought it was funny, you could tell when Pique turned round he clocked it was Cesc and would be having a word later! lol
It's ridiculous! Regardless of the changes we should beat Leyton Orient...mind you if I was an Orient striker I would just hit the ball and see what Almunia would do..God he's useless! Next round is United too...was kind of hoping City would get United...
They really need to scrap FA Cup repalys IMO. For teams playing in numerous other competitions it becomes so such a pain in the arse. I mean they have already scraped replays in the Final and Semi - Final, so just scrap them all the way down. I know people like tradition and all that, but players are playing much more games these days for club and country than they were even 20 years ago. As someone who played amature sport at a decent level, I hated replays. Would rather just get the game finished there and then, especially after commiting 90 minutes to the game already.
Completely agree mate, if the lower teams get drawn away the big clubs can give them the gate receipts. I wouldn't be adverse to Arsenal giving Leyton Orient the gate reciepts from the reply; though I doubt the club accountants would agree lol
Crazy thing is I think the lower teams would have a better shot at going through in a one off scenario. I would love to see a stat of how many teams lower than Championship League 1 have actually gone through after taking a Premiership team to a replay. I dont think it has been done too often. So going to ET and the lottery of penalities gives teams like that a better chance of progressing and earning more money IMO.
It's rare that a premiership side loses a replay. The Arsenal game the other day would have been a classic example with the team Wenger fielded. Those last 20 minutes Leyton Orient were the better side, whose to know what could have happened if it had gone to ET or pens? (though I'd hope premiership players wouldn't be so fatigued..) Roll on Sunday though it's a pity the Cesc won't be on the field and just typical that the one season we end up in a final he's unable to play after spending the last 3 off seasons b*tching about the lack of trophies!
Amazing goal. French league.
