That sounds about the same as the one's Mom made. One time we made a mistake and got hot sausage. Very good and different.
One thing you may want to try with the burgers is sprinkling soy sauce on them before cooking. A chef in Cal told me this years ago, and I have been doing it ever since.
Here is a good description and pic. http://thechive.com/2010/02/15/bacon-cheese-turtleburger-anyone-3-photos/
Beer, beer, beer, lot's of beer, and then some more beer. LOL Any one here not drinking beer? What is the favorite flavor? Any have an off the mainstream beer worth trying?
Got some fresh smoked tuna, will make a smoked fish dip with capers on on Homemade garlic croutons from a baguette.. Fresh Guac with carmelized onions mixed in..The flavors marry so well together... ya'll gotta try..just make some fresh Guac, {4 avacodo's, 3 or 4 limes, sea salt, and heres a tip, take your garlic and sea salt and mash it together with the back of your knife to create a paste, then stir that into your Guac, fresh black pepper, and your good..Than just slice a huge onion thin and throw it in a large frying pan with salt and pepper, extra virgin, and let them cook, stirring periodically, until a beautiful light brown...Keep the Guac cold and dump your onions in when ready to serve... Throwin some cajun spices on some red snapper filets, and throwin those on the grill for some spicy fish tacos...Makin a fresh slaw with apple cider vinegar, cabbage, lil mayo so its not drenched, lil sour cream, dash of cayenne and tobasco, lil salt, lil sugar, fresh pepper...done. And of course, fresh burgers, 80/20 fat ratio on the beef, with small bits of chorizo mixed in, with a slice of smoked Gouda, crisp lettuce tomato...and make sure you butter those buns and grill'em.
I love Guinness but drink Coors light while grilling. I started drinking Coor's when it was illegal to have here. A friend would hide 20 cases in the back of a trailer from Cali and give me one or two. It was the forbidden fruit. I was actually offered $1,000. for a case from someone trying to impress people back in the days. I have also had some VG Belgian ale's.
You say offered instead of i was given. I hope you took that deal. I wonder what my Canadian beer will sell like down there? Must.get.into.bootlegging.
No, I passed. My friend did me a very big favor in giving it to me, not to re-sell for a big profit., he could have done the same. However, the people I gave six pack to, as a gift, returned the favor in tens of thousands in business profits, and cash in my pocket. Sometimes doing the right thing, just because it is the right thing to do, does make much more than a quick buck.
I'm working on finishing up my menu this afternoon. Here's what I have planned: - Bacon Wrapped Jalepenos with Cheddar and Cream Cheese filling - Fresh Roasted Poblano Salsa - Cheesy Deviled Eggs - Beef Barley Soup - "Big Game" meat for the Big Game (Slow Cooked Venison Roast) And of course, we'll be drinking beer. Probably going to have a variety of stuff: - Boulevard Double Wide IPA and Tank 7 - Tallgrass Oasis - Whatever else I buy at the liquor store
My Super Bowl Chilli is complete... on the left is the Hellish version, on the right, the regular version. Now, its on to the meatballs...
