If you're gonna burn then burn hard. Make Charlie Sheen your QB, Gary Busey a WR AND Tom Siezemore a LB. This makes as much sense as paying up for Kolb.

I think the WCO aspect of it is overrated. The various offensive trees are not particularly "pure" anymore and I don't think you can really make assumptions based on them anymore. Probably 85%+ of what every offense does in the league is the same and the remaining 15% is different ways of reaching the same goal. You have to look at the tendencies of the individual coordinator rather than the scheme nowadays. Philly doesn't run an offense full of 3 and 5-step drop timing routes like Bill Walsh designed. They go deep as much as anyone. Kolb would have to learn a new playcalling terminology set, and certain formations and plays out of those formations would be absent or different, but I doubt there would be a compatibility issue.

I think Kolb isn't any better than Henne and would be a huge waste of resources on his own merits, however.

Kolb for our 3rd might be a good value. But no way the Eagles take a 3rd. So, agree with most everyone else in this thread. If we give up a 1st I think I'll throw myself off a cliff. Same with a 2nd. Also don't place any credibility in anything from Twitter.

I think he may be the best of several not-so-good veteran QB options. Reality is that Henne was an +80 rated QB in 8 of the 15 games he played in. As Sanchez and several other QBs have proven you can win with that level of QB production if you have enough support from the other areas of the team, primarily pass defense. The best chance to win next year will probably be to give him or a similar level vet like Flynn the most support from the running game, defense and STs possible while hoping that we score on a QB in the draft that will develop in a year or two.

I'll go on record saying I would like to have Kolb. If they want a first, then no. The Dolphins have already stated they would like to obtain a 2nd round selection. Giving up a 1st would defeat that. Now if trading back in the first and obtaining a 2nd is possible, and we can trade that 2nd for Kolb, then ok.

Ugh. As crazy and illogical as it sounds I'm just completely opposed to giving up a 2nd round pick for any QB, be it a trade or draft. It just hasn't worked out for us. I'd almost rather us give up the first, just to avoid the Miami Dolphins 2nd round pick for a QB curse.

Kolb is too expensive for an unproven commodity. keep the picks & money in your pocket for the offensive rebuilding project
Matt Leinart comes @ the right price & we keep all our picks, I'd go that route & focus on the offensive line & a running back
I see no apparent or proven franchise quality QB available to us in the draft or free agency in 2011. fix what's fixable & move on

next year should be a better year for QB's. we're not SuperBowl bound any way you look @ it in 2011

You're like a broken record, you just keep repeating the same thing over and over again. I'm still waiting on an explanation of how Chad Henne is a bust but Matt Leinart is worth bringing in.

For the folks here who dont believe in Sparano and Irish, iam sure you must want Kolb considering the evaluation of the player has already been made by the respected Andy Reid...The next best thing no?

How the hell else do you pay for a quarterback? A complete free agent? Dave and Buster's tokens?

    Friend DolfanJake:
this is exactly what made me reconsider the entire QB situation in 2011
we have an offense to rebuild & cannot waste treasure or draft pick
pursuing what could very well be illusion @ this time in our development
next year may hold the answer to the franchise QB
lets fix now what is fixable with top talent & franchise quality players

Dave & Buster doesn't use tokens they have the power card. Much better as it holds the ticket count for when you spend $200 to win a $5 item.

Still think it's a better idea just drafting a QB based on the money involved. A two-fold trade down, from the middle first to the late first and then to the early second could nab Christian Ponder and a number of youth players on the offensive side of the ball. Add in perhaps a Rosario, DeAngelo Williams, and Mankins via free agency and you'd be ready to go with an impressive new cast.

I really am starting to think Ponder might be the best fit based on just how well he'd fit in this system.

On the other hand there's always the "Henne plan" which is basically going with 3-4 WRs while running the ball heavily.

I thought in the beginning the QB had the #1 priority
    however
    after due thought & research:
    1) don't see a QB in the draft or free agency in 2011 worth breaking the bank over when we have so many other needs
    2) it all begins in the trenches. we need to rebuild the offensive line immediately & find a franchise quality RB in the draft
    3) it makes more sense to me to take a chance on the cheap with a QB or two in free agency, then let everybody, including the hen compete for the start
    4) if we can fix the interior line, acquire a RB & a speedster @ WR & for returns we've done a lot. pathetic as Sparano is, he knows the offensive line & Ireland knows how to find talent
    5) we have no shot @ a SuperBowl without Divine Intervention in 2011, lets fix what can be fixed with young, quality, franchise potential players
    6) next year should be a better year to go for QB's in the draft. we could make a run @ the #1, go for the BigBrassRing

who knows how Ireland & Sparano are thinking? just have to wait & see.
Yes, I still think Henne is a bust
but under the circumstances would give him another chance to compete

we cannot afford to waste time, talent or resources

if Kolb or Palmer or anyone of the better prospects in free agency
could be had for a low to mid-range pick & salary appropriate to production & potential
it would be a serious consideration. yes, I know... but you really never know
we have to hold on to our first three picks to assure a quality in the draft: 1, 3 & 4

Dont count out Donovan Mcnabb...He wants to be play in a warm climate, and wants to rededicate himself to the game and his new team.

I am sure the people perpetuating this rumor have discussed it with Ireland. This is just Internet speculation.

After his performance this season, he doesn't have the value the Eagles claim he does. The Eagles are just trying to create a market for him that otherwise doesn't exist.
