Last time I checked we don't run a WCO. If the Eagles rip these idiots off again with one of their system QB's, WOW.

Sorry but I don't think Kolb is a franchise QB, and I'd rather have someone who isn't used to throwing to WRs with 42 feet of separation. If we trade our 1st for Kolb, I'll be pretty annoyed. I'd probably laugh my butt off if he ended up holding the clipboard.

This isn't the most friendly of offenses for a QB to come into. Just sayin. At least Henne is used to it. I'd give him one shot (plus a vet FA to compete with), and if he doesn't turn it around with a new staff and some upgrades, then I'm trading up <if necessary> next year for one of the numerous talented QBs who offer more than Mallett, Newton, Stocker, or Ponder.

God please dont let this nightmare come true. A.J. Feely 2.0. He hasn't even put up Feely numbers. I'd be ok giving up like a 5th or
6th for him but anything more than that is just plain dumb. Please let this not come true.

Too many people after this guy just because ESPN talks about him all the time.

I wouldn't get too upset. It's just a rumor. With no backing at all, at least that has been provided. This is just the product of a person taking the fact that Kevin Kolb is likely to be moved and the fact that the Dolphins will be in search of a QB and getting another slow news day. There are too many reasons why Kolb is not the right fit for this offense for the move to make any sense.

I'm gonna sign up for a twitter account and say the Dolphins #1 priority this off-season is re-signing Dan Marino...wonder if it will prompt the creation of a thread here and an over the top reaction from people. Please keep your heads about you and take every report with a grain of salt, it's the only way we'll make it through the off-season.

Arrrrgggghhhhh, I thought there was something ACTUALLY reported.

Big difference guys between AJ Feely and Kevin Kolb.

Feely was always going to be a back up to McNabb.
McNabb was cut in favor of Kolb...subsequently some guy named Vick came along and took that starting job from him

McNabb was cut in favor of Kolb because McNabb was old and the city was ready to move on. Feely was a backup to a young stud McNabb. Big difference.

I live near the Philadelphia area, many of my friends are Eagles fans, I watch the games with them, and unfortunately am subject to listening to Philly sports radio on my rides to and from work.

The honest assessment of Kolb tends to mimic many of the same gripes we have with Henne. To a large degree he tends to get the “deer in the headlights” look when he is put on the big stage. He is largely immobile and has no vision when he scrambles Both tend to rely too much on the checkdown, and seem to be accused of missing the looks of secondary WRs. It seems as though both look at the primary target, and then default to the checkdown if they are not open.

Both of these tend to inflate their completion %, however both have terrible YPA statistics. IMHO YPA may be the most telling statistic of a QB’s ability other than the more complete QB rating.

    Kolb: 60.8 comp % 6.5 YPA
    Henne: 61.1 comp % 6.6YPA

    Some colleagues:
    Flacco 62 % 7.2YPA
    Ryan 60.8% 6.9YPA
“Captain Checkdown” of Bills Fame Trent Edwards 60.5% 6.5YPA

“Dink and Dunk” Chad Pennington 66% 7.2YPA
    #18 (Peyton Manning) 64.9% 7.6YPA

The other damning opinion of Kolb, is that basically no one wants him back. It may be fickle Philly fans, but they were calling for Vick in the Preseason with what they saw out of him. Kolb is also questioned on his competitive fire, and his leadership. Philly fans believe getting a 2nd rounder for him would be highway robbery in their favor.

Personally, I believe trading for Kolb, is like spending another 2nd rounder on Henne.

Sounds like a whole lot of speculation to me... "Hey... Eagles have Vick, and Kolb, Kolb wants out and wants to start somewhere so they'll trade him. Dolphins apparently need a QB... where's twitter! I know this is going down"

Actually Vick didn't take the job, Kolb shat the bed when he had his chance and was going to get pulled before getting injured.

I'm failing to see what all the fuss is about Kolb.

I think the difference between Kolb and Feely is that Feely was always McNabb's backup. The Eagles traded away McNabb b/c they were convinced that Kolb was their guy moving forward. Then, kid gets hurt and Vick comes in playing like an MVP and takes his job.

The only reason why Kolb isn't the starter is b/c of Vick...

I wouldn't mind Kolb if he was cut or we traded a draft pick in the 4th+round range but the Eagles are going to want to fleece someone and I hope it isn't us. I'd much rather we look into a rookie if we are going to part with a early draft pick for a Qb. We don't play Philly's offense here either, it seems like the Eagles can insert just about anyone in their offense and mask their flaws while we seem to highlight them here.

I can't answer for Ireland , but if he doesn't like we he sees in the draft Kolb is the best option. Maybe grab Kolb and a late round QB prospect? I could dig Henne as a 3rd stringer............

Sounds like NFAuthority is throwing something against the wall to see what sticks. Kolb is not garnering much attention, and at the price they've talked about (1st rounder), they'll never get any bites... Add that to the WCO thing and the fact that we don't run it and that is all Kolb's experience (unless you count the spread he ran in college) and you've got a recipe for failure if he comes here...There are other options, and Henne may still be the best one. Of course, the CBA issue will be the one thing that has to be resolved first....

So, Dolfans, sit back and wait until they resolve it before you start counting the chickens...

Kolb: too expensive for an unproven bull. keep the picks & money in your pocket for rebuilding
the price is right for Matt Leinart, I'd go that route & focus on the offensive line & running back

Carson Palmer & Kyle Orton are the only other serious potential contenders in free agency
next years draft should be better for possible franchise quality QB,s
2011 appears to be a good draft & free agency for our RB & reconstructing the offensive line

go cheap @ QB & let them compete for the start. fix the rest of the offense in 2011
& if needed go for broke in the 2012 draft for a franchise QB that will captain the team

    two things:
    1) Matt Leinart has a big upside & his potential totally unexploited up until now. he could flat out be the answer & if the hen beats him out, it is what it is. can't rule out Thigpen in this conversation.
    2) we will not go to the SuperBowl in 2011with Sparano @ the reigns & we're stuck with Henne. Sparano knows offensive lines, let him build us one before he goes. let Leinart, Henne & Thigpen compete for the 2011 start in the new offense. fix what you can fix now & stay away from stupid decisions born out of desperation. you pay for quality not willful thinking & expectation.

Has everyone forgotten the WCO issue ?? When has a spread/WCO QB come back to a vertical passing game and ever....ever...been successful ?? WCO QBs do not convert well back to traditional offenses...Remember the AJ Feeley experiment ?? How about Harrington ?? How about David Carr ?? All spread/WCO guys who couldn't make the transition to the Earhardt/Perkins offenses....

Kolb - just say NO !!

Mcnabb wasnt cut he was traded for a 2nd round pick in his age 33 season.
Kolb didnt have his job taken from him, it was lost after a 0 yard passing effort in the first half vs GB in week 1.
No thanks on Kolb. System Qb as has been stated.

    1) Dolphins will be attached in every rumor of a QB trade or Free Agent no matter if that QB completely doesn't fit the offense we run here.
    2) Twitter rumors are less then garbage and should never be used to start threads with unless it comes from a highly accurate source with a very good rep.

You know, that's a good point.

Daboll, under president Mike Holmgren, ran a WCO in Cleveland last year... it's hard to imagine him running something different, considering he didn't even do that particularly well.

My opinion, though, is that the WCO sucks. It's too predictable and it doesn't stretch the field enough... oh and it requires accuracy from the quarterback.
