I think it was Madden who said you never want to hire someone who has better hair than you have, Daboll with the shaved dome was the only OC candidate who had less hair than Sparano..so he got the job. (just trying to lighten the mood)
Ever ask yourself why they like size in players but like the coaching staff to be made up of munchkins?
As long as Henning and Lee are gone I don't care if they replaced them with Siegfried and Roy. These two guys have nothing at all to lose. I have no reason to think they won't try to go out with a bang.
How's the whiny ***** angle working for you? I rooted for this team when it really sucked. I have no problem supporting them now.
Nah. I'll hang around. Just like I did after our season was over this year. Get some perspective dude. Is this where we start the "YOU'RE NOT A REAL FAN!" stupidity?
In the photo it looks to me like Sparano handed Daboll Henning's playbook. The old intimidating man enters the room..........
*OOH!* A real life whole true blue fan card? Is it the one that has all your cool "Fan creds" on it? Man, that sucker is HOT! I wish I was as big a fan as you. Maybe I will be when I grow up.-
If "perspective" is the season is already over and "delusion" is we're winning the super bowl next year, place me somewhere in the middle.
If you can offer me any reason to rationally believe next year will be better than this year, other than complete speculation, I'll listen. Otherwise, I'll go with my observation of signals of an organization in complete disarray. Miami Dolphins football will exist in '12 and beyond. I'm looking to the future, which will, hopefully be better than right now, which pretty much blows ***. I'm big huge fan, just like you, only I can only take a limited ammount of sunshine jammed up my anus. Now, tell me about all the fan stuff you do, and how you're a better fan than I am, etc et al. Don't care dude. If I had to bet my life on one of four teams to win the AFC East next year? The Dolphins are my third choice out of four.
If you can offer me any reason to rationally believe next year will be worse than this year, other than complete speculation, I'll listen.
Eh, we managed to finish 7-9 with pretty much everything going wrong and only a FG kicker and sound defense.
Your right, my bad. Let's change everyone in the organization every couple years or so just to keep it fresh.
Lame duck HC who the owner openly tried to replace. If the store doesn't turn a profit, and, the owner is openly trying to replace the manager...You can't convince me to invest in that store until he's replaced.
You're a reasonable man. I know. I read your stuff...But I know you have a passionate side, because I saw you go off once. Now; Do you have any reason, other than pure, optimistic faith that the Dolphins will better this year than last?
Your choice if there is one thing I have learned is that it is impossible to use words to change anyone's opinion in what is a performance based business. Eh, not to me, perspective tells me we are better now than at any time since the early 2000's when Wanny was riding JJ's drafts into the ground and producing 10 win seasons in so doing. Maybe 4th best, the Bills are an up and coming team. Or #1, but until there is some action on the player acquisition and retention front there is no real reason for excessive optimism, I do think Resetilli will improve the ST unit, but one undersized CFL LB is nothing to get hyped over. Do think Fipp is an upgrade in the ST department but other than that, nothing really to base anything on.
You understand we hired the guy that ran one of the two worse offenses than us to improve our offense, right? If you, as a manager of X business were looking to hire Y guy, would you improve your business by hiring a guy that produces more value or less value?
I completely get the reasoning. But man...Come on. We HAVE a base. It's made of sand. Sparano is out as soon as the season is over if he doesn't win. He has no leash, and, the owner doesn't have to SAY it...He's SHOWN it. All the ornaments on the tree ammount to jack crap if the tree is going to fall over.
It's easy to beat Daboll. All you have to do is wait till he backs up to charge at you and time a body blow when he gets close. Easy KO.
I dont' know what toss around straw means. All I know for sure is that this is the best roster, top to bottom, the Dolphins have fielded in a long time.
Speculating that because Ross tried to replace Tony Sparano he can no longer win games is speculation. Try again.
Really. And we still can't compare to the Jets or the Pats. Sooo...What a fantastic organization in place. Certainly reason to belive, yes?
Well, it strikes me that Lovie Smith was in the same situation heading into 2010, he had several disappointing seasons back to back and this after making a SB, he was on the bubble and his team pulled through. Well as I've said, I'm not a sunshine dispenser, however I do manage to keep perspective on things, fixing the running game and special teams is not that difficult to do in one offseason, that is why unlike some I'm not quite ready to climb out on the unobjective "Sparano sux" side of the fan coin. If one does not wish sunshine peddled up one's bunghole, it is equally as valid to say I do not want doom and gloom peddled up mine.
Tony can win games. That much I will grant. Can you tell me how two of his three seasons have resulted? I'll wait. Just a hint....If you punch me in the face 2 out of every three times you approach me, I'm going to hit you when you approach. I'm just sayin'.....
Do you have any reason, other than pure pessimistic sky is falling mentality that the Dolphins will be worse this year than last year? You're the one that keeps asking people for reasons why we're not ready to write off an entire season 8 months before it begins, yet you are yet to provide an adequate example that meets the criteria that you yourself created. If we have no reason to be optimistic, then you have no reason to be pessimistic.
Fair enough brother. You don't have to subscribe to my views. Don't start none, won't be none, as they say. People engage in value and speculation every day in real life that isn't sports. The human aspect in the NFL is just like any other human aspect. If Harrison doesn't get the INT, the Steelers probably don't win the SB a few years back and, so on. Right now, until I see some solid evidence of at least a sound framework, I'm not going to invest. Sure...I'm a fan, and I'll watch..And I'll experience personal growth. For instance..This year was the first year I've watched Dolphins football in my den, away from my kids and wife, because we've all agreed I need to be separated for the good of all involved, and, my wife's peeked in to see if I'm sleeping. I'm not. I'm just resigned. I signed a contract with TunaCo. They said they had a three year plan. I was not only not returned my investment, I was defrauded. I know most of you don't give a crap, but I do. If someone tells me something, I take them at their word....That's just me though. Three chances is enough. I have faith. I really do and I'm charged up about '12. Not '11.
If you loan out money to a guy and he doesn't pay you back 2 out of three times, are you more or less pessemistic he'll pay you back the fourth time?
If you ask a guy a valid question 3 times and 3 out of 3 times he doesn't give you a straight answer, how optimistic are you that you no longer care what his opinion is on the issue?
Well, for me I am a bit dubious about 2011 tbh about it, they did not hire experienced Staff so the results cannot be projected, which makes that a slighty negative aspect as unknowns are "known" in the sense that they have not proven themselves and it is far easier to fail than succeed in the NFL. However, no matter the Staff, unless there is talent added it won't matter. I am not a subscriber to the "magic coach" theory, there are some coaches who do instantly improve units, but they are few and very between.
