Wow, he sounds serious as well, of all of the Vet Qb options I'd have to say he is the lowest risk expenditure.

I wonder what would be asked for him?

I'm guessing quite a bit as Brown and Marvin Lewis, if you believe what they say, want Carson as their QB this year. I saw Mort talk about it live a few minutes ago and said that Palmer is prepared to play the "retirement" card to shake free. Mort listed possible landing spots as Seattle (Pete Carroll), San Francisco (Carson's wife is from there), and Arizona (mentioned Wisenhunt, but I'm unaware of any direct connection). Might help shake Hasselbeck shake free from Seattle, which I would say is option B, if Carson is option A.

Well R4, what I like about this, and the VY situation is now there are two more teams that could be in the market for a Qb in the top 10, which means we have tastier prospects at #15, which we will be able to keep if we land either of those Qb's, for us this is a win-win.

I've said all along, imho Cam Newton will be a Bengal, he just fits the way that they think, lots of flash, results do not matter, Palmer is over priced for how Brown runs that team.

Imho, a 2011 #2 and Brian Hartline gets that deal done.

Where exactly is this coming from? Did Palmer have a problem with the Bengals during the season?

Brown was the one who gave him that contract and he, and Marvin Lewis, said they want him in 2011.

    It's a waste of time.

When are we going to stop taking other teams garbage?

If you get Palmer maybe you win 10 games. Are we making it to the SB with Palmer?

This franchise has QB phobia. Terrified of making a real investment in the position. And the fans have become a crew of mental patients shouting "we're close!!!!" while waiting for the Chief to smother us and put us out of our misery

I can live with Hasselbeck for 1 season if we have a rookie this year. I can live with Hasselbeck for 1 season if we make a move for Luck or another prospect next year. I can't live for 1 season if we stand pat with only Chad Henne and/or move for Vince Young.

I want Palmer at QB more than trying to trade up for a QB in the draft. I don't know what exactly I'd give up for Palmer (if anything) though.

I love you guys that say this...but have absolutely no idea how to make it happen...

    Fine...Im Ross...your Ireland.

I want you to invest what ever it takes to get a franchise Qb.

Now...which Qb would you go get and how would you do it.

Palmer would be a good option if he were free. No way I give up a #2 and Hartline. That's about what we gave up for Marshall.

Palmers worth a 4th or 5th. It's been rumored he needs both knee and elbow surgries.

Palmer could use a fresh start. Miami would be a good place for this.

A #2 and Hartline is much more than I'd be willing to give up for Carson Palmer. IMO, his best days are behind him. However, if Ireland offers that up, no doubt Cincy would probably take it. They'd be robbing us blind IMO.

However, all for not, we dont have a 2nd rounder anyways

    Turrible idea.

This sounds like Daunte Culpepper all over. The "or contemplate retiring" addition is almost as big of a red flag as his elbow is.

I would identify which qb I liked and then work to acquire him. If it took a combo of picks this year and next I would do it. If we could trade players as well I would do that.

No one said it would be cheap or easy but things that are worthwhile rarely are

Yes please! Palmer or Orton will make a happy man.

IMO, both are a lot better than people give them credit for, and Palmer screams of a guy who needs a fresh start.

Yes...but your making the assumtption that we are scared to do what it takes to bring in a top QB.....but....what if there are not QB's available this season that fit that bill? Why would getting Palmer be a waste of time?

Well, the good thing is we played the Bengals this yr so they have a handle on Palmer's strengths and weaknesses, add in Daboll saw him twice a yr so if they made a move for him, or not, they would have solid information behind them.

And keep in mind, if he were acquired it will not be for picks in this yr's draft.

If we are going to trade for a QB, which I still say to keep Henne, the only person I would feel comfortable with would be Orton, no other vets or Rookie QB's.

This and the fact that Carson is damaged goods? Absolutely not.

Carson hasn't been good in years. There is no fresh start. The guy blew out. Quite frankly, if we're using that logic, I'd rather have Bulger (which I DON'T!).

We need to spend a first on a QB and build around him. Locker, Newton or Gabbert.

Well, that is not quite so, of Palmer's interceptions something like 9 of them came from trying to force the ball into Terrel Owens, it is not accident that when TO was shut down Palmer had outstanding games to end the season.

It says a lot about how desperate us Dolphins fans are at QB that we salivate over other teams throwaways and retreads. But as fans, I wish we could learn from the past and realize a retread / washed up QB is not going to fix anything for us. I guess the only thing that matters though is if Jeff Ireland knows this. Hear's hoping...

Well then that has something to say either about his leadership (who's captain? him or TO?) or decision-making (why throw to covered receivers?) abilities. Why wouldn't he do something similar with Marshall? I LOVE Marshall, but he's pretty much a young TO from his play-style to his attitude.

Sure I want a QB that makes plays, but more importantly, I want a QB with his head on straight and a QB that can win games. Not only has Carson not been able to win games, but I think any time a player demands a trade, it says a lot about who he is as a person. He's giving up on his team. He'll do the same here.

Trade talk is pretty much moot this off-season. Trades can't happen till the new CBA is in place and odds are high that the new CBA wont be in place till after the draft. And even when/if the CBA is put in place there is no guarantee that we would want to trade for Palmer or be the team to get him. You certainly can't plan your draft around the chance you'll be able to make a trade or pick up a FA in the coming months. So yeah, anyone holding on to the dream that we're getting Carson Palmer, I would suggest letting that one go.

How is he another team's throwaway? The Bengals want him. Palmer is the one who wants out.

If Palmer is fed up with the Bengal's inconsistencies and ready to retire over it, what makes anyone think he would want to play here? Sounds like Carson is angling to go to a team that offers more than we do. San Fran might be an interesting fit. Have a good base in Gore, Crabtree and Davis, a developing OL, a decent defense, a lauded new offensive guru coach, and playing the weak *** NFC West. Seattle fits too, but I don't really think they are as good as the Niners despite the records.

I doubt he wants to come here.

    Yeah that and elbow surgery.
I was reluctant to even take a chance on Palmer if he was released.
There is no way in hell I would give up anything higher than a late round pick.
    Carson is damaged goods.
People are whining so badly for a QB they would be willing to give up just about anything for whoever. It is getting ridiculous.

I was too skeptical on Palmer until i read ckparrot awesome breakdown on him. Too bad you guys cant read it in the club Level.
the only thing im concerned about is his salary and whats it going to cost us to get him?

We don't have an all world defense or a receiving core of Boldin and Fitzgerald. Also Warner is better than Palmer.

But yeah, other than that, make your reservations for Indianapolis

Wow was that a snub? Well done. :wink2:

Honestly I doubt it was mentioned that we would have to be out of our minds to give them the comp they will be asking for. They value him high without the situation. Now the stakes may be higher. We aren't getting Palmer for a song man.
