Hopefully this whole fiasco wakes people up to how much of a fraud Bill Parcells is.

I wasn't around here when he was hired, but I am sure fans of the Jets, Pats and Cowboys warned you about him. I still think the guy did Miami some good.

He got us from poor to mediocre. It's obvious what's holding us back from proceeding further, and he doesn't seem to have much to offer to fix that.

Parcells puts smelling salts on his Superbowl rings and waves them under peoples noses to remind them.

It's B. He's the guy who is wrong often, but bumps the two year old thread to say, "I was right."

    It's kinda gross.

It's 2011 not 1986, NFL game is passing not 3 yards and cloud of dust.

This is the 1st time I've agreed with you so far X.

And exactly the reason I am glad Ireland and Sparano have been given a chance to stick it to the "friend" that hung them out to dry.

I realize the odds are long, but it would go a long way in exposing him as the fraud he really is.

Feel free to start making a habit out of it :) Anyways, Duane Charles Parcells (his birth name) is perhaps the biggest shyster in the NFL. He's the Bernie Madoff of professional sports. He takes a franchise's money, robs them blind, fails to deliver on promises, and gives little to nothing back in return. With this latest report about him advising the Jets while he was still Dolphins VP, if I'm Stephen Ross, I'm taking Duane Charles Parcells to court and sue his @ss for breach of contract!

Please. Those rings are about as old as the two stone tablets Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with. Those rings have lost their luster, different time, different players, different type of mentality in the NFL altogether. Duane's philosphy is about cornfed lineman, and three yards and a cloud of dust. That style of play just doesn't work anymore. Unfortunately, Duane has all the talking heads at ESPN so far up his rear they can't comprehend what a fraud this guy has been in the last two decades.

He gets too much credit for turning franchises around who could not get much worse .

The Dolphins were 1-15 .Any head coach could probably turn that around by just showing up and drafting some good players with their high draft picks.

The NFL was designed for parity so it helps the teams that suck.

That is his schtick.Pick a team which is at a low point.Charge a fortune.Put a couple of his cronnies in charge .Then walk away to claim he established the basis for a winning team if they win or claim that he was not responsible for the errors if the team does not win like the Dolphins.

I pity the next owner who falls for his schtick.

So if the game passed him by then the advice he gave to Rex must surely have been useless. "3 yards and a cloud of dust" the newest catch phrase I've been hearing. I already can't wait for it to go away.

As was already said, Parcells took us from poor to mediocre, so he did do some good. Now I'm glad he's gone. I look forward to seeing if Ireland can do for the offense what he did for the defense, and that's turn it into a strong unit. He better or we'll be looking for a new head coach next year.

That has nothing to do with it. The past 2 seasons we've had a hard schedule and came away with 2 mediocre seasons. We need to bring in some talent on offense to turn mediocre into successful.

Kyle Orton and Mark Ingram is a good start.

the disgust and anger doesnt come from taking the job, it comes from the fake motives, goals, intensions that followed....

How anyone can spin this in favor of parcells is beyond me....You respect the job he did? you respect his vision for us? you respect how he left?

The man stole money from our franchise.

    Stephen Ross?

Parcells staying here would have entailed he was either doing Stephen Ross' job, or Jeff Ireland's job. Both of which would not have been ideal.

Embarrassed? Nah more like he is laughing all the way to the bank. He basically took a desperate organizations money to turn them around, and left them in the same mess but only a few years later. He came to do what he wanted to do, get some quick cash and turn a team around. He did that, only problem for us is, the team he turned around was the NYJ.

yup i respect everything he's done for this team. the man is known for building championship defenses and in three years we built not just a championship defense but a young one unlike the Jets who will be dismantling year by year as their players are lost to free agency and age. He gave us a GM who built that defense and had built a decent offense his first two years but needs to rebuild it due to having to replace the oline. Love everything about what he's done for us. Best move Wayne ever made

If Sparano and Ireland overcome this pressure and succeed, which I hope they do and will be rooting hard for our coach, I will forgive Parcells..If thats what your banking on Prez, than OK. I get that.

Like I told Dave, this isn't really news, but it IS embarrassing.

This isn't some dirty secret that only just now got aired. Parcells was plain about his recommendation to Tannenbaum in 2009. I knew about it. I know others did. I'm not prescient, it was reported somewhere. And I also remember it being reported that Rex Ryan reached out to Parcells during the 2009 season, and that Parcells gave him advice. I remember Ryan saying it during one of his press conferences, I remember discussing it on the boards.

Seemed like nobody cared back then. Now, obviously, they care.

The thing that is embarrassing to me is if Parcells is indeed (as has been suggested) trying to take credit for the Jets' success.

I understand that once Wayne sold the team, Parcells was basically a bird out of his cage. I get that. He did work for the Dolphins, but it was with the understanding that he's beholden to nobody, not contractually obligated to anyone for any reason or anything. At any minute he could take all the money owed and walk. So, given that, would we rather have him around "helping" (I use that word with much derision), or would we rather he have no part in Miami's doings at all? I think Ross made the choice he'd rather have Tuna around even if he was going to do things like help or talk to other teams.

Personally I think that was a bad choice. Once loyalty is in question, you cut ties. Parcells had no reason for loyalty once Wayne sold the team. But of course of Ross had done that, he would have been FLAMED mercilessly by Dol-Fans.

The worst thing to me is how he admits that he felt Rex Ryan was a special breed of coach, putting him into an elite category with the likes of Bill Bellichick, and then proceeds to admit he hired Sparano instead because they were buddies in Dallas. Most of us suspected it but getting confirmation makes it worse to me. Rebuilding the Dolphins clearly was NEVER his top priority, or he would have hired who he felt was the best coach for the Dolphins, not send him to the Jets essentially. I'm sorry but if you care you are not going to let a coach you think is truly special just walk away from the team you're supposedly responsible for.

Sounds like Parcells just took the job to be able to vacation while getting paid for working. If team won he gets credit if things go sour he walks away.

So you believe it's fine for an executive with one company to offer professional advice
to an executive of another company who is in direct competition with his company?

I can tell you that's NOT considered cool at any level.

If I ever meet Parcells I'm going to shake his hand and say THANK YOU.

I am SOOOOOOOOO glad that we didn't bring Ryan here. If Ryan were our coach, I'd quit bring a Dolphins fan period. No amount of success is worth dealing with that pile. As far as im concerned he did us a favor.

If anything the Dolphin fans who bought into Parcells being a savior should be embarrassed.
I see the same people who loved him dearly and worshiped him in the beginning now sending death threats.
If you don't elevate expectations you might not be so angry. It looks foolish.
