These are the final rankings from PFF on our Dolphins D. Soliai- #10 of all DT's and NT's. Langford- #5 of 3-4 DE's. Starks- #10. McDaniel- #13 Dansby- #12 of all ILB's Crowder- #17, all based on vs the run. Wake- #4 of 3-4 OLB CORRECTION Misi- #7. Bell- #8 of all S's. Clemons- #61 S Smith- #8 of all CB's Davis- #14. Fields- #2 Punter in the league. Had to add that in. With all the moves, youth, and adapting to Nolan, these guys were FRAKIN FANTASTIC! Ross better get out his check book and re-sign Soliai and McD, and we have Odrick, Edds, Jones, and Carrol who will add to this D. Just wait 'tll THIS YEAR!!!
I do not believe that Clemons was as bad as his ranking. I do believe that Jones is gonna take his starting spot. He has a "Pinocchio" type nose for the football.
The thign with CC is his talent has not matched up to his performance. How can that dude run a 4.34, and not show that sort of range? I like CC, but he is a work in progress
How does Misi get #7 OLB and how does Bell get #8 S? Neither one were exactly spectacular this season. Not enough so to be considered top 10 in the league at their position. What exactly goes into the equation that calculates these ranks? I can believe Wake and Davis and Langford, and even the rest of the guys to a lesser extent, but the rankings for Misi and Bell just seem highly inflated for players that didn't do anything to warrant it.
I thought CC played pretty well. He was an upgrade from last season in that he was in the right position but, is still learning. He has to beat Jones this year, which will not be easy by any means.
PFF watches every play, and grades every player. They do not grade someone by the spectacular, just their overall play in every game. Did they beat their man? Were they where the were supposed to be? I refer to Nolan, who said that Misi did a lot of the dirty work which does not show in stats.
im hoping reshad jones steps up and steals the starting job from clemons. jones seems like a hell of a play maker and maybe just needs to learn where to be and why so he is more often in the right position to take advantage of the skills we all saw flash. i remember at the end of one game he came in and made 4 huge plays back to back.
clemons seems like to soft of a push over to play safety. bobbling catches and letting recievers take the ball from him and missing some tackles. but he was an upgrade over gibril wilson and did make some nice plays (i think he made the goal line hit on rothlisberger to knock the ball out that THE REFS TOOK AWAY). just look at the how much davis and smith jumped up in the rankings. 8th and 14th. werent they both in the bottom 5 last year? and we all knew a lot of that was because of no help from wilson.
I'm surprised Smith is ahead of Davis in the CB position. Soliai was a beast this year and will only get better. Ireland needs to lock him up fast. McDaniels was a difference maker when he was in there all year too. How many times did we hear he tackled someone for a loss or batted down a ball? Dansby I thought would have been higher. Misi played really well for a newby. I hope Edds plays as well this year.
In 09 Davis and Smith were #27 and #28. Agree that Clemons made life a bit easier for both. I look at Smith, who could not tackle worth a damn in 09. He put n 10 pound of muscle in the off season, and can now tackle. This year, both will break out. JMO.
Those ratings are absurd I like Misi as a rookie but to say he's the 7th best outside linebacker in football is imbecilic Misi...41 tackles...4.5 sacks...0...int...0 forced fumbles Greenway..144 tackles...1 sack...1 forced fumble Anderson...130 tackles...3.5 sacks..1 int..1 ff Beason...120 tackles...1 sack...1 int...2 ffs Hawthorne..106 tackles..1 int..2 forced fumbles Harrison...100 tackles...15.5 sacks..2 ints..6 ffs Smith..97 tackles...3.5 sacks...1 int...1 ff Witherspoon..92 tackles..3 sacks..2 ints...1 ffs Briggs...89 tackles...2 sacks...2 ints...2 ffs Haggan...87 tackles...5 sacks...2 ffs Roth....86 tackles...3.5 sacks..
