I used to live in South Florida at a time when the only 2 pro sports teams in the entire state were the Buc's and the Fins. Oh, and there was this guy named Dan Marino too. I remember when Dan had the entire state rooting for him and the Fins because they were the best thing going and then Wayne rolled into town with his waste management business, and blockbuster video but that wasn't enough. He wanted to make an impact on south Florida so he became the owner of the Panthers, the Marlins, the Dolphins and he made a huge fortune off all the franchises. He won championships, went to the NHL finals and everyone loved him. He made lot's of money but he also poured lots of money back into the community building schools, and renovating hospitals, and giving millions more to charity. Wayne has been a hugely positive influence on the Dolphins and his community so it saddens me when I read post's on here saying negative things about the man. Believe me, he wants to win more than any of us and furthermore his decision to sell the Fins is in my opinion an emotional one and not a business decision. He isn't losing money as the owner, I just think he's fed up with the whole state of affairs.

If he does decide to sell it will be a sad day because he is the type of owner who is also a fan who cares about the players and the fans like us. Whatever his decision is, we should all be thankful for him at least trying to do some more good for our team.

Another way to look at this whole thing is that he feels guilty about the team not winning and instead of firing coaches, GM's etc....he instead has decided to fire himself.

I hope everyone stop's bashing Wayne because none of this is HIS fault.

Hey i'm with you i'm a fan of Mr. H. He's a good owner he just needs to hire some advisors with better football sense. The only thing he's really done wrong (that he's at fault for) since he's been owner is cling to Wannstedt for 6? years. You can't honestly blame the JJ hiring and/or the Saban hiring on Huizenga. And the Cameron hiring well, that's borderline. But I know for a fact the majority of FH'ers were in favor of hiring Cameron in the beginning, including myself.

I agree. WH is not to blame for the demise of the franchise. I honestly believe all his business moves regarding the Dolphins were with the teams and fans best interest in mind. The fact that he`s frustrated tells me he is also a fan,not only an owner. The Dolphins from a marketing stand point are still a money making organization so the team is not anywhere near bankruptcy. If he sells the team I think its more of an emotional issue then a business issue.

    Sorry, cant do it.

He spends a lot of money on the team. However instead of spending that money on making the team better its only gotten worse.

Clearly, there is an inverse correlation between the quality of a team and the amount of money spent on the franchise.

You're right, we should stop bashing Cam. I don't think anyone should fault Cam simply because he is in way over his head. I think if he were a qualified HC with good credentials then we could bash him with merit. However, he was an unproven HC in the NFL and now we know why. Hey, it was a nice, safe hire at the time, but he simply isn't a qualified head coach.

I was talking with FinFanInCali today and I told him my OPINION is that when players get to the NFL there really isn't a whole lot of teaching/coaching left to do. I believe the HC's main job is to motivate the players, and keep them thinking positively, and to come up with schemes for games. These are things Cam simply can't do and the attitudes of the players, and their public comments only validate this. What a shame

This is a completely meaningless statement. By definition, everyone who has never been an NFL head coach is unproven at the job. Babe Ruth, Jay Sherman, and Forrest Gump are all unproven NFL head coaches, though Gump was a pretty damn good player under Byrant.

While I agree its stupid to say he was an unproven NFL coach, I think its equally stupid to have hired him as one to begin with. His head coaching record prior to arriving in Miami was 18-37 at Indiana University. That now makes him 18-50 overall. I rather have a monkey with an 0-0 record out there than 18-50.

You are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else here, but I don't think it was a completely meaningless statement because I was just trying to point out that if he was such a good candidate for being a head coach then why wasn't he snatched up 3, 4, 5 or more years ago while he was doing such a good job as an offensive coordinator?? You mentioned Babe Ruth, Jay Sherman and Mr Gump as being unproven, well you are right my friend but then again they haven't been knocking on the door to be an NFL HC for the past several years have they??

It's comments like yours that really make this site unbearable at times. Please remember we are ALL Dolphin fans and we ALL want the same thing....for our team to be successful again. You really should try to not hate on other people's opinions so much. Now I'm trying to be as diplomatic as possible here because like I have said before on many other occassions - "everyone is entitled to their own opinions about our team on this site" and because of that, we should always respect what everyone says. If you would like to discuss this further to really understand what I'm trying to say then I would like to invite you to a phone conversation and I would DEFINATELY like to remind you that we are planning a road trip to the Arizona game next year. My opinion is that you should appreciate the spirit of a thread rather than be so critical of just a few words.

I hope you have a good Christmas brother and I hope to see a response.

Sarah, I hope you read my response above this one about calling other Dolfan's statements "stupid". I'm not being sensitive and I don't want to get into a war of words with anyone, but I won't sit back and let someone get ugly against me or anyone else here.

This website is a good thing and we should all be grateful for it. And to show our gratitude we should always be positive but judging by your words you missed that. The reason that websites like this exist is so that fans like us who love our team can have a place to leave opinions and share info about our team and the league, and occasionally make a few friends in the process. In short this is supposed to be a positive place with positive energy coming from everyone.

I really hope to hear from you again Sarah and I hope you have a great Christmas too.

It's quite arguable that Joe Robbie was a much worse owner than Wayne Huizenga. Joe Robbie was a reknown cheapskate who caused the early departure of several great Dolphins. Wayne has been absolutely committed to providing the coaching staff and Front Office everything they need to do the job.

Joe Robbie is generally well regarded now because he hired Don Shula to be coach.
Wayne Huizenga is considered a bit of joke because he's hired a succession of what have turned out to be bad coaches and bad GMs (jury still out on Randy and Cam).

Who would you rather have as the owner - the cheapskate who lucked out when Baltimore no longer wanted the greatest coach in history or the guy who is willing to spend his fortune to make the team better but hasn't had any luck in the HC/GM lottery so far?

I can only speak for myself, but Wayne deserves to be ripped. Let's go over the laundry list briefly:

    • Giving Jimmy Johnson full control (GM & Coach)
    • Allowing Jimmy to name Wannstache as his successor.
    • Giving Wannstache full control (GM & Coach) after wrecking Chicago's team.
    • Keeping Wannstache around too long and offering him an extension.
    • Hiring Saban AND once again giving ANOTHER head coach full control.
    • Taking too long to hire a real GM.
I'm sure there's more reasons, but those are enough. IF we get owners in here who have a clue (and that's a big IF), it will be a very happy day for Dolfans. Say what you will about him being a pillar in the community, donations, etc...all of which is very admirable; however, it's all about the bottom line, and Wayne doesn't cut it.

I agree the past 7 plus years haven't panned out at all for this organization, but giving JJ full control wasn't a totally bad idea and there were plenty of proven HC's getting the same power that he had. I also don't think WH makes a lot of the decisions on who gets paid what. Wouldn't that be up to the team president and the GM (Spielman)?? I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, but does the owner have final say so's on personnel moves etc....perhaps he is guilty of hiring the wrong president and GM's?? That is my opinion, I think Spielman and Mueller were and are the mistakes, but I still have a hard time blaming the owner when there are so many other people on the org chart.

I don't know brother, I am a big supporter of WH and what I hope happens is that he gets some good advice on who to hire soon, because I think if Cam and Mueller come back next year we might contend for that magical record of 26 consecutive losses.

    I hear ya.

The buck stops with Wayne. He owns the team. He signs the paychecks. He's responsible for the hirings and firings from executive management to the janitors. Who hired the GMs, coahces, CEOs? Wayne.
