Balthasar Gracian and the ***** schizm Balthasar Gracian was a seventeenth century Jesuit priest who wrote a book of 300 aphorisms called "The Art of Worldly Wisdom". One of my favorites being, "Hope for the best, expect the worst". And is that not what everyone here on this board is doing? If you wish to stay optimistic and hope for the best this coming year, then I say good for you! If you expect things to turn out ugly (...very), then I say good for you! If you embrace both concepts as being equally prudent and smart, then I say you are a wise fan who neither recklessly places his optimism on his sleeve, nor are you a shrill contrarian who fouls the masses with his negativity.
In 6th century BC, Sun Tzu wrote the "Art or War". That's more of the attitude I'm hoping for. No offense. Now that Parcells, Henning and Lee are out the door, let's see if Ireland can continue his run. I'm pretty sure McCoy is the only draft pick from last year not on the roster any more. Another year of that would get the has been stench out of my mouth.
For me, I guess I just never understood investing the time into following something that I hated, it made no sense to me. We wait so long for a NFL season to come back around, it takes a ton of bad news to really get me down about a team. For example the Wanny Era was enough for me because I knew Wanny was going to run the ball no matter what, there never was going to be any improvement, at least with the current regime I can reasonably expect to see somethings changed up with Wanny even though we were winning games I knew the Dolphins were just screwed.
What I love most Padre is that he continued to do the same run, run...**** 3rd and long have to pass at Pittsburgh.
