That is because the Dolphins fan base is full of uneducated crybabies who bash every single thing they do. Except of course they will support Brandon Marshall and his three TD's to the death. I hate player fans.

Very uneducated. I'll bet dimes to dollars 90% of these people complaining haven't watched or studied Daboll in action, EVER. But it's a bad hire, b/c they say so. I swear, Dolphin fans have to be the WORST in the league.

This offseason is shaping up perfectly for us to be in position to draft Andrew Luck in 2012.

Exactly, do not mind intelligent negativity, the ad infitium is a bit much.

    Wait what's this:

    Davie-

The Miami Dolphins have announced the hiring of a new water boy, Larry Bouchette, nephew of College Legend Bobby, has been named as the new "H2O Coordinator".

    Fan reaction was quick:

"THIS REGIME CANNOT DO ANYTHING RIGHT!!!"

There is nothing I see in his time as the OC with the Browns which leads me to believe Daboll is a good hire for the Dolphins. I think this hire says more about the lack of interest in the job by most of the top assistants in the NFL. It is very likely that most offensive coaches don't see Sparano and Ireland being here after next season so they had no interest in the job for just one year. Daboll could take the job because he was out of work with the Browns since Mangini was fired and he has nothing to lose. Perhaps Sparano had no choice but to hire Doball because no one else really wanted the job. Everything the Dolphins have done since the end of their season has only increased the chances that many season ticket holders will have no desire to purchase tickets next year. The Jets and Patriots are far ahead of the Dolphins in personnel. The Patriots have six picks in the first three rounds in the coming draft. The Dolphins have only two picks. So it appears that instead of getting closer to the talent of the Patriots. The Dolphins will probably fall farther behind the Patriots after the draft this year. The Dolphins are still several years and at least one coaching change from even being competetive with teams like the Patriots and Jets.

Fair enough. But I don't see the positive in this hire. Daboll really is a Henning clone.

I mean, come on, let's be honest though. No matter who got hired to be OC this was going to be the general reaction from the overall masses of the board.

Could be, since he is from the Belicheck Tree with experience during the pats' 07 Monster Season, he knows how to get it done with a 3 Wr set, for all of the complaining about the Browns, their offense was pretty much Hillis and Watson with a Rook Qb, a washed up Vet Qb, or a career #2 Qb and Cribbs being banged up.

Every OC's performance is ultimately capped by the players he has to work with could be that is what he ran into in Cleveland, add in Holmgren basically ordered him to add WCO elements to his offense during the season and what happened is really no surprise.

I disagree. Had this team actually hired somebody more qualified than Brian Daboll the reaction wouldn't be as nearly as bad as it is. Then again, this is what happens when you have a lame duck coach in Captain Fistpump. Nobody worth a damn wants to work for him.

Pretty much, especially since Sparano avoided the Gallows, everything since then has been relentless negative.

In true Miami Dolfan fashion, inside some Dolphins fans I think there is a small Jets Fan Troll dying to post.

Except for the fact we need to be able to draft Luck. If there is no season, my guess is we would once again draft 15th, and Carolina would get the # 1 pick two years in a row.

Wait a minute, Josh McDaniels, The Boy Genius (who got fired less than 2 seasons into his gig) was who traded Hillis away. Hillis wasn't used properly in Denver (a lot like Brown not used here).

You make a valid point. Of course he is coming to a Dolphin team that has a terrible offensive line and no running backs with any speed or explosion. If he is stuck with Henne as his QB. He will soon learn
why Henning retired. So while he may have ideas how to make the offense more productive. He will have no Brady, Moss, or Welker, to implement the type of offense the Patriots ran in 07. Until the Dolphins
give up on the Henne experiment and finally find and develop a real QB for the NFL. It won't matter who the next OC of the Dolphins is. If Henne ends up as the QB of the Dolphins again next year, they will be fortunate to finish ahead of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.

Unless he was handcuffed by Mangina his offense is very similar to Hennings. Vanilla packages mostly ground and pound, mixed with a short to intermediate passing game. Oh they adopted the wildcat too. I can without a doubt say if all the players wore the same uniforms and Henning and Daboll were calling the plays you would struggle to guess which was which. Sadly this hire leads me to believe Sparano is not going to get outside his comfort zone and open things up.

Now here is the thing, the Offensive Roster..is going to change..new players will be brought into Miami as well.

For me, the hair on fire stuff is funny as people think the entire 2010 offensive unit is going to be kept together for 2011.

When Nolan arrived they used the entire draft on Defense (minus #3 pick JJ) they spent 20 million on Karlos Dansby and jettisoned veterans fans loved like Jason Taylor, there were huge changes, why wouldn't the same thing happen on the offensive side of the ball?

I haven't read all of the posts and if I repeat what's already been said, my apologies in advance, but...I'm scratching my head...not over the hire, but over the ire.

Now what I know of this guy is what I've read and from what I've read he was with the New England Patroits at the height of their reign as one of the elite teams in the NFL. He has one or two seasons as the OC for the Cleveland Browns, a team lacking in talent, a team lacking in leadership in Mangini and a team in shambles from the front office down. Daboll was doomed by virtue of circumstance. He had absolutely nothing to work with in Cleveland.

Now he'll come to Miami. A team with a QB tht needs mentorship and hopefully he can provide that mentorship. A team with an all star WR in Brandon Marshall. A team with an up and coming WR in Davone Bess...a team with TWO all star running backs in Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. a team that does have a talented offensive line that was plagued by injuries last season, but should be healthy at the beginning fo the season.

Now I'm not saying he's going to come in and do great things, but what I am saying is based on his professional experience, the base is set for him to do just that. I hope he does...I really do. He wasn't first choice. I wanted John Ramsdell from San Diego, but this is what we have now.

Instead of already conceding next season, we should be looking at what he brings to the table and what we have that could make him, our offense and the Miami Dolphins a success in 2011.

I only saw Cleveland's game vs Miami, Carolina, NE, NY, and parts of a few others. IMO they're personnel was awful, especially at WR and QB, which can make it hard to be a vertical passing team. Like you pointed out, an OC has to work within the confines of his talent as well as the guidelines set for him by the OC. So IMO its not fair to say that Daboll is this or that solely based on what he did for Mangini. Gotta see the games before I know much of anything though. I'm dreading the thought of having to watch Cleveland's games, but it beats watching baseball so whatever.

You realize that the Patriots are built like that, right? Short passes, some tough running and a few trick plays here and there.

If we implemented the Patriots offense I would be all for it, but that is going to require shotgun and spread. If memory serves me correct our only QB under contract doesn't like the shotgun.

My biggest thing is in 09 when the Browns hit their hot streak based on finding explosions in their run game, they used the same plays this year with Hillis. Which accounts for Hillis production falling off in the second half of the.season after teams had a few game films.

Well, that means we need to dump Henne and find a quarterback that understands that the NFL is more than just a "3 yards and a cloud of dust."

My prohibitive favorite was Rob Chudzinski but after a good start, even the Chud man languished in Cleveland. I'm alright with the experience Brian "The Ball" had working under Charlie Weis because the college spread game is something that can no longer be ignored (compare the Henning-Gibbs stuff which is almost 30 years old). Especially considering we're also looking for a rookie QB in all likelihood.

miami fans got what they wanted. dont understand the ire. werent there countless posts saying that "anybody" would be better then Henning. Well congrats, Daboll is the very definition of "anybody"

it doesnt really matter though. system are overrated. every coach is well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of every system being used. it simply comes down to execution and that comes down to the personnel. we will add talent to the offensive side this offseason so we will be improved regardless of daboll calling the plays or henning or santa claus

If Daboll comes in and installs that offense, thats a different story. But I highly doubt he does anything different then what he did in Cleveland. which was awfulness...

I texted my buddy who is a huge cleveland fan and asked

"Did you see we signed Brian Daboll, what was he like the past couple years?"

    His response..

"I saw that. Hes horrible. Have fun. Get ready for no plays over 25 yards and a **** load of third and longs. and on third and 7 Brandon Marshall will be running a 5 yard route"

My reply "thats funny. sounds exactly like what we did this year offensively. our owner was quoted as saying he wanted to open the offense up...wow"

    "Definitely the wrong hire"

Thats his word for word coversation.

I understand he didnt have much talent in Cleveland, but lets not act like we have much better talent. Their running game was better because of Hillis and they still couldnt score offensively.

I am cranky I admit it I am sleep deprived since I blew out my back. There is one member who should be attacked for his cut and paste, twitter, MySpace, reporting.

Michael Lombardi was on NFL Channel tonight (read this, I did not see it)

And said we hired Daboll to install an offense like the Patriots. We will be going spread 5 wide.

Lombardi said Daboll and Josh Mcdaniels have similar offensive mind sets, but that Cleveland did not have the players to install the offense he wanted, as well as Holmgren wanting to go WCO...

Daboll could very well install a hybrid offense using the spread as well as two TE sets etc...

Those predicting conservative like last season might have panicked to soon

Bro then simple say hey brother this why we are talking about Henne because he is not a very good fit in Daboll offense because the QB he is looking for is....

You admitted your cranky and that is all good and fine but sometimes the way we answer other brothers on the site gets two pissed off and cranky. Sometimes you can say the same thing in a more round about respectful way towards someone you don't see eye to eye and still get your point across.

    Have a great night bro.

Was just going to post this. Makes sense seeing how they wanted to open up the offense. It will be interesting to see who the QB will be. Kyle Orton could be a real good fit.
