Damn. 6 dropped int's by Sean Smith. Sounds like yahoo reads these boards based on his assessment of Henne and out runningbacks
We need to find a QB with escapability? Sure Vick made plays but the guy got killed running for his life. Philly's line couldn't protect him and neither could ours. Here is one for these idiots at Yahoo. Fix the god damn offensive line and get some protection. These morons seem to think a QB should run first. Ridiculous.
I stopped reading here. Escapability appears necessary to compete against defenses now? Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan think otherwise. Give me a good pass blocking offensive line over a QB like Vince Young any day. Give me a QB that will stand in the pocket and deliver the ball to his receivers without causing problems off the field. And I've said it for the millionth time...Give Henne some time in the pocket, a good playcaller, and some playmakers around him and he will be just fine. edit: ^lol, Killerphins beat me to it. Yahoo sports mind boggles me.
I thought our o-line pass blocked fine and that it was our run blocking that was subpar.....Oh well, can't argue with Yahoo, I mean they have their own search engine and everything. Surely, they know more...
While Tony was watching those chunk yardage plays from Green Bay & Philly, I wonder if he noticed: Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Lesean McCoy, Brent Celek. Speed and play making ability. All would be upgrades over thier counterparts in Miami. Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones, Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley. Speed and play making ability. All except Jennings would be clear upgrades over their counterparts in Miami. Andy Reid/Mike McCarthy calling plays, or would you prefer Henning? Hmmmm. I know Henne isn't some type Pro Bowler, but this notion that all we need is Rodgers or Vick & we'll be lighting it up w/ 70 yd bombs and 5 play 80 yd drives is a little Kooky.
Here's another little article that I found and I thought might interest everyone. It's from Adam Schefter at ESPN. Dolphins' decision reverberates http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2010/columns/story?columnist=schefter_adam&page=10spot/10 "To this day, the Miami Dolphins are faulted for choosing to trade a second-round pick to Minnesota for quarterback Daunte Culpepper rather than signing unrestricted free-agent quarterback Drew Brees." "Miami interviewed Tomlin days before Pittsburgh did. One league source familiar with how the situation played out predicted this week that, if the Dolphins had offered Tomlin their head coaching job, he would have accepted it. But they didn't. On Jan. 20, 2007, the Dolphins bypassed Tomlin and hired Cameron. Three days later, after its coaching search had dragged on, Pittsburgh opted for Tomlin over Steelers assistant Russ Grimm. Now Tomlin and Cameron -- the Ravens' offensive coordinator since the Dolphins fired him after the 2007 season -- will square off Saturday, again, in a matchup in which the stakes are different but just as significant."
pisses me off til this day..Tomlin was my guy from the get... I had watched him from the sideline when we played the vikings at home that year...He blew me away.
Well, at the beginning of the year, our pass blocking offensive line was pretty solid, but then the injuries got to us. We finished with close to 40 sacks given up this year. In the first 9 games, we gave up 13 total sacks. In the last 7 games, we gave up 25 total sacks. This is why I think if we can get just 1 guard this off season (like Mankins) and keep our line healthy, Henne could at least get the chance to prove himself.
To me it is not escape-ability that is necessary but move-ability. The players listed all have the ability to move around in the pocket and keep their eyes down the field enabling them to still make a play or get rid of the ball. Henne has NOT shown either escape-ability or move-ability. As soon as he feels the heat it looks like he somewhat panics, puts his head down, pulls the ball in and is lucky to get back to the line of scrimmage but often results in a sack. He just doesn't seem to have that innate sense to take one step up or to the left or to the right to hang in there for another second for the play to open up.
Are the Dolphins still one big happy family? http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...1/desperate-times-for-the-miami-dolphins.html
Henne = puss-ability. "Oh noez I'm gonna get hit!! Stop, drop & roll thats what that senile bastard Dan Henning taught me"
Reads like a cheap cop-out from Teflon Tony. If our QB only had this ability everything would have been just fine. The oft criticized offensive play calling, weak game plans, the injuries and lack of speed had nothing to do with the incompetence we saw weekly. It was the QB only, he failed to execute, to create, to establish rapport with his play makers, not the settle for a FG, don't make a mistake approach that seemed to be the mantra of the head coach.
I have no idea what you're talking about. How many times have we watched him go down, arm extended, holding our breaths hoping he doesn't fumble. Half of his sacks he still has the ball out looking to throw. But yeah, even if he escapes, no one's open anyway.
"Experts" are saying we should take Cam Newton but believe the Red Skins will trade everyone for the rights to grab him as Shannahan sees him as another Elway...really? PLEASE don't let him go to Washington, please!!! They were saying Cam would be a good fit for us because Sparano likes to run the Wild Cat at times and he would not have to take Cam out. His arm is strong and he has Roethlisberger type size and escapability. He would be somewhat of a project but so what. I'd rather go 2-14 with him, get awesome draft picks next year and be great in 2012. Its better than picking 15th every year and being mediocre. If we want to go veteran QB, then I'd trade for Orton and sign VJACK and lets go into an aerial war with NE. Jests should implode by 2012. Either way I would love to see a concrete plan.
