We can and should bag on the Wannstache, but keep in mind, he won SB's as a DefCord and of all of the problems in Miami, his defenses were always solid, he would be a good "get" for the Bills so don't underestimate the 'Stache and his confused look.

Dave, take the job. The Dolphins need to beat you up after what you did to them. You owe it to them.

???? Did you know that he was wildly successful as defense coordinator?

We should weep if he got the job at Bills because he will improve their defense big time.

    (Praying Bills not taking him)

Who knows, maybe we can deal him Eddie Moore too?

Is he? I mean I loved Henne coming out but Fiedler at least made the playoffs with he and RW and OG and not much else.

His success in the NFL was almost 20 years ago. Those days have come and gone. When was the last time you saw a speed based 4-3 have success as a dominating defense? The Colts run a 4-3 but far from dominating. The 2007 Giants team was a bunch of pass rushers that were aggressive in their blitzes and laid off the vanilla 4-3 look that Wanny applies. Seattle in the early and mid 2000's were ok but a far cry from dominating. Wannstedt doesnt scare..he actually fits very well. His cover 2 is conducive to dink and dunk offenses which, guess what, we apparently excel at. :)

Remember when everyone hated Cam Cameron and we made jokes about him? Well, since leaving he is 3-0 against us including beating us in the playoffs.

I'm not making any jokes about Wanny, especially because he is a pretty good defensive coach.

As horrible a HC as the Stache was (and is apparently), he can coach a defense really well. It would be a upgrade for the Bills no question. I for one hope he goes elsewhere.

Jim Bates was the reason we had a good defense, not Wanny.

No one tries the 4-3 based mostly on speed any longer NJ, typically it is 4-3 Cover 2 with good passrushing ends and DT's of questionable size and talent.

My concern with Wanny is maybe he can rejuvenate Cam Maybin as a RDE, and the Bills have a good shot at Fairley at DT which means their front 7 would have a ton of talent, enough so that Capt Oblivious can do something with it.

If you have to explain a joke its not funny. The Feidler mention refers to the famous Wanny quote when Trent Green was available .Remember he said that he was not better than Feidler.

And he also won a National Championship as DC of the Miami Hurricanes (1987). If the Stache does become the DC in Buffalo there is a chance we fall to 4th in the division. The Bills have a pretty good O what they need is D. Wanny is a GREAT DC, just as long as you don't let him have any power over personnel decisions.

This would not be good news for the Dolphins IMO.

That is the nature of the AFCE though DJ, there are no longer "ducks" in this division, every division in football has 1 team who is a "W" most of the time, for example in the AFCN the Bengals most yrs, in the AFCE no one would put up with being crappy for very long.

And as it was shown this yr with us, a Defense can gel in a single season so we are at a bit of a Strategic Disadvantage as we have to rebuild an entire offense in one strike shortened offseason with a dubious to no Qb.

THAT is why I am an advocate for The Weasel, he is a flamming arsehole, but he can find that talent that we need to compete in the AFCE, the type of talent that does not cost us draft picks that we do not have to spend on them.

It may just seem like semantics, but this is not going to be a STRIKE, but a LOCKOUT year. Its a huge difference, since its not the players that will cause this stoppage if it happens, it will be entirely on the owners. The players have already said they will renew the old agreement with no changes and not asking for more. People need to know this, and I think that its always important to make that clear, because less knowledgeable fans may read that, and assume its the players.

Sorry to point that out, but its a pet peeve of mine. I've seen it referenced as a possible strike and that characterization is totally wrong.

But to get to the main point, The Weasel, if hired would make certain that Donovan McNabb is who they go after in FA. He and The Weasel worked together in Philadelphia. However it should be noted that Andy Reid did call the plays in Philly not Childress.

Jeff Ireland is the Weasel DJ.

This is a tough division, Bills are on the 4th pick rotation for the entire draft so they pick at the top of each rd, we know about the patriots draft picks, the Jets sooner or later will fold and fall, but that is the environment the Dolphins deal with in the AFCE.

We need Ireland to find the Manny Arcenaeuex's and David Riveras, no one else in the AFCE is as good at finding them as he is, that is our edge, the Weasel.

And this is a good thing for us how? Wannstedt is a great DC. Being a terrible HC has no bearing on that whatsoever. Great pickup for the Bills if true.

I agree he is a Weasel too, but I have heard it reference that Brad Childress was called a Weasel by many of the Vikings players too. Sorry about that, but I think most would agree with my premise as well, that if Childress comes here its more likely that McNabb comes here as well. I think McNabb is washed up, but this regime may have to gamble on him.

They gamble, and we (the fans) lose if that happens. They get to leave the Dolphins, and we are stuck behind with a franchise in shambles. Its getting more depressing every day.

My fear is that we are the easy "W" in our division.

I wouldn't be so sad with Childress -vs- the other people mentioned. Why haven't we gone after someone like Mangenious? He's from the BB tree and can run a O.

Childress is not coming to Miami DJ, he is guaranteed to make 3 million this yr, Sparano is making 2.8, if he signs with the Dolphins the Vikes don't have to pay him that 3 millie, why would he take that large of a paycut when he was making more than the Head Coach that is already here?

No B$, we could be the bills in 2011, our we could knock off of the Jets for #2 in the division, that is why this is the most important offseason since 2003 in Miami, will they make a dumb football move ala AJ Feely and L Gordon in 04, or will they make good football decisions?

For all of crap aimed at Weasel and Sparano, they have to get it right this offseason, if that means losing season ticket holders in the short term, then adios, wishing and threatening does not create results if they are to dumb to realize it then find something else to do.

Mangini made his bones as the DB Coach in New England, not as an offensive coordinator.
