Why would we get rid of a coach who has coached Henne his entire career........I guess the writing is on the wall

It has to be the system they are running. What are they doing different??? I am not asking to put you on the spot, I really want to try and figure it out!!!!

Because we do not know who was botching the two minute offense attempts? Someone was consistently laying an egg in the 2 minute drill..that and Sparano is no dummy, like firing Bonamego, there had to be some lambs up on the alter so to speak.

They are doing the same thing we are doing 2 Socks, the churn players, bring them in, see what they are made of and if they do not fit in out they go no matter where they were drafted, the difference is their starting 25 are far more settled with good to great to Elite players than we are, that is one of the keys to their success, their core rarely needs a major overhaul as they do it in stages.

One yr..say Vrabel and Seymour leave (for draft picks)
Next yr Jarvis Green leaves (FA one of the few who walk for no compensation) and Moss go.

We have no such counterpart amongst veterans to even offer for trade as they would have come from the 03-05 drafts..and those were disasters for us, that is one of the long term costs of those failed drafts.

Really, our defense was equal to the task of the JESTS ..... if only we had drafted Matthews .....

we can catch the JESTS with this offseason alone ..... the PATSIES, well - until Brady gets knocked out of football .... we will always be chasing them. But, I am not inferring that we can't catch them ... we can with a much improved offense.

Brady, if he wins the SB again this year - will certainly cement himself as one of the top 3 QBs of all time. It pains me to say that - but it's a hard point to refute, i don't care what stats that anyone uses to back an argument. He has already proven himself way, way better than Favre ever was.

Mike Vick is going to be a a FA next year. Eagles may may want him back either way Kolb wants to get tradded or start. Also Vince young is going to be free and so is jvaris jackson. Mcnabb is way to old. I wouldn't even think about trading cameron wake TOP DLineman IN THE NFL. Oline not to worry about most of them got injured this season and to be honest they gave henne plenty of time. Also I would let ronnie go im tired of watching him dance in the backfield when he aint got no rhythm. In the past three seasons he has gotten two knee injuries and always gets caught with one man to beat. Special teams is also an issue aside the obvious problem of not covering kick returns but we also need a dangerous return man. Maybe he could be a WR as well to help Bess and Marshall.

Vick will suck again next season. He sucked before he went to prison, defenses stopped scheming for his type of play, but towards the end of this season they had his number and he once again looked like the fight or flight moron he is.

    Kolb is intriguing to me.

Young, if he gets on and stays on the right meds may be pretty good.

    T. Jackson sucks.

McNabb is too old, we agree on.

Our O-Line did not give henne plenty of time and they couldn't run block worht a crap.

I agree we need a faster/home run type of back.

    ST's are just horrible.

BTW 2 socks, keep an eye on Julian Edelman, he was a sort of 1 yr fill in for Wes Welker, Welker is healthy (steroids) so Edelman is now pretty much expendable, but how the pats do things they will keep Taylor Price on the roster until they feel he is ready to play, then they will shop Edelman..or Welker.

nice point........I think our build is going to take longer then even I initially thought.

    Year 1

Sparano came in and we got Pennington......boom 11-5

    Year 2

Sparano starts what he was brought here for......building a lasting winning franchise...rooster is torn down in favor of a new defensive scheme and new younger players........inpatient fans and media is abundant. Everyone is screaming Play Henne.....play Henne....Sparano caves and in goes Henne.....7-9

    Year 3

More rooster changes and optimism is off the charts. People are talking playoffs. Henne regresses, coaches are not coaching and by game 8 Henne is pulled in favor of Chad Pennington. Sparano tries to salvage our season, unfortunately Pennington goes down after only 2 plays and Sparano is forced to put Henne back in. It is my opinion that the team quit when this happened. Players were not preparing and only going thru the motions. Brandon Marshall openly criticizes Henne and makes it known by yelling at Henne on the sideline he is not happy with Henne's play. Sparano is openly critical of Henne's play by use of body language and his attempt at benching him.
Dolphins finish 7-9 for a second straight year, Dolfans, in mass numbers call for Sparano's head and Mr Ross almost gives it to them. Cooler heads prevail, Sparano is retained and given a contract extension.

Now real questions are being asked and coaching changes are being made. Personal changes are certain to happen and speculation is running high. The deeper we dig and analyze we begin to realize keeping Sparano was a wise decision. Sparano has started laying the foundation to a long lasting competitive football franchize. However we are no where near our division leaders and we are years from being a solid football team. The core is being built and truly being competitive consistently just within our division is not going to be easy.

We are several drafts and several years away from being a great franchize again. We must invest in our head coach and give him time and Ross' money to piece together a winning, consistently excellent football team.

Patience and support are the two biggest things we can give to make out beloved Dolphins great again. A team that will be good for a long time to come!!

Perhaps on Sparano, the one thing you overlooked was in 08 we had a 29/53 roster turnover and Sparano had them playing well, since then his results have not been as good, I believe he got more mileage out of plug in players in 08 than in 09 or 10.

To me, the whole thing needs a shakeup.

Just as a correction, Sparano didn't cave, Pennington got hurt and in came Henne.

Both, imho Crowder and Williams should be gone, Brown and Carey should have on foot on the banana peel.

99% of dolfans will also miss this as it is one of the keys to the Pats success and one of the reasons for our slow pace:

-Pat Turner was a 3rd rd pick who simply did not see the field and was released to "boo hiss Bust"
-Julian Edelman was a 7th rd pick who did play sparingly in 09, rarely in 10, but now has trade value

The Pats do a good job of harvesting draft picks for players who made it onto the field but who are no longer really in the plans, the Dolphins, even the Irish Dolphins have not been good at all at doing exactly that same thing.

Eating White and Turner cost us more than a #2 and a #3, they cost us trading them for something at least.

With the revelation of "who" wanted those two being made public that situation should change moving forwards as Tuna's Cast of Characters turned out to fixate on certain prospects and they had the juice to have picks used on them, now that it is Sparano and Ireland, that situation is over.

The system is good and all that but what makes belicek so good is his ability to communicate his message, and how he gets his players to reach levels of focus that cannot be attained if it were a different head coach.

I would start out by cutting Brown..Williams..and Crowder...I have seen nothing in terms of leadership from those holdovers to our new players, iam not feeling their intensity and demeanor anymore... Then like I said, sign, Solai, Wake..MCD...

Agree, and I think we do need some new blood on the staff, it is like the holdovers lost their voice with the players, you may not have noticed Deej, but that kick return for a TD v the Patriots in the final game?

Only Rashed Jones hustled down field, every other member of the unit was pretty much going at 2/3rds speed, I also think Ryan Baker really should stick on the roster as he does whatever is asked of him and does it well..this from a 300 pd DE he is sort of our Mike Wright.

I also think Pat Cobbs should probably go, there just is not room for him and his fmr role, he fills in at jobs but he does not do them well, everything from kick returns to being a third down type of back.

That is the other issue, some of the coach's pet type players should probably leave not because they suck, but because every unit laid down that final Sunday, Sparano needs to send some messages.

Though I do think maybe Ronnie Brown should be kept if he can be signed to a reasonable deal as I think his style of running was not working with the crappy Oline play which is why we saw "dancing Ronnie" this yr.

    1) Coaching stability. Tony Sparano has earned enough not to be canned. Upgrading the D Co-rodinator worked in 2010, so an upgrade to the OC and ST coaching in 2011 should help provided we don't try to raze what we have and rebuild from scratch.

    2) Upgrade at a few key positions. If you remember the wish-list from 2007 we're in much better shape from a personnel perspective. No need to gamble the farm away, concentrate on getting some solid contributors rather than betting everything on a slew of high risk high reward players.

    3) Regain positive energy and momentum. I honestly think that if we'd won a one or two of the close home games we'd lost early in the year that the confidence that would have built into the second half of the season, but the season ended in finger pointing and duck shoving. IMO the difference between the Jets and the Phins isn't talent but the belief in their own abilities.

    4) Related to point (3) get everybody in the same canoe and rowing in the same direction, It did wonders for our defense and I'd like to see what Henne can do with an OC who's willing to believe in him and play to his strengths. But even if we do replace Henne we have to give whoever our QB is going to be a chance to get into stride and make plays without fear of getting yanked on his first dodgy throw.

    5) Continue to build through the draft. Apart from Jake Long we haven't drafted any superstars but we are getting a push of young players who have earned their shot in the NFL. It's not 2007 when we had a group of players that wouldn't even make the practice squad of the Pats, Steelers or Colts. Drafting another superstar would be nice, but getting a veteran core that has played together for a few years and believes in each other is better.

Overall I think the hurdle is much more mental than playing talent. 2011 is the season for Tony Sparano to show if he really is head coach material. I mean we wen't 6-2 on the road which is far from easy so the talent is there. The focus needs to be consistent.

got to play the cards you're dealt. no excuses.
by beating the patriots & jets consistently,
we emerge as a super bowl perennial contender
with a good chance of taking the BigEnchilada
competition is always a good thing.
I'm looking forward to 4 vicious games in 2011

the rivalry will become more intense & games more interesting
only thing uglier than losing is a cake walk

    the reality is
our only concern is to get our house in order
    with no excuses
    just do it!

agree with that....however I have this punch you in the gut feeling if Pennington fails to make it back we will be stuck with a Hanging Pic 6 Chad

It is amazing how popular Chad's have been in Florida

    You have hanging chads
    dimple chads
    swinging chads
    etc

I suspect we see Tyler Thigpen at Qb 2socks, though do agree Chad Henne is likely not going anywhere do to the labor issues.

Also think if we do hire Chris Palmer for OC Henne will improve, and maybe we see Ryan Perriloux on the practice squad.
