Mike Martz, but i know that isn't really feasible, so I say we try and get John Ramsdell from San Diego....promote him from QB coach in San Diego to OC in Miami.
Interesting choice, but it wouldn't surprise me if Belichick promotes him to OC the minute he knows someone is sniffing around. He's done that before.
I wouldn't count Penny out of playing QB VT...He's very close to sparano, and Sparano to him, and if he was wavering at all, this extension will put him over the top...I believe he feels like Dr, Andrews did somethin different to his shoulder, I sensed some confidence there, but what I do have a strong feeling about is Penny and Sparano will be working together in some capacity.
Is Brad Childress not a feasible option? I wouldn't mind having that sort of Andy Reid offense here, it seems to make QBs play better. I think he's got the experience to tell Sparano when to let him be aggressive and it would seem unlikely that he would get another head coaching offer in the next few years.
Highly doubt it. They are clearing out most of the offensive coaches and the rest will probably go when the new O.C. comes in and wants some input into guys.
Saunders would be an excellent choice. He is like 64 though so I'm not so sure he'd be overly excited about being an OC at this time. His roots to the Coryell system are deep and that's a good thing unless he went senile like Henning did....
i wish i could quote your spoiler. did you make that prediction before or after we traded our 2nd round draft pick? lol
Anybody watching the Norm Chow situation at UCLA? Hes make $500,000 per year but rumored to have piss off Rick Neuishel.
What about Norm Chow? He might be on the ropes at UCLA and I really didn't think he was bad with Tennessee. Adams falling in love with Young really killed him there and eventually cost him his job. Has a decent track record of developing and working with QBs but we just don't catch many Bruin games here in Georgia so I don't know what his schemes look like right now. Anyone got any input from the West Coast????
Yeah, I mulled over it last night. Chow is a very good offensive mind, but his stint with the Titans got him fired. Not saying he would not be a good fit but he did not have the best success in his short time in the NFL. Although it was good enough to make the playoffs.
\ Yea I really think that Chow wanted Leinart and got saddled with Young. From Day 1, I don't think Young could grasp what Chow wanted to do and the marriage went south from there.
Three names I posted to the list back on Dec. 21: John Ramsdell (Chargers); James Urban (Eagles); and Joe Lombardi (Saints) - all QB coaches on teams with very good offensive systems. I would love McDaniels but the Nolan (not Marshall) issue is where the problem would rest, imo. This is what I wrote about these on here back on Dec 21: b) James Urban. Eagles QB coach. He is an up and comer at age 35 and has really been exposed to the Eagles offense for several years (here's a quote): βI worked five years at Penn, and during that time I had the opportunity to intern with the Eagles,β Urban said. βIn 2004, I received a call from Andy Reid about coming in and working with him as an assistant to the head coach. I worked closely with coach Reid, Marty Mornhinweg [offensive coordinator] and the offensive staff. I learned how things were done in the organization.β Urban was then named offensive assistant/quality control in 2007 before being promoted to quarterback coach in 2009. The Eagles have had a very good offensive attack - even with, imo, an inconsistent McNabb - and their QB's do quite well. It is in the West Coast genealogical tree - wouldn't that be refreshing for Miami? This guy might actually be my #1 choice. c) John Ramsdell - QB coach, Chargers. He was with the Rams between 95 & 2005 and with Turner since 2007. He knows this offense and passing attack - a very balanced system that can be physically running the ball and get after it in the passing game. He's still fairly young, in his early 50's, and would bring a good mind to the game. d) Joe Lombardi - QB coach, Saints. Comes from another offensive attack that is diverse and formidable. Obviously it helps having Drew Brees. But, He has been with Payton for 4 seasons and I having a guy like Brees probably helps him as well. Probably too young (only 29) but still there's some real potential in this guy.
I've considering bringing his name up, but I would think at this point he is comfortable enough in the studio that he likely won't come back unless it's as a coach. Jim Fassel is another former NFL coach who may interest though. Currently coaching in the UFL, and unless I am mistaken has done well there.
I agree on John Ramsdell. I've been on his band wagon the past couple of weeks. I honestly...I mean HONESTLY believe that if we were to get Ramsdell, he MAY be able to work with Henne to the extent that we may be able to use that free agency and/or draft option on another postion that needs upgrading. I mean, Marc Bulger??? C'mon! He was a SCRUB, but with Ramsdell working with him, he came in to his own. I don't think there's any reason why he couldn't get the same out of Henne. Just my opinion.
I would think Carmichael could be interested. He does have the OC title in NO, but it's under Peyton who is THE offensive coach there. Looks to me like Sean is calling all the plays and he is really running the offense. Like being a DC with Nolan or Bellicheck as HC. He is OC in title, but Peyton is really the guy running the show. Here the offense could be more his. Definitely a big step up from OC under Peyton to OC here with an offense in shambles where he is really in charge of the O, with playcalling duties he doesn't have now.
I like McDaniels, Urban, Carmichael, Ramsdell. Don't know enough about Lombardi, but I could go that one too. I think they need to go outside for a fresh perspective, and a little youth would be nice.
I'm kind of with you here. I think if you look at our team we are similar to what the Chargers have. Obviously different results, but we have good WR's. Solid Running game. Good O-Line (when healthy). We have nothing close to their TE though. Still I say Similar. I have been back and fourth on Henne but I wouln't mind seeing what he can do with two things. A better offensive coordinator, and tony loosen the leash and let him play a little more free.
two solutions @ OC: 1) go after the Gator OC, Charlie Weis then move Pennington to QB Coach if that doesn't work 2) put Pennington in @ OC allowing Sparano to directly control the offense as Penny learns the nuances from Sparano, let Nolan make all defensive calls & decisions quick & uncomplicated, without disruption doable & feasible, sometimes the answer is under your very nose: Sparano/Pennington as OffensiveCoordinator & Nolan runs the Defense think about it...
