1. I don't want to trade for Orton, considering he's only got one more year on his contract. I don't want to trade for a one year rental (and it's on us to extend the contract) 2. I can dig VY. He's due a ton of money next year, so he will be a FA. We won't need to give up picks to get him, which is a good thing. He's nuts, but he is very talented. Sometimes all players like him need is a change of scenery. 3. I think Carson's arm is donezo. He looked good at the end of the year, but I'm not buying it. Plus, I think he signed some gargantuan contract a few years ago and is owned by Cincy for the next few years. I say we go for VY and draft someone like the guy from TCU or Gabbert in the third, if they are there. I don't think we can have Henne and VY on the roster at the same time. They both represent the same thing right now.
Marvin Lewis is keeping Palmer in Cinci, cross him off any kind of list. Some people are going nuts over Orton but I don't see it. Put up some impressive system numbers, but not a great record, I don't really think he brings much to the table personally. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on whatever team McD goes to anyway. Our best shot for a QB is and always has been the draft, no bones about it. You want a top flight QB, you need to draft him, barring a very small number of exceptions which depend more on luck than anything else. If our plan isn't to draft someone in the first, then Young makes the most sense. He has issues to be sure, but he has more talent, ability and experience than anyone on our roster now. If we want to "win now" then he would make more sense than anyone imo, certainly more than hoping Dan Henning was the ONLY reason Henne played like a turd sandwich this year. Euclid, Gabbert may be gone by the third overall pick, he won't be anywhere near the third round lol. Besides, how many second/third/etc rounders do we need to spend before we decide to actually *gasp* pick a top talent instead of hoping to find a diamond in the rough. All that path has found is fool's gold.
I knew it was just a matter of time before the threads would start popping up lobbying for Young. And, all I can say is no matter how much talent a guy has, if his head ain't right (and, his ain't), he's gonna be a problem. If Jeff Fisher, arguably one of the best "player's coaches" in the game couldn't deal with this guy, how is anyone else going to? He's a classic case of "me" and "I" coming before "team." No thanks...pass.
Im all for Vince Young.... Im like the chick from Major League "What I want, is for us to finish...dead last" -Errrrrrr your not a real fan errrrrrrrrrrr
Gabbert in the Third? You mean Third pick? Since Luck isn't coming out Gabbert has moved to the top of the Qb class. I had hoped that Luck would come out and we could manuver up to get Gabbert, but he is completely out of reach now. Cam Newton would be interesting but he needs work and could easily become Vince Young or worse. So you can put me in the no Vince Young camp. The guy is completely immature and has zero work ethic.
Eh, it's Gabbert or nothing. What a disappointment we are; we can't even screw up properly enough to get in position to grab Gabbert. I'm still for developing Henne, but I feel Gab is a special talent. Time to glance back inside my box to view all my hopes and dreams. What do you know-- it's still empty.
That's because with all the advancement in the treatment for HIV, it has become another chronic disease. The lifespan of someone with HIV has increased immensely. Look at Magic Johnson. With treatment, your viral count in your blood can potentially be zero, however there will always be virus hidden in lymph nodes. Pancreatic cancer, on the other hand, is a painful death sentence. Sorry for the threadjack... lol.
YES YES YES this is exactly what this team needs right now. Another distraction! Can we get him, TO and Ocho as well than were set for that SUPERBOWL right?
OK, I see a couple of folks saying Gabbert is a high first round pick. I didn't know people thought that much of him.
If Vince came here, Miami fans would probably have a greater chance of committing suicide then he would. Just sayin.
If the longest tenured coach with the same team in the NFL is willing to leave his job as coach of said team all over a QB like Vince Young then I think the last thing we need here right now is Vince Young!
VY is 30-17 as a starter. One of those few players whose stats don't accurately reflect play on the field. He has improved tremendously as a passer. Sometimes a geographic and age can do wonders for developing maturity. Don't trade for him, but if he is a free agent let him competed. If not, cut him. When your offense is 30th out of 32 teams in scoring it isn't like there is a lot to loose.
Good lord! I decided to get away from it all today and went on a swamp stomp up thru the Congaree. Wildlife, mud boggs, champion trees, awesome weather.......spectacular day! Was hoping the dust would settle and would return tonite to some better news. But what's the first thing I see? Vince Young threads. Aye yai yai.........
Over the past two seasons Young has a QB rating of 88.7 and 7.5 yds per attempt, 20 TDs, and 10 INTs. The Titans were 13 and 8 in games he started. He averaged 5 yds per attempt on 80 rushes. If we could get him as a UFA at a reasonable contract, then hell yes, I'm all for giving him a try. No matter how messed up in the head all the arm chair psychiatrists say he is.
