Wanny was extended before his last season here began. Coaches get extended then fired if it doesn't work out all the time. Sparano's extention is like paying lipservice to the players and fanbase. We all know Ross was going to replace him if he got one of the three availible coaches. How can you not see Sparano as a lame duck coach after all this?

exactly. plus the only player who has bad mouthed sparano is ricky williams and thats because he knew he was being cut and former jason taylor. brandon marshall loves sparano as do the other ten or so dolphins that showed public support. You want to see a team in disarray look at the Raiders whose players all stood behind Cable and Al Davis fired him anyway. This will unite the lockerroom not divide it

They love Sparano so much they didn't show up for half the season. I'm sorry. I'm not buying all this lovey dovey talk. Actions speak louder than words and more than once this year(and last) I saw the team quit on their coach and tune him out. It was pretty obvious.

to me the increased say in personel says that sparano maybe hasnt had very much say for the past few seasons. maybe some of the debacles with certain players were not on him. maybe the increased say is going to help the chemistry and character as well as skill of this team.

I tell you what blows me away is if the offense was a little better this year we are 10-6 or better and probably in the playoffs and everybody is talking about how good of a job Sparano has done with this team. I want to see this guy with a new offensive coordinator and a chance to put this whole team together.

Some people are sick of the "were so close" well I'm sick of the "we suck" people. I'm tired of people jumping on and off the bandwagon. Fact of the matter is if our offense was just middle of the pack this year, this team could have easily been in the playoffs. Now I think thats something we can fix. If you want to jump off the bandwagon thats fine, leave some room for real fans who want to believe in their team. I say, just stay the hell off of it when this team is good again.

I wish people would stop with the McDaniels crap. Look he & Nolan hate each other, and he traded Brandon Marshal because they hated each other. Geeeeesh.....get a grip people.

What makes you think we'll be instantly better ? A bunch of rookies coming in here aren't going to start, and trust me, a lot of FA's will treat us like Ryan Clark and then laugh at us and beat us in the regular season. Bro this doesn't change the fact we are still the laughingstock of the NFL & considered a pariah by most, if not all potential FA.

I wonder if this wasn’t Ross’s plan all along.

Outwardly, he disrespected Sparano by meeting with all of the top prospects even though he couldn’t sign any of them because they never fired Sparano or complied with the Rooney rule.

This alone has many disgruntled fans in Sparano’s corner that had already written him off as a bust
    .
Parcells and Ireland were the ones who gave him Pennington, Henne, White and Thigpen to work with. Penny had a great year in ’08 and the rest have produced nothing.

Looks to me like Ross has saved himself at least 20 million for free agency next year.

Oh don't worry I'm sure one will just drop out of the skies and lead us to a 19-0 perfect season. Its just that little ol' QB position, that ain't nothin'.

Writer must not know Chud is ALSO a former Cane player too....geeesh. When I was on the Alumni Board at the U, Chud was a freshman, and at the weekly Football breakfasts we used to have Chud (& other players) often sit at our table. He was a great kid and I'm proud of what he has done, and the good man (as a person) he has also become. I will be rooting for him for certain. But I know he loves San Diego (who wouldn't) and I think he's married to a gal from there so it might be tough to pry him away.

DJ, the 04 team was a Veteran one, JT, Zach, Madison and Surtain were all Veteran players, they also had Ricky Williams bail out on them right before the season, there went 50% of the offense and Wanny was feuding with Speilman who wound up trading for Lamarr Gordon.

This is a much younger team.

The guy we just tried really, really hard to replace....the guy whose players quit on him just 5 days ago....we just extended him.

And the guy we couldn't part with for our #1 choice (Bill Cowher)....we just shifted some of his power to the coach we dont really believe in.

Williams was not cut....how many times do you have to be told, his contract ran out....he is a FA and his actions show he is not coming back.

WTF ? Bandwagon ? Look you (bleep) anyone that is wasting their time posting here is a REAL fan. Who the bloody hell died and left you in charge of calling out ANYONE ? Just because they don't share your pollyanna outlook on the team as its constructed on the field or in the front office gives you no bloody right to call a single person out. Just WTF do you think you are ?

Typing a bunch of a crap on a forum doesn't make a you fan. DerrellRevis posts on here all the time, you think he's a REAL DOLPHINS FAN?? No he's a moron that comes on here and posts all the time. Whoopie. Who the hell are you to call out people who look at this team with some positivity?

As for who put me in charge of calling out people, I'm self appointed. I'll call out whoever the hell I feel like.

For the first time in 40 years I am seriously considering quitting this team. Total futility and bordering on neglect toward the Dolphin fan base. What is sad is that probably no Dolphin media guy is going to stand up tomorrow for this once proud franchise.

Even if the players did quit in that game, who cares? Is it the first time a team has ever given up in a game at the end of the season like that? Happens all the time. Look at the Giants and Tom Coughlin.

All I know is that a lot of players have come out since that game and backed Tony.

I'll keep believing that as long as we have a team that lines up to play on Sunday we have a chance to win. I'll keep believing that one day this organization will be great again.

I won't let a 7-9 season, not getting an unproven coach from college, not getting a guy that won 1 Championship in 15 years of coaching, ruin my outlook on my team.

Just by your examples, you prove that you'll never believe in this team. You use all these mythical referances things that don't exist as a comparision to us being a good team again.

There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something tomorrow.

The same fan base that went nutz when Ginn was selected over Brady Quinn?

The same fanbase that was unhappy that Jason Taylor was traded?

    That fanbase?

Henning already gone now David Lee being mentioned.
Henning and Lee gone were the NEEDS to be gotten rid of.
Send Lee packing and I'll be content. Not excited at all because lets face it we don't know how much of the debacle did fall on Sparano but at the least I'll know 2 of the major problems will be gone.

Who they pick as an OC will be next major challenge.
Who they go after and what they're MO is will tell us a ton about whether Sparano and Ireland are going to change or continue down the same path.

This move is the one that makes me shake my head about Ross not anything else he's done.
We refuse to take the GM out of the picture to land a proven top tier coach (Which I agree with by the way) only to shift power away from the GM to the coach were clearly not sure about?

    Ridiculous to an epic degree.

So while all this was going down and I was pointing how Ireland screws up everything he touches, people defended him? No Sparano is given more say and it was Irelands fault for all the failures? Interesting!

Just some heads up on Bevelle from the Vikes. One of my friends is a Vikes fan and cannot wait for the guy to be fired. Despite some of the gaudy passing stats from last year, my friend says Bevelle and Chilly are more of what we went through last year - bizarre play calls at the wrong time, running on third and long, poor adjustments and reactions etc. He says Favre was the only reason there was a downfield passing game. His description really makes me hope we don't go after Bevelle.

I agree and I'll problably get flamed for saying this but I truely believe they are cheating again. Once a cheater always a cheater. BB is just more cautious now, obviously, since he got busted already once he has done his homework on the situation and is more careful now.

There's no doubt in my mind that SpyGate is alive and well.

Of course thats just my crack pot theory regarding that team; I am sure 99.9% of you disagree, but whatever.

What a joke. Only a complete buffoon like Ross gives one of the bottom 5 coaches in the league a 3 year extension. Here I was getting ready for another year of mediocrity, now we get 3 more. Yay. Kidding of course, Sparano will be fired halfway through next season.

Gotta get our dux in a row on the coaching staff. One thing, I know I wanted a new HC...not so much because I didnt like Tony, more because I really hated his conservative approach and reluctance to fire Henning. A ton of this could have been overted if Henning was gone ages ago.

Get an OC, I would like to see Chad Pennington on the staff somewhere, start out similar to how Jason Garret did...maybe in 4 years end up our HC...

Senior Bowls are on the way!!!!
