He's a dedicated ******* I'll give him that much, I'd guess he really wants to stick it out and make it work in Miami.

Otherwise he could have taken Plan A, fire me and pay me sizzle chest.

I still want Gruden. Or, if you are keeping Ireland and Sparano, insist on getting to approve the OC hire and if pleased with it extend them two years so they have enough authority to run things.

Mianly, I don;t wanna see them making short term decsions out of desperation because of being in a final year of their contracts. That leads to giving away picks and signing bad players or risky ones PRAYING to get a QB to save your job.

I don;t wanna see short term desperation.

I never felt that way from the beginning.
Ross was going through a process to determine if the current direction of the franchise could be improved by hiring another coach.
He obviously felt that way but we weren't able to get the target. It happens. What would everone be saying if we had lopped off Tony's head and then landed no HC candidates that were worth a crap? We'd have the same posts talking about what an idiot Ross is.

I think the guy handled it perfectly.
He can't control media roaches swarming stories and he can't force Harbaugh to make the jump to the NFL.
Ross now has a Head Coach that knows he has another chance and should be motivated to change some things to produce.

Chance to be the head coach? Loves it here? Knows he can turn it around? There are a lot of reasons why he stuck around.

ihave no problem with how this was handled, even if Sparano was told nothing. unless Tony is brain dead, he had to know what was going to happen the minute that NE game ended. if it wasnt for twitter, people tracking planes, and every asshat on the internet citing his "sources", would we even be talking about how this went down?

    Of course he is dedicated.
He has no idea whether anyone will ever tap him on the shoulder for a Head Coaching job again or if he'll get casted as one of those "great positional coach but not a head guy" labels. He has every reason to be dedicated. This HC job may be his only HC job and he dosen't want to leave his first stint in a ball of flames.

Well the flip side of this is Sparano "keeps his head" so to speak, he has one more shot at making it work in Miami, if it does, he can write his own ticket somewhere else, if it doesn't his track record is .500 coach, so his downside is very low for sticking around to give it one more shot.

Maybe Sparano was the smart one, now he will resign in the next week or so saying he just can't work for a company that treated him that way. Now he gets more sympathy and screw's us at the same time.

Coach Sparano...He took the hit...and he stayed by his team.....I respect that.

He may have his flaws, but one flaw he doesn't have, is his love for our team..I'am sure he and his family felt humiliation in all of this, disrespected, 2nd rate, but if he stands up after all this is over, and doesn't say a word about the process, and that all that he cares about is coaching his team past this hurdle, and that he doesn't want to go anywhere but right here?...Iam gonna support and protect that mother grabber with everything I got.

I was excited as hell to aquire Harbaugh for the obvious reason's, but The character that is being revealed by this man {Sparano} and what i'am starting to realize, is what is most impressive about this man..The humility he is showing, is humbling to me.

    Its not whether Ross stood by him, Ross did what he had to do, and iam sure it was done in a more ethical way than the media would have you believe Its about Coach standing by us during this stretch that is most impressive, to hear all the bad, and the criticism, but yet to be willing to accept the challenge while keeping his mouth shout, will show great character. {and I realize if he quits he doesn't make his money}

I realize that some will say that he should tell ross he's leaving the team after he was dangled like this, and that would be the right thing to do, however I ask you to look deeper into his passion for our team...It's not in his makeup to leave us, no matter how he was treated...That is more impressive to me.

If this indeed is how he conducts himself..I believe and hope we all give him another chance, a clean slate, he will of deserved all of our respect..

I'm not buying into this report one bit. I don't think they ever really considered going another direction to be honest.

I believe Shefter that Harbaugh was never offered anything by Ross and the Dolphins.

That's what I said. If I were Sparano, I'd be hitting up the interest of other teams. Even the two college one's. No one would blame him for leaving.

Yeah, and I believe Peterson was there as well. WHY? Owner and GM go to recruit a HC, and Ross brings along a buddy who "should" have absolutely nothing to do with it.

what interest would NFL teams have in a HC coming off back to back 7-9 seasons?

I just can't get on board with this.
If it was that Cowher would prefer another GM to work with then I'd say see if that GM is interested then fire Irleand and get Cowher.
However we all know it's not that Cowher dosent like Ireland it's that Cowher wants complete control with no GM input.
I do not support that structure no matter who it is.

Giving coaches complete control is one reason we never won a championship with Dan Marino and why this franchise was run right into the ground.
A GM/talent evaluator is a distinctly different role than coaching is.

    It's not that easy bro.

This was Sparano's first attempt at a HC role.
He knows all too well that he may never be tapped on the shoulder again for a Head Coach spot if this ends badly.

Chris are you really sold that Tony is the guy to turn this around ? I am not. If we had fired Sparano, I believe it would be easier to replace him, and hire a whole new offensive side of coaches, than it will be for an emasculated Sparano to find a decent OC. I will be completely shocked to see anyone worth a crap take that OC job now.

How many of those husbands let all the neighbors and the wife know he is trying out new mates ? Holy crap I can't believe people can't see how bad this was. It's just not done this way. And on top of that, you make it known you are going to give the new girl furs & jewels while the wife has to stay home in her sackcloth.

In my mind...if this is true....

Then I see no problem with any of the way this has unfolded. It was his choice to stay...and really....the media is the one with all of the "sourced" rumors of him signing..or not signing Harbaugh.

If Sparano was given a choice....Ross is in the clear as far as Im concerned. You might be angry that he has kept Ireland on....but...whatever.

Padre as you know Ross met with Sporano and was presented with a plan on how to fix the team, he said he was happy with meeting, he then proceeded to look at other options didn't want to gut the coaching staff wanted some continuity.
Meets with Harbaugh and may not have been happy with the results of the meeting and walks without making an offer.
Comes home and says Tony lets do your plan.
What is wrong with that, the media blew this **** out of proportion.
If Sporano is offended he should resign be a man and fall on his knife, all this crap is his fault.
By the way Sporano probably said to Ross "I couldn't fire Henning because he's Parcells butt buddy.

WElll..keep in mind folks, no announcement from Davie just yet, and the media has been outside of the facilities since maybe 11am, Sparano and Ross and Ireland may not see eye to eye and this could end in a surprising fashion.

Would not surprise me if Sparano made some demands that Ross was in no mood to acquiesce to and things snowball from there into a Buddy Nix situation last yr.

me either. the only really appealing thing about harbaugh was that we could keep all of our front office people. to fire these guys is a waste of human capital (time, energy, expertise). they have spent 3 years working on the future of the franchise. ireland isnt the greatest, but he is pretty good. if he moves on or loses his edge, you look at the next talented guy in the building that has been burning time for the organization for a few years

coaching and managing should be separate. coaches earn personnel power over time. they cant be handed it
