Nice post. You pretty much summed up my sentiments, too. In one night my feelings went from elation & thinking "Damn, we're finally turning this puppy around coaching wise etc.... or at least making a major attempt to do so!"...... to now "Damn, we might end up worse than I would've thought if someone asked me a week ago". Despite the failure, I'm glad we made a serious effort to address the team; I only hope we can recover from it w/o being pushed back 2-3 years.
I'd rather have 1 than 15 if it means having watched the game rather than looking it up on Wikipedia. lol
The reality is that Sparano respect and wants to be with the Dolphins, not like a wannabe coach that he did prove nothing yet, but loves to play the big game and dance in the spotlight, toying with the idea of getting 8 mill. x year. Personally at this stage of the game if I was Ross, I would tell to that POS to get lost and go to f*** himself.
Where is this OC going to come from ? Unless he waaaaaaaaaay overpays someone you will not get a credible OC to come here, and then that is not a guarantee of anything unless they get better QB play.
What a god damn joke. Not that we didnt get Harbaugh, but that we're keeping Sparano. You cant possibly have this guy back after the debacle you've created surrounding this choice. Ross is a moron, and has made a complete joke out of this entire franchise for the week. Nobody is goign to want tos ign here as a FA, or even OC for that matter given the current set of circumstances. At best, we're going to promote someone within to OC already, so the problems we've had will just carry on as they always were, just under the guidance of different names. What a complete joke this whole ordeal turned out to be. Ross needs to hang the for sale sign up, because he's lost ALL respect around the NFL after this, and this team will no nowhere under his ownership as a result probably. What a joke.
I am not so sure we should jump to conclusions...Unless I missed something, the ESPN report came from Chris Mortensen who was late and frankly wrong on some info earlier in the week. The article posted on ESPN says Ross did in fact talk to the agent when he flew south. I do not think this courtship is over... "Ross resumed the meeting Thursday night with Harbaugh's agent, David Dunn, in Southern California after the Dolphins owner traveled south to satisfy an unrelated business commitment following his meeting with Harbaugh, the sources said." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5997519
Sparano stays and I'm glad! Ricky can piss off, he is obviously unstable--meditation, smoking away seasons, living in a tent, saying he is one thing than another... Then to bash Sparano, Marshall and say he likes the Jets???? Henning is gone, YAY!!!! Henne struggled and needs some competition, but I would bet he overcomes this. No Vince Young! I don't see him being any better than Henne. OC is priority #1! Resign Ronnie, keep Cobbs, ditch Hilliard and get a burner at RB and WR. Make sure Nolan is happy and get Dansby healthy (who was obviously missed those last couple games), upgrade Crowder if possible. That is my humble opinion and I'm sticking with it!
Cmon, how can you? Clearly Dolphins ownership doesn't. How the hell are we as fans or, more importantly, the players supposed to? Let's call it like it is -- going back to Sparano at this juncture is absolute worst case scenerio. Remember earlier in this whole process when fans used the 'we could conceivably be worse off without him' line as justification for leaving Sparano twisting in the wind? Well guess what? We are now.
I heard this AM that he is being retained from Adam Schechter (sp?) It makes sense with the CBA expiring to bring in a whole new system seems unrealistic. Plus ownership wants to keep the GM and the D Coordinator, and generally HCs want their own staff. Adam did say there is a massive OC search going on though... I just hope the Fins are not stuck in mediocrity for the next five years, finishing 6-10, 7-9, 8-8, every year and attaining mediocre draft picks. I'd rather be really good or really really bad so that we can get awesome players and rebuild like that. Although that obviously has not worked for Buffalo, LOL. I now more than ever believe if Cam Newton is there we have to take him. If he is awesome then he elevates the team immediately if he sucks, then we regress and start getting picks at the top of the draft. Just my 2 cents.
I think the bad guys may be the media on this one. I'm gonna hold judgement until the facts are known. Pudge Lacanafora and Mort and the rest of these dopes never get held to the fire appropriately. Let's not burn the village yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't you guys think this situation has been handled in an unprofessional manner? Interviewing coaches while you guys already have a HC. Then you guys decide to retain TS but not inform him. Not trying to start any beef because as a Jets fan, I'm the last to talk. I just never seen anything like this before.
Sparano and front office talking contract extension and raise And now it is time for the other shoe to drop. With the Dolphins and their ownership turning their attention back to keeping Tony Sparano as the club's head coach, the idea now is to find peace within the ranks before presenting a calm, happy, united front before the media in a press conference that is planned for today but whose exact time has not yet been scheduled. Well, to get that family portrait just right the Dolphins must make coach Tony Sparano a happy camper. And after a week in which ownership said things and did others, kept Sparano employed but also sought ways to replace him, bringing Tony Sparano back to a state of joy is going to require some hard work. And that is the work that is happening now at this hour. A source in the ownership group tells me the team is working on ways to soothe thing over by, among other things, discussing the "adjustment of Sparano's contract." I suppose in regular everyday English that means the Dolphins are going to talk with Sparano's agent Jimmy Sexton about some sort of contract extension or pay raise or some guarantees of some sort. Just got this hot off the presses. Inside source giving Armando all this info. Do not pass around, top secret
MB.... Had to stare at that tush in your sig just to scrub the image of those two from my eyeballs....how is it possible to be THAT ugly?
yeah kind of like tiger woods buying his wife a diamond ring after she found out he was cheating on her
There's been a lot of different stories floating around over the past few days. No one except the team knows the truth.
If they did do the job hunt, then they basically neutered sparano in front of the team and the world. Now they have to play like they were just looking for an oc or something and make it up to sparano.
I just want our front office to say something to a camera. Let us hear it directly from their mouths.
All reports I have seen said Ireland went to bat for Sparano, I have only seen a few saying they didn't like each other.
