There will be no FA without a CBA. As for an OC, remains to be seen, what I expect is the guys who were looking for work heading into 2010 and did not find it will be more than happy to come to Miami, recall Martz was out of the NFL for a yr or two before the Bears, after exhausting all other options, hired him.
I would bet the farm that after Luck decided he wasn't going to declare Harbaugh had a change of heart and decided he wants to stay at Stanford next season. Anyone blaming Ross for the last couple of days is not being rational or fair. Ross, according to unnamed sources, was willing to shell out more money to a head coach than has ever been shelled out before. Why is that bad? What else could he have done, put a .45 to Harbaugh's head? The only thing ridiculous around here is the irrational diatribe being strewn about by "fans". We have an owner that has proven he wants the best and is willing to pay for the best. As the OP wrote, don't feel sorry for Sparano and don't think the rest of the league feels bad for Sparano. This is how business works. You either produce results or risk getting canned. The fact that we don't know what Sparano was told is enough for me to withhold judgement on anyone. I'd also bet that Sparano was informed that Ross was going to shop around. He could either resign or wait it out. Sparano decided to wait it out. If I went to work and produced 43% of the time, which is what Sparano has done each of the last two seasons, I'd be **** canned. Just because some people work at Wal-Mart and can get away with taking smoke breaks all day while listening to their iPods and hiding in the stock room doesn't mean the rest of the world works that way. If you're making a decent income you will be held to a higher standard. Tony makes one hell of an income...
Is what it is, the meeting did not end as expected so the Fins decided to keep Sparano and just do a massive OC search. McDaniels is out btw because he and Mike do not get along whatsoever.
Silly man...don't you know all Sparano has to do is come up with another cute catch phrase in the offseason like "Eat The Badger" and all will be well. [/sarcasm]
I have expressed a lot of anger. But ultimately what the fan base shows Mr. Ross will speak much louder. I have to believe this will leave a scar. And the logical defenses of this regime. Falling in a deep space right now. Does it matter the arguments are good. NO. That is what distrust does. Logic gets lost and ears turn another direction.
But let's turn our rookie HC in to Jesus by not only giving him more money than any other established head coach in NFL history, but by also setting the tone that we have no say in the decision making process. No thanks. Sounds like Harbaugh may have turned in to another Spurrier or Saban.
I can recognize sarcasm bro, Im not as wound up as some.... What will be the master motivater Sparano's new slogan? Anyone want to take a guess? How about "Screw the pooch" or "Get the 3"
Let me get this straight, so I'm clear: You guys are mad at Ross for going after the three biggest available coaching names, because he didn't land them. Even though he he offered record contracts to each of them, and they turned him down for various random reasons. And you're doing this all based on the "facts" presented to you by various reporters, the very same reporters who got quite literally nothing correct about Harbaugh? With all of that, the few of us who aren't losing our minds are the idiots? Unbelievable.
Wait a minute. Where was the next Mike Martz going to come from if signed Harbaugh? Where was the next Cutler going to come from that isn't now that Harbaugh didn't sign?
Yeah as we proved in the last game we played........mostly against a legitimate playoff teams backups.
FinD stated it perfectly, dammed if you do, dammed if you don't, been that way for yrs in Miami. For all the complaining about "they took Pat White with a #2 pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" People also forget that the WC was hailed in 08, White fit into trying to evolve it, but rather than say he made sense, it is now an indictment..been like that for yrs as well, and people wonder why Coaches hesitate to come to Miami, or why Coaches who are here go Conservative on offense.
Brother Schmoo its a hopeless cause. Don't bother trying to make him see the light. He will see it eventually......I think......but we may go 0-16 and he still might believe we are 1 or 2 players from a SB win.
I'm not anti-Padre at all. I love the guy. But I don't see how having "patience" with this regime is going to do any good when it comes to beating the Jets/Pats.
Exactly. Today: We need to invest in QBs, Henne sucks!!!!! Last Year: Why the hell did we draft White when we already had Henne!!!!! Today: This offense needs some freaking SPEED!!!!!! Last Year: F*** Ginn, all he has is speed!!!!!! Today: We need an offensive minded non conservative coach, F*** Sparano!!!!! Last Year: Thank god we got rid of Cameron and brought in Sparano and his back to basics pounding the football style offense!!!!! Sigh.
This regime is 4-2 against the Jets and 2-4 against the Pats. So really we need to beat the Pats more.
They are also 2-2 against Buffallo the last two years. Also 0-1 against Detroit, 0-1 against Cleveland, 0-2 against Steelers, 0-3 against Baltimore. Yeah, we'll be beating NE a ton right around the corner.
Great tactic. Change your point. Very nice. Point is, if your going to complain, pay attention to what you're complaining about. We have no problem beating the Jets. That is all I'm saying. I'm not telling you to be happy about the state of team.
Knock it off. I'm not saying it means the world. I'm just pointing out when YOU say we can't beat the Jets, you're flat out wrong. The reason I'm pointing that out is to show you, that maybe, just effing maybe, you're letting your emotions cloud your judgment a bit.
Assumption #1 Ross was willing to make Harbaugh, the hottest coaching commodity on the market, the HIGHEST paid coach in the NFL.? Were you at the contract negotiations? Assumption #2 For all we know Ross told Sparano the exact course of action the team was going to take and that in all probably Sparano was going to be retained if we couldn't land the big fish. Assumption #3 the complete original post all assumptions on your part You might want to practice what you preach regarding assumptions that have no validity
It's one thing to split with the Jets in the regular season. It's another to actually win more games than them and thus make it into the playoffs. And my emotions, while admittedly high, are not clouding my judgment. This team has not won a playoff game in 10 years. I don't foresee winning one in the next 2 to 3 years under this regime. I'm sorry if that has become tiresome to me.
I'm not using assumptions that have no validity to justify my hatred, mistrust or newfound fear of the new ownership group. You and the sheeple going through this emotional roller-coaster with every breaking tweet are. Find one post where I judged Sparano, Ross or even Harbaugh for that matter. When I did question Harbaugh or Cowher I made counterpoints to seemingly established assumptions by many of you that we rejected Cowher in favor of Ireland or ***gasp*** didn't want to fire Nolan to bring in Harbaugh. People in the forum are jumping up like spoiled little children that didn't get candy. Get over it.
All of your facts you're basing this on are assumptions from countless reporters yesterday. We don't honestly know anything they reported to be accurate. Hell, they couldn't all even agree on what state Harbaugh was in yesterday.
Again, all that is fine and you're entitled to it. But this regime beats the Jets regularly, that's all.
Hue Jackson improved the Raiders and Cable tried his best to undermine him the entire time. The Raiders would still be horrible if it wasn't for Hue.
I rarely ever ***** and moan about Dolphins offseason moves but I think I have a right to express concern and frustration when moves like this are made. I will be okay in a couple of weeks but right now I am pretty much in awe from what I have seen the last couple of days.
