Local news guys out here are reporting that Luck has announced that he will return to Stanford next year. Somewhat Miami related as it pertains to the draft. I will try to get a link for this as well. One isn't present yet.
andrew luck staying in school Jeff_Darlington profile Jeff_Darlington Wow. Let the speculation about Harbaugh's future now continue! RT @schadjoe: Stanford announces Andrew Luck RETURNING to school! Lol. Maybe we hire Harbaugh, tank the season and get number one draft pick next year
Well, in my opinion I think it has a lot to do with not wanting to play for the Panthers. But if that's the case he should just pull an Eli.. He's risking a lot of money and injury that's for sure. But I've also read he doesn't care for those things
They may end up helping us if: 1) Harbaugh signs with us and 2) we do not play well our first year (ie draft order) with him under the helm.
I'll never understand why college players let themselves get snake charmed into this: Cons of this decision - Could lose millions regardless if he remains a #1 QB or not. Could be injured. Could have a bad season and fall out of the first round. Positives - Earns himself a degree he will never use.
WOW seriously this could cost him over 100 million dollars over his career. Imagine if he sucks next year hes done.. Strick now before rookie caps etc are in place foolishness! BAD LUCK!
I cant even call that a Positive, because if you blow your knee out in year 4 of your NFL career and your career is done...you can PAY your way through school after that. then earn that degree that you may need.
He will lose a lot of money that's guaranteed. Isn't Goodell trying to implement a rookie cap for they won't be making as much money as veteran NFL players?
Yeah he is, but he also is the son of the West Virginia Athletic Director, and having some coin in his pocket is not a great need. And how about Carolina ? You thought maybe the Dolphins might get dissed, but guy is not declaring so he doesn't have to go there to the Panthers. Boy thats bad.....really bad
Yes he might do that, and if so, would it be in time for this years draft ? That would mean he might lose really big money. But like I said, his father makes well over a $ 1 million a year so money is not as big a deal as it might be to some others.
Wow, surprised to see this if true. Could cost him an awful lot. No idea why he would choose to stay in school over heading to the NFL after the season he's had, and knowing that his coach may be leaving. He's the hottest QB prospect there is, definite #1 overall, millions upon millions at stake for him. Wow. I just dont quite understand this, unless he knows Harbaugh is intending to stay in Stanford and just using the NFL for more cash.
Okay so this sets in motion "Operation Dumbo Drop." 1. We promote Henning to Head Coach. 2. We give all our best players the season off and crucial rest time. 3. We sign Jamarcus Russell and run the Wildcat 24/7 4. Ross has mega-concerts after each game to keep ticket sales up, and each season-ticket sold comes with a 10 minute package for you and J-Lo in a closet where anything goes. For the women they can have J-Lo if they fancy, or Justin Bieber. 5. We pay Harbaugh a crap-ton of money to stay in Stanford one more season and take care of Luck. 6. We go 0-16 and lock up the 1st pick in the draft. 7. We sign Harbaugh and draft Luck. 8. We bring back all our stars, for 2012. 9. We go 20-0 in the greatest season in NFL history.
This is actually not a good thing, it makes drafting a QB that much harder now....Gabbert is now the number one guy...
About a $10-15 M loss for Luck - as he loses a year of pro play, essentially. But, if he thinks there will be a lockout next year - that might also make him want to return. However, I think that's risky and it's not a great decision. That said, I wouldn't want to play for Carolina. Likely scenario: Harbaugh told him that he would go 2-14 with whatever team he's with next year to guarantee the #1 pick and he'd draft Luck. In that case (in spite of the fact I don't see Harbaugh coming here) I favor Harbaugh coming to the Dolphins. They give him the best chance at 2-14.
