Oh dear, you are misinformed Pads. Harbaugh has more than proven himself, at least at the college level. He has more than 1 good yr to his resume. Just look at what he did at The University of San Diego & how he also rescued a moribund Stanford program that went 1-11 in 2007. His success at Stanford is beyond miraculous.

And there lays the poison that will lay the franchise dead for the next 5 years.

Especially when he's done it without Top 20 recruiting classes like Saban. It's easy to dominate the college ranks when you have the equivalent of 20 first round picks every year.

    Bitter?

He left to cover the Heat, who are much, much more open and media-friendly.

I'm a Dolphins fan first, but the Heat are extremely well run. They've been consistent, they've won a title recently and they're soaring right now. Plus the Heat dancers are just ridiculous. Ethan's always said the Heat's policies made their jobs easier and more enjoyable.

As far as personalities, Ethan's covering the biggest superstar in the sport (LeBron), a world-wide brand. Covering LeBron and Dwyane Wade as they run around South Beach and try and take over the world.

It was a rare opportunity and smart career move.

I hope the Dolphins can get back to that someday. Maybe with Parcells gone they'll relax a bit as far as media stuff goes.

Yes, Ethan's book deal just walked in the door in 2010. Bitter? I don't even watch basketball and I can see the dollars in Lebron James tracks.

Did you see his last 10 years with the Chiefs ? They were putrid. One of his last acts at KC was to give them Herm Edwards.

He sort of agreed with Ricky on the radio the other day. On Tuesday's Hartline is on WQAM between 11-12 pm. He even takes some phone calls and they replayed some sound bytes from Ricky's show on Monday night when Ricky just ripped Sparano another ***.

I said earlier. iam not sure Irleand has the sophistication or confidence to hang with Harbaugh. could be wrong though, dont know Irish to much.

Are we interpreting that correctly, 1st interview Irish= not interested....backup Peterson=interested.?

Yes, you are wrong. The first approach was Peterson reaching out to Harbaugh, and that's the approach he rebuffed. This approach is Ross, Ireland, and Peterson.

RB thats how I read it too. THat he was only going to meet with Ross out of professional coutesy. The man did fly 3,000 miles to see him and is trying to shovel boatloads of cash at him. But it does sound like Nick Saban all over again.

Any contract with him MUST include a buyout clause. If not then Ross is a fool.

Ross' stadium is privately owned. Let him pay for it himself. If not then if we pay for the refurbishment, let us in on soe of the stadium revenues. He hasn't ever (or Wayne or Robbie) ever paid his fair share of property taxes as he is only assessed for land worth $ 1 a year. So if he wants our tax dollars to pay for his stadium, then pay your taxes Mr. Ross !

Listen, the Dolphins are light years away from a playoff spot. Unless we get another Brady injury we are going to be 3rd place again and maybe a .500 record. That will not make the playoffs in the AFC.

If they get Gabbert & Harbaugh, I'd take San FRan & their QB Mentor & offensive philosophy over our Henne & Fist Pump for Field Goals Tony anyday. Hell even if its Alex Smith I think they beat the crap out of us......especially if we play here in Miami. :tantrum:

He'll never get it. Any commissioner or Mayor that votes to give Ross money signs his death warrent....literally.....Everyone is aware of the upcoming special election to recall the mayor & 3 commissioners because they raised property taxes 14% for this year (it was either raise taxes or cut services). The climate here for public spending for stadiums closed after the Marlins finally got their deal back in July of 2009.

I am actually shocked we would consider throwing that kind of cash at an unproven commodity in this league. I am really starting to believe Ross would turn this franchiseinto reality show if he thought it would make him more cash. He's already got Fist Pumping Sparano on board for Jersey Shore Season 3 Davie Delight.

Well now I dont know. I'd like Harbaugh here, but not as the highest paid coach in the league when he's accomplished pretty much nothing in this league. That troubles me a little bit.

Yup. LeBatard also got a book deal based on the 2010 team. And the TV show he'd been turning down for 10 years because he wouldn't move to NY or LA?

LeBron shows up, "Hey let's do a TV show in Miami!"

What you have to remember about Peterson, whether or not he will become a permanent fixture in the hierarchy here is that he carries a lot of weight as a football person that Ross happens to trust. I don't like the way it appears to be going down either, as Sparano almost certainly cannot return as the HC under this circumstance, and there are consequences of what does Ross do if he can't land Harbaugh or even Cowher, but having Peterson along isn't a bad thing for Ross...

It's absolute madness to go after a guy with zero NFL head coaching experience and pay him that kind of money. This once proud franchise has become a total joke. It feels like 2005 all over again.

The Roony Rule is crap. It's his team, his business and he should be able to hire whomever he wants.

Do people really believe that a guy who spends 1.1 BILLION on a business and then pays 100's of MILLIONS to his employee's, most of whom are minorities, is not going to hire someone because they are black? They are going to hire the best available to make their business money. White, black, green, blue or yellow.

And even if there were a person stupid enough to hire a head coach based on something as dumb as skin color they wouldn't last long because they would be missing out on some great talent.

To be fair Kp, it'll only be a joke if he doesn't succeed. If Harbaugh comes in and turns us around, then Ross looks like a genius for making such a bold move. This guy has a chance to have a huge NFL coaching career IMO. If we don't grab him now, then the team that does will never let him go.

This. I could care less how much money Ross spends on his coach. Sure, some here think it will be at the expense of paying players, but do you think 3-4 million extra per year is going to hurt Ross? He spends millions like we spend $20's.
