Don't be so sure about the new Qb Aqua, recall a 30 day TC due to the lockup, #7 could very well start the season for us..yah!
Christ. Just remember all you chucklesheads who hate Ross, when he signs Harbaugh.... Damnit. We JUST went through this with Saban.
While I don't approve of the way he's treating Sparano, Ross should be lauded for the willingness to go after his prime target. This means the man wants one thing. Lombardi. And not the damn play, either.
Well hopefully, if hired, he looks at Henne and says "aw hell no" and we get an actual Qb who..makes..plays..and stuff. If Ross at least manages that, he will always wear a clown nose, but at least it is more than the last HC's have managed. That is as positive spin as I can put on this..except we also get a new Special Teams coach.
Don't be so sure Harbaugh doesn't try to work with Henne. Harbaugh knows QB's, and if he sees that Henne can play, he will coach him up. Both were Michigan QB's too. Just sayin'.
Been thinking the exact same thing. Especially now with Ross getting on a plane to track Harbaugh down a-la Huizenga getting on his jet to go get Saban. Regardless of the crazy outcome, the Saban hire was a no brainer. He was a man among boys in the college coaching ranks. Harbaugh is regarded that way by some as well although I admit I don't know a lot about him. I like his aggressive approach to football though so right there this excites me. Hell Harbaugh is even a bit of a prick just like Saban was. The few interviews and some of his comments I've seen he looks to be a real arsehat. If he brings a championship here though we'll all overlook that. I applaud Ross for going after what he feels is a special coaching talent. Those don't come along all that often. If we get Harbaugh we'll live or die on the bet that he is just that.
I like Tony. I like Jim. However, for an unknown quantity is it worth that price tag? Look at all the players we've talked about as fans, in regards to money. Now use that approach with getting Jim Harbaugh for that price--unknown. It took one of, if not the greatest, HC in football multiple championships and a dynasty to lock up that kind of cash. And now we are going to give a guy who has done NOTHING the biggest deal. I'm sorry. I can't get on board with that level of thinking. Even if he takes us to the playoffs, he isn't worth that cash. He needs to be better than Belicheck in mind.
I didn't know Carroll got $6M. What a joke. Well, if that assclown got that much Harbaugh deserves $12M.
Jim Harbaugh for 8 million? I still can't get my head around it. He will have NO breathing room in my mind. He better win next year no matter the circumstances if he's getting paid that cash.
While I agree with your questioning of such a large payday I'd add that everyone in Pro sports are overpaid today. No one is worth the ridiculous amounts of money they are getting. Having said that, If you feel a top coach can make just as much an impact as a star player as I do then you have to look at it differently. Look at what some players are demanding in contracts yearly. Some play up to the money and a lot don't but they still demand the millions and get it. Looking at it that way, 7 Million a year for what someone feels is a special coaching prospect just dosen't seem that much.
That's true. How do you see a coach? Tom Cable did a reasonably good job. And his players are firmly behind him.
Highest paid OLB in Dansby. Highest Paid WR in Marshall. Highest Paid HC. My god, one of my teams is going to become just like the hated yankees.... ...And I LOVE IT. DA! CAPITALISM! STEPHEN ROSS MOON DOLLARS, ACQUIRE ME MORE FOOTBALL TALENTS!
Ask Daniel Snyder how spending works for improving a team in the NFL.. And here is the fundamental thing I do not like about Ross doing this: Football Decision vs Orange Carpet Orange Carpet won, for the money that is being offered we could: -Sign Mankins or -Soliai and McDaniel
To be fair, we kind of didn't know he was a liar until after he...lied. That's what good liars do...they get away with lying.
Lulz. It's the point, isnt' it? Nobody knew Saban lied until........ HA! No, Harbaugh will be different. We know...Why? Never mind. We just know that it is so.
How is going out and getting the hottest coaching candidate not a "football decision"? And what does money spent on a coach have to do with being able to sign players.......and since when has Ross been shy about spending money where it's presumed to be needed?
Hide yo coaches hide yo wife.. I hope the end result ends better this time if we do get him Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Rumor has it that Ross is travelling with a Benne Gesserit witch and will be conducting the meetings tomorrow with her by his side... BTW-I'm old, that is all
I don't know, but I think she's already put Henne's hand into the pain box (please no mom/vagina jokes).
Now You're just looking for things to worry about Padre! LOL. Snyder has gotten himself in trouble paying big money for questionable Free Agents and Free Agents that don't necessarily match his teams makeup. Were talking about acquiring a Head coach here. A good one of those is one of the cornerstones to having a successful franchise. Secondly your conclusion that money going to Harbaugh means we won't be able to bid on Free Agents is wild speculation as well. Simple reason being is that again, coaching staff management and recruitment is totally seperate from roster management. It's 2 distinct areas. It's not like Harbaugh getting 7 million a year counts against a cap preventing us from participating in Free Agency. Also, if Ross is willing to go out and open up his wallet and pay this high a salary to get the right coach I highly doubt that his plan is to skimp on the groceries for the coach if he gets him. I don't think signing Harbaugh affects any financial plans for roster improvement this offseason one bit.
Saban can't coach worth a sh!t? Ok, like him or hate him he was and is one of the most respected coaches in the game. An arsehat yes but a bad coach? Just a sour grape comment.
Notice you said "hottest' not 'best' Recall the hand wringing over cutting Douglas and Grant? Recall the roster being churned and the #12 overall being traded to help pay for Dansby and Marshall? Ireland runs a tight ship JS.
Snyder took his jet to hire Spurrier as well. If Paul Soliai had been signed already then this would make much more football sense.
