You don't put a guy's life in a holding pattern while you whine and dine his replacement. Stephen Ross has no honor. Can Tony if that's what you want to do. Don't keep him on the payroll as a fallback if you can't land your fish. It's a shady way to treat a stand up guy, and frankly, this organization should hold itself to a higher standard.
i sort of agree with you BUT this happens alot. Plus do you really know what Ross/Sparano have talked about?? As far as we know Tonys already fired just under the radar
You save this treatment for someone who wronged you. Make em sweat. Tony treated this logo with NOTHING BUT RESPECT and deserves better. This is the kind of crap I expect from the Jets.
He's the boss. He's a millionare. He can do whatever the hell he wants. Who are you to tell him how to run his business?
Who am I? I'm a paying customer, that's who. And yeah, there's a way to do this. The right way and the wrong way. If you know you don't want him back, you fire him Monday and let him go get his house in order. This is a shady practice. But the reality here is that ITS OUR TEAM DOING IT, and ALL OF YOU HAVE A GIANT STIFFIE for whatever big name coach strikes your fancy, so you all act like it's no big deal. But if this was in the 'AFC EAST RIVALS' or 'OTHER NFL' subforums, we'd be ripping the hell out of whatever team was stringing a guy along. But it's the Dolphins, so we're supposed to be cool with it. Sorry, I'm not down with hypocrisy.
Business is business...coaches do the same thing to players all the time. I don't mind how Ross is handling this at all.
I trust men in life that have done well. Ross has done well. He has a track record of doing well. Guys who claim the name of "Vinny" on a messageboard? I take that more lightly. Sorry, it's just me. If you like other boards better, then, get off to them. There's a reason they are "guys on a messageboard" rather than "Owner of THe Miami Dolphins".
WTF? Where did I slander the board? I'm making a point if it was another team doing it, instead of our team, we'd be trashing them. That's the point. It's pretty clear. And Vinny is derivative of Vincent or 'savior' in it's true meaning. Look it up. Your bank account has nothing to do with your character, "Garry", or however you prefer to be referred to on a messageboard. Oj Simpson did well in life before he killed two people. Bank Account... Success... means nothing in terms of moral fiber. Only a fool thinks otherwise.
Yawn..... Ross is going about this the smart way for the Phins organization. The football season isn't even over yet. If Sparano ends up getting let go he'll have plenty of time to pick up a job elsewhere.
Two years in a row Miami was 7-6 and in playoff contention. Two years in a row Miami lost the last 3 games to go 7-9 and miss playoffs. Both years 2 of those games were at home. I don't think Sparano has earned the right to be treated any different than any player who collapsed at the end of the season two years in a row.
So you are the savior of .... Who? The Miami Dolphins? Refer to me as you please. Your bank account does not have anything to do with character, but it does have a track record, proven with how you do conducting business while the children post on messageboards. OJ made his money as a service provider. Ross has made his money manageing service providers. Do you understand better now? BTW.....OJ's never been convicted.
Did you just call yourself a child? At least you are self deprecating. It's not so much if doing this is within Stephen's rights as a owner. It most assuredly is, however, it is not the proper way to business in my opinion. In the tiny agency I work for, The City of New York, if one is being relieved or resigning a position, that process takes it's course. The person isn't sitting in another room doing their job while we size up his/her replacement. I've been the interviewer and the interviewee. I've been the subordinate and the supervisor. The way Ross is doing this in my opinion, that's not good faith, does nothing for morale, and makes us look second rate. This should be the MODEL in the NFL, not another organization with character issues. It is on the employer to treat their employees with dignity, even in the process of removing them. Whether or not you ascribe to it, I believe in karma, and most assuredly, we are not earning ourselves any brownie points in that score at the moment.
So, my field of work somehow limits the value of my opinion in comparison to his or to yours? I'm not sure I see why you would come to that conclusion.
It's not the same process. Public sector/Private sector. You have to be much more transparant in the public sector. I really don't mean this to be a mean spirited exchange. I just see now how you don't see this like I do. You're used to a process. I'm used to a very differnet, and, IMO, more applicable process.
Fair enough. I just place a very high value on the way people are treated. I'm of the belief if the organization isn't respectful of it's employees, the organization will not have the respect of anyone, inside or out. I did see how things were done in the private sector, and behavior I found to be unsettling was practically encouraged. It's why i got out, frankly.
You have nothing to get upset about. For all you know Ross could have been straight up with Sparono the entire time. If he has and Sparono doesn't quit, then he agrees to it. No harm no foul.
If you lose to the Browns, Bills and Lions at home you should be glad they still let you in the building.
Hey, I respect that opinion too. It's ruthless out here. I'm used to a different process....And I think it's the more applicable process. It's brutal. But the bottom line is the men with the power run stuff. Ross is one of the men with the power and he didn't just stumble into it.
Has anyone here talked to Sparano personally??? Do we know for a fact that he hasn't talked to Ross, and maybe, just maybe Sparano wants to stay on and coach of other things don't pan out? I mean, it's like the Salem Witch Trials here, we don't even have the facts and people want to burn Ross at the stake for what he is doing. Its pretty sad tbh.
So, before the Dolphins EVER sign another free agent player, they must first cut the starter at the same position? That's what you are saying must happen. Until you come to grips with the inconsistency of this complaint and insist that this is how they do business, then your argument is vacuous. Aside from that, is Sparano going to get a HC job somewhere else? No. This is the best possible job he could have. It's also no different than having no coach and interviewing 3-4 candidates; and when it may be obvious you have a #1 choice. If that choice turns the team down are you going to be mad that you were the 2nd or 3rd choice when they hire you? No. Sparano should be thankful that he at least still has a shot at the job as HC. That's better than being unemployed and looking for an assistant coach position. He'll have time to do that if the hire Harbaugh.
at least fans will be happy that we got a big name. Hopefully this will end up into wins instead of Saban Part II the return of the Debbie Snack Cake
I agree wholeheartedly. I just had to let five guys go at work today. I had to fight with my boss about letting them finish up the week. Now I know it's a big difference between 5 guys processing donations for minimum wage at the Goodwill and the money floating around here but the right thing to do and the professional way to treat ANY employee still apply. All 5 were temporary seasonal hire for just two weeks, but I promised them two weeks work, to let them go in the middle of the second week like my boss wanted me to do would have been chickenkaka in my book. Remember the golden rule, it's really good advice, even in bizness
I respect your interpretation of these happenings Vinny, its a moral issue with you...I'am trying to find a scenario where it makes sense as to why it might be ok. I look at it like this...what happened to our team the past 2 years has been worthy of consequences...you cant go 1 and 9 at home in your last 10 and expect an extension right after the season..your gonna gave to take the hit and sweat it out a little...how else can Ross play it?..You want him to extend Sparano without speaking with a harbaugh type?... not sure how he can play that to your statisfaction...This is some serious business sh$# man..
One can learn a thing or two about business with this scenario. This is business Gentlemen and business is ugly. Nothing more, nothing less. When you let emotions play into business decisions, you border irrationality. Side note: This is what I want out of an owner. People hate(d) Steinbrenner, but that is the owner you want. Willing to go all out for the best (or what may be perceived as the best) for the sake of winning. I ask those criticizing Ross to ponder who they prefer: Huizenga or him?
If Sparano gets lets go...he doesnt HAVE to get a job elsewhere, hes a millionaire. He gets paid millions. Sit ubu, sit. For his salary Ross can dangle me wherever the f he wants..lol
