So much promise for that guy coming out of WV and...adios

Hurts our pursuit of Harbaugh, I consider this unfortunately newsworthy

It won't affect us unless we hire Rich Rod. Harbaugh is gonna stay on the west coast. He's gonna take the 49ers job.

I think unaffected. We're not going to hire RR, nor is any other pro team.

I think it messes up some that wanted Harbaugh....But I don't see Harbaugh
leaving Stanford. Why would he leave? I would NEVER leave Stanford. His expectations
of winning are never high, but, his recruits overachieve, are smart, and respond to him.

Not to mention, some of you have probably never been to the Bay area. It's a great
place to live and work if you can afford it. He can, and, it is.

The Panthers already have requested permission to interview San Diego defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. Although the team officials said they won't rule out candidates from the college ranks, they said the hire likely will be an NFL coordinator.

This seems like good news to me. :)

Weather wise..see Miami. Take into account ambition and the desire to coach an NFL team. That is likely a part of what he is weighing in his mind. Could go either way.

Have you been to the BA? The weather is not like Miami at all. I've been to both places, and it's dissimilar in just about every way.
I had to wear a sweater every morning when I got up (Around 5 AM) and old folks were falling out when the
temperature hit 83 degrees. In August. The BA is almost like paradise, and, when you have the means to live
well there, it's a beutiful thing. He's a fool to leave if he does, which I am not certain of.

Are we seriously thinking WEATHER is going to change his mind? Cmon now. That is most likely the last thing on his mind.

I think he meant Miami has the better weather. However, I've lived in both places and really loved the Bay Area weather...

You'd be surprised how much weather affects the choices of where people live.

Clearly there are lots of factors. I settled in TX largely for the weather. Other things colored my choice....Gun laws...
No tax based on how much you make solely....Though I don't make that much. I like the idea of it, and, I still hope to one
    day!

Weather can affect people's choices...but Harbaugh is about to cash in to the point where weather is irrelevant. I live in the Bay Area (about 15 minutes from Stanford) and love it here. But if an owner of a football team in Siberia offered me millions of dollars to coach...I would be gone in a heartbeat.

Besides...Harbaugh went to college in Ann Arbor, coached in San Diego and now Stanford. The guy has seen all kinds of weather. Weather isn't a deciding factor.

Based on his press conference last night, he is clearly leaving Stanford and most likely for the pro game. He avoided the question 20 times over which pretty much tells you where his head is at.

I can also tell you that the local Bay Area sports shows are CLAMORING for the Niners to hire him. They will throw more money at him then anyone else.

He'll be hired at Michigan by the end of the month if not the end of the week.

Also with the labor talks in the NFL and the possibiltiy of a lockout, i don't see a rookie HC coming into the NFL unable to even meet and work with his players until later in the season if at all. i seriously doubt he wants to put himself in that position. And according to ESPN and local Ann Habor chat he's comming to UofM.

Our fine South Florida school systems will DEFINITELY be the deciding factor...in him choosing the Niners.

To me, taking the SF job is a no brainer. I can't stand lots of things about CA, but, if you can make a mil or three, you
are an idiot to leave the place.

Then again anyone with that kind of loot, will have his kids in a very exclusive private school, which are in any location. So schools wouldn't be a factor.

Plus, added bonus for Harbaugh...he doesn't have to buy new shirts since they are the same colors. He can just put a sticker SF logo over the Stanford one.

It makes zero sense for Harbaugh to go there other than the fact that he went to school there. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Les Miles ends up there though.

Besides being an alum, what sense does it make for Harbuagh to leave the program he built up, that he has invested in and has commitments from dozens upon dozens of players, to go to a team that has less petience for his timeframe to rebuild teams, has the exact opposite offensive personnel to run his offense (RichRod has a bunch of spread offense players that would NOT translate to Harbaugh's offense) and probably doesn't offer much more (if any) in terms of monetary compensation?

Jim's endgame is the pros. He won't take a lateral move just to coach at his alma mater unless they put together some insanely rich deal. I doubt very seriously that that is going to happen.

Now I just feel dirty. Thanks for that.

But I do agree with you. It makes absolute ZERO sense for HArbaugh to leave Standofrd for Michigan.
As you say, it's a lateral move. MI folks like to think there's a status to the program that hasn't existed since
1987 or so. It's not that team. It's not that program. Your lifespan in MI is measured in terms of about 3 years.
Harbough is a superstar where he is, and, he'll get a much longer leash in CA.

I will be astounded if Harbaugh takes the MI job.

Actually there are two other coaches i'd rather have in Ann Harbor than Harbaugh. It's not like i'm i'm peeing my pants over the prospect. I'm going on information that is leaking out from the area and people that work and are alum of the school, not wishful thinking but what is being said. which is better than random speculation. Sorry not trying to argue just saying. That he is their main target and are going to give him pretty much what he wants. And he has shown interest. he very well may sign with Stanford again, but i doubt the pros is where he ends up.

There are three NFL teams who could give him more than Michigan, so that doesn't make sense. And several reports have been "leaked" saying he has no interest in Michigan.

Stanford just won the Orange Bowl with an entire football nation watching, including recruits. Harbaugh had every opportunity to put on a free recruiting pitch with each answer to every question asked of him. He took the opportunity to avoid, dodge and literally run away. He is not going back to Stanford. He is also not going to Michigan.

His end game is a pro gig. He will be gainfully employed by a pro team sooner rather than later. My assumption is that it is San Francisco. But Miami seems to be heavily involved as well, if you believe the scuttlebut.

yahoo has a news headline saying miami mould persue harbaugh so i guess that means sporano isnt coming back?

i would persue a proven coach like cowher or gruden becuz i think we cant afford anything but a safe choice...all the hype with harbaugh but not allot of college coaches struggle at the next level

Image how much more in the hole we would be if THAT chance doesnt pay off...........allot of people jumping off bridges and ledges
