La Canfora: Dolphins exploring Harbaugh, Sparano not assured return [plus updates]

I think both Sparano and Harbaugh are great coaches. Different philosophies sure, but I think both are great. However, the REAL question is...which one is better for the Dolphins? It's hard to say at this point.

Ya know, just thought of something else. Pure speculation and... dare I say conspiracy, and ridiculous thinking, so stop here if you want to. What if Ross is really satisfied with Sparano and whatever changes he and Ireland proposed yesterday, and is just out there chasing around Harbaugh so Michigan ups their offer to Harbaugh to get him to leave Stanford. I guess its possible? Then agian, with Ross owning the phins, I can't see why he would want to do this, unless of course, like I said, he's actually deep down inside, content with Sparano. Maybe that's just the Michigan fan in me coming out, I want him either at Michigan or in Miami.

 

Not trying to poop on your parade but I'm not going to believe anything until its official and I see Harbaugh on NFL Network wearing a Dolphins hat/sweater, whatever, Lol.

Sparano should audition for Jersey Shore tho if fired, his fist pumping skills > all the people on the show.

that's exactly what is going on here. Yes I feel like a jaded and jilted lover as a DolFan. I am in a pissy mood & I have had sex only once in the last 8 years, and that sex was a rape by Baltimore (if you follow my analogy).

It would be ironic if we got Harbaugh, considering his "Captain comeback" moniker was coined after he lead the Colts to a come from behind victory at JRS where I believe the 'Fins were up by 22 at halftime

I think Harbaugh goes to the team that has the best chance to get Andrew Luck. The way Harbaugh was looking at this kid yesterday like a boy with a brand new toy. I think that would highly influence his choice and thats not Miami unfortunately. If we were to get Luck i'd sh*t my pants though what a day that would be this kid looked SOLID last night.

 

That would be Carolina, interesting enough I haven't heard one rumor they are trying to lure Harbaugh.

Same here. I'm pissed that Sparano is still employed, that NFL Network sh-ts on the Dolphins ect.

 

Don't know if this is an update, but:
It just said on NFLN that Sparano was given no timetable on the decision and that they are actually in discussions about the head coaching position with Harbaugh..

Wow the awfulness of this franchise and my Orioles is just becoming too eerily similar.

We want to keep you around as HC in case we are unable to find someone better. What a confidence builder and a major selling point for free agents.

this is starting to turn into a benny hill show. Ross has to decide by tomorrow what he's doing. Cant keep dragging this out

 

This is such a well-run franchise.

 

I really hate all this speculation. I'm 99% sure that Ross knows who his coach for next season will be at this point.

As I've said, I think Ross wants to keep the Dolphins in the media in a positive light one way or another.

 

Sparano didn't believe in Henne either, but had no viable better option so we kept seeing Henne out there.

This is simply the same situation for Ross at head coach.

Whether Ross just wants the Dolphins brand in the media or not, this is a terrible way to bring sparano back.

All the players know he is on a short leash. There simply won't be any way for him to maintain control.

If none of this comes to fruition put me down for a bet that sparano is first coach fired next season, mid-season

 

which is why I think we should be talking to Carolina to find out their price and whatever it is, guarantee to pay it. If they want Wake, Odrick, Bess and our first I give it to them. I guarantee Harbaugh we are going all out to get Luck and you bring both of them in. Ireland can restock guys like Bess and Wake the same way he found them: flipping rocks. Odrick we won't miss anyways. If we don;t want to send players, then send a ton of picks and one player. Whatever it takes, man.

That's how you land Harbaugh AND Luck.

A QB-less organization is dead in the water. I'd rather lose a few goo dplayers, knowing Ireland can find more. What Ireland CAN'T do is find a stud QB in a lower round or the CFL.

The team announced Tuesday that Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey will interview for the head coaching position on Friday. NFL rules allow coaches to interview for a position during the initial bye week to start the playoffs.

Good!@ Because another season with Sprano and Henne and we may actually have a chance to draft Luck next year! lol.

 

More or less, at this point if those names do not come to pass then we maybe would be better off simply hiring Nolan to be the HC but bring in a OC and ST coordinators who are proven at what they are doing.

 

They can't keep Sparano now. I think he's definitely gone, it's just a matter of time. I honestly believe the holdup is Jeff Ireland. Ross wants to keep Ireland, but Cowher wasn't sold. My guess is if we fail to land Harbaugh Ross comes back to Cowher and Ireland is gone.

 

You might be right.

Sparano simply cannot return at this point. You can't have your owner publically lusting over other candidates while you are still employed and hope to maintain any kind of respect or control of the lockeroom.

I wouldn't be thrilled with Nolan, but we might have no choice. I also find it interesting that what I called a few weeks ago has come to pass. Ireland's face time with Ross has saved his bacon as the presence of Ireland appears to be non-negotiable. He may not be able to find a QB, but he sure can schmooze an owner.
