Yeah, but there are entirely too many quality Jewish football players whom we'd never be able to sign in FA.
Dude, the Patriots have changed their offense around on so many occasions it's ridiculous. You act as if they've run the same damn thing year in and year out.
I always feared that Brandon Marshall was TOO MUCH of a ALPHA.... I say...TOUGHEN UP and GROW UP...we need MORE of those guys...it is entirely possible that Marshall helped ruin Captain Checkdown.
but you said playmakers. ricky isnt a playmaker anymore. our only playmaker is marshall. even ronnie wasnt a playmaker this year
Wow, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he is sincerly bashing everyone. "Sometimes he makes it difficult to like him and support him." That's Ricky on Brandon Marshall.
And I think you are underestimating how much better he would play in NE after being developed there for 3 years.
I have a half shrine..... doesnt count. If you'd like a half cookie, I can take a bite outta one and mail it to ya.
Well damn, you got me. Belichick didn't turn one undrafted free agent quarterback into a Hall of Famer. I guess my whole point is shot. Seriously, I'm going to bed. This argument is lame. You do realize how much you are grasping at straws right now?
What Ricky means by this is: "Only an elite veteran like Brady could've come in here and had an inkling of a chance to succeed with this clusterf*** of an offense and staff."
Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing. A guy puts himself on the line to tell the truth - something that could not possibly benefit him in any way - among all the platitudes and cliches we've heard parroted from all the other guys - and he just MUST be lying. He said Sparano's philosophies suck. He said Sparano micromanages everything - the classic mark of a poor Manager. He said Sparano had the team "ill-prepared" for the Pats game. He said Sparano "lost the locker room at the end of the season, despite repeated votes of confidence from the players." He said "Usually when players are talking and saying the right things, it means that they're full of ****." He said all that WITHOUT QUALIFICATION, NOT SUBJECT TO INTERPRETATION. And he said that the difference between NE and Miami was that "they HAVE a QB..." not that they have a BETTER QB - that they HAVE A QB. Spin it any way you like, but HE SAID WHAT HE SAID. And knowing Ricky, he meant every word.
listen. i have stated from day one, well actually about week five, that the biggest problem we had was the offensive line's inability to run block. i have stated that i think henne is the second biggest problem we had, not the first. if either of them were better we would be in the playoffs. and thats because a good qb can coverup for a poor running game and a good running game can coverup for a poor qb.
KEVIN O CONNELL, KLIFF KINGSBURY LOL. YOU're the side that's trying to say ricky trashed Sparano when all he did is say Tony needs to chill out on reminding them about third down conversions, red zone scoring and turnovers. you guys are so hard up for finding quotes to bash sparano that you'll twist comments into pretzels to make your points
Of course Ricky doesn't want to play for this clueless headcoach and OC. Neither does Marshall. And neither does everyone else on offense who hasn't given their "opinion" yet. Henning and Sparano are ****ing clueless.
Why settle for 650 when we can have 800 and a guy who scores more while being a threat out of the backfield?
I'm not talking about the offensive line. And I'm not really interested in who you place the most blame in. I'm simply pointing out why I think you are incorrect to so heavily discount the role that coaching plays on players. It is by no means a given that Tom Brady, had he been drafted by any other team in the league, would have turned out the way that he did. There's a reason why we run Matt Roth out of town only for him to play well with his new team. There's a reason Rob Ninkovich goes to the Pats and plays well. There's a reason why pretty much every free agent acquisition this regime has made, outside of the two can't miss, marquee guys this offseason, have not panned out. Honestly, can anyone name me one player that this regime has coached up? Jake Long was the first pick in the draft. Bess is really the only guy I can come up with outside of the defense where the light only came on upon Nolan's arrival. Am I missing something?
Are you really paraphrasing what Ricky said as "chill out" in the very same post you're accusing us of twisting comments into pretzels to make our points?
did you listen to the interview. give me specific things ricky said sparano should do other than "chilling out" about the nitpicking
I say it makes more sense to just keep Sparano and dump Ricky, Marshall, and EVERYONE else who don't like playing for Sparano. It's easier to clean house than it is to change the coach. That should get the team back on the same page............ for 10-12 games. sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm
Serious question? Kendall Langford Randy Starks Paul Soliai Tony McDaniel Cameron Wake Koa Misi Vontae Davis Sean Smith Nolan Carroll Chris Clemons Reshad Jones Davone Bess Jake Long Anthony Fasano Brian Hartline Those are all guys who this regime has turned into solid players, and then some, in the NFL.
Cameron Wake = undiscovered gem from CFL (i.e. an Ireland find) Richie Incognito = trouble-maker cast off (never really a question of talent) Randy Starks = was always a good player from Maryland to the Titans (just miscast in the 4-3) Lou Polite = wildly inconsistent and not nearly the player that some of you think he is None of those are good contrary examples to the guys we are talking about. Again, grasping at straws. Is it really that hard for you to consider that maybe, just maybe, Bill Belichick understands how to run a football team, motivate his players, and game-plan to their strengths better than other coaches in the league?
Parcells brought this buddy system crap to the Dolphins, Ross can now take it away. Bring back Ricky, fix the coaching staff and hope they focus on finding a QB finally, not settling for one in a later round.
If Sparano crashes and burns in 2011, that is the core of the team for the next HC, BTW I really like Marlon Moore as well dude is explosive
Why is it a joke? You asked who this regime has coached up, and I answered with a long list of our solid, core players that the regime drafted, acquired, and coached up. What is the joke here?
noone denies belichik is a great coach but that doesnt imply that we dont know what we're doing either. you throw up ninkovich as if thats some masterpiece of coaching and yet when we provide counters of our own successes they somehow arent the same. cameron wake was training camp castoff that other coaches werent able to coach up but we were. he blows ninkovich out of the water. how are they not comparable. hell he was a one dimensional pass rusher last year now he can set the edge on run plays. did he just magically do that himself. did belichik secretly coach him to set the edge when sparano wasnt looking
I think Moore has potential but I left off the guys who have yet to show too much. Probably should have left off Carroll and Jones too.
First of all, not everyone on that list is "a solid player" "in the NFL." I'm a huge Reshad Jones fan, but to suggest that he is a solid player in the NFL is factually incorrect. Same goes for Nolan Carroll. Same goes for Chris Clemons. Same goes for Brian Hartline. Same goes for Anthony Fasano (though I guess some might argue that, but in my book he is nothing more than an average TE in the league). So right there you listed off a bunch of people that really had no business even being considered. Then let's take a look at the rest: Kendall Langford - Great pick by Ireland who surprised as a rook, then had a sophomore slump, then had a good year under Mike Nolan Randy Starks - Good player at Maryland. Good player at Tennessee. Ireland understood he was misused in 4-3 and brought him here to good results. Paul Soliai - Wildly inconsistent and then all of a sudden puts together an amazing year under Mike Nolan Tony McDaniel - Great find by Ireland and perhaps a guy you could say has been coached up, perhaps Cameron Wake - Great find by Ireland who should have played more last year and this year made Pro Bowl under Mike Nolan Koa Misi - Appears to be a great find by Ireland with only one year under his belt under Mike Nolan Vontae Davis - Great find by Ireland who had a sophomore slump Sean Smith - Wildly inconsistent but playing much better this year under Mike Nolan Davone Bess - Great find by Ireland and arguably one of the few examples of a guy being coached up by someone other than Nolan Jake Long - First round draft pick that shouldn't need coaching up I just don't see how that list in any way negates the points that I and some others are making. Aside from Bess, a diamond in the rough that Jeff Ireland found who just seems to have the right attitude, I'm having a hard time thinking of any guy that I can confidently say has been coached up by this staff outside of Mike Nolan. On the other hand, when you look at the Patriots, they're taking other teams' scrubs and castoffs and making them into productive, mistake-free playmakers, and they've been doing it for years. The difference could not be any more night and day. I honestly cannot even believe there is a debate about this.
