Yeah, you're right. Tom Brady creates the culture of winning and not Bill Belichick. That's why, when he went down with an injury and they had to turn to Matt Cassel, they sucked.

sounds to me like what he's really saying is if we had tom brady we would have a winning record and the nitpicking would be tolerable because we would be buying into the culture of winning but instead we had Henne and eventually it gets tiresome hearing about turnovers, third down conversions and red zone scoring when we cant overcome the lack of talent

So you basically agree with 95% of the Henne camp, which was my point. I'm tired of the Henne-haters painting all of us with these stupid straw men arguments. I think all of us have, for weeks now, been quite fine with the idea of bringing in competition. We just still believe that Henne has the potential to fight for and keep his starting position under better circumstances. But apparently we're crazy for this assertion.

I find it interesting, from a purely observational standpoint, that the Chambers apologists largely became the Ted Ginn apologists - and now, almost to a man, those are the Tony Sparano apologists.

    Anyway...

I'm glad someone finally had the cojones to cross the "the thin aqua line" and break the bull**** barrier.

THE TRUTH IS EXPOSED NOW, BOYS. NO MORE HIDING BEHIND PLATITUDES AND HALF-TRUTHS.

    I think you are right.

It was clearly Brady leading the way on the 103 yard KO return for a TD against Miami this year. He also led the way for the 94 yard punt return for a TD. Must have been Brady that also blocked the FG and returned it for a TD against Miami too. The 51 yard interception return for a TD against Miami, all Brady. The two rushing TDs against Miami this year...Brady must have been the lead blocker. Hoyer's 42 yard TD pass to Tate wouldn't have happened without Brady on the sidelines.

Absolutely, Patriots are NOTHING without Brady! Damn, how did they ever win 11 games two years ago when he went down in week 1 with a knee injury...oh yeah, Brady was cheering on the sidelines.

To a degree Padre you are right but to say it dosen't work that way isn't entirely true at all.
The good coaches have a way to get in your head and press the buttons necessary to get players out of funks or ruts and focused back on that fire you talk about. Motivation is a very effective tool and can absolutely make a difference if used correctly. t

I'm sure he does, having coaches write up scouting reports on the 53 men on the active roster is not exactly "let it be" type behavior.

However, RW is right in the sense that what Sparano is here to do, is not getting done, Sparano has not made the transition from leader of scrappy bunch of nobodies to leader of a team full of young veteran football players who are not afraid of being waived or losing their jobs.

Jason Allen was waived and Jon Bonamego fired, but it had no real long term effect..that is a sign Bro.

i agree that Henne should be given a chance to compete for the starting job. I havent written him off. I think he imploded this year and arent sure of what his mental makeup is but he has every chance to bounce back. The book isnt closed on Henne yet. Thats up to Henne though

Seriously, you're coming off as a hippie or something. What is this "culture of winning" aura that surrounds Tom Brady? Is it purple?

It's pretty simple. Tom Brady was an under-developed QB who went low in the draft. He was given time to develop on the bench. He was also given the best coach over the last decade who somehow managed to keep putting out top-rated offenses and defenses even though he would turnover supposed "star" players and coordinators almost every offseason. Over that time, he's run all kinds of different offenses too, yet they always seemed to work just fine. During this time, he also took rejects from other teams and turned them into Pro Bowlers.

That's called "coaching." It has absolutely nothing to do with Tom Brady's aura. Bill Belichick could take Chad Henne next week and probably still make the playoffs next season.

i think they just need to win. after all what is a winning culture other than winning. when you're winning you can have Hitler as your coach and still enjoy the game. When you're losing you could have vince lombardi and you would be questioning something about him. its human nature

More or less, it not some speech, it is not attention to detail, it should be motivated player meets proper coaching and performs beyond any reasonable expectations..

To be blunt, I do not think the current Dolphins roster is packed with motivated players, I put that on them, people who believe Sparano should be canned put it on Sparano.

Add in misevaluations and we see where 7-9 came from, well that I do not believe Chad Henne has the fire in his belly that he needs he is far to crude of a Qb in yr #3 to believe that he does have it..watch Drew Brees fire up the Saints huddle..watch Brady work the sidelines, or Pennington..

So wait, we had one guy POSSIBLY question Sparano and the coaching staff, and have had multiple guys who have went out of their way to back Sparano yet somehow Ricky's words are the ones that hold the most weight?

Also, I don't believe Ricky is bashing ANYBODY. Him and Henne are really good friends. Both were invited to eachother's wedding. I think Ricky is saying the Pats have Tom Brady, and we don't. Not that Chad Henne is awful.

    Of course!! We're completely bonkers!!

A 2nd year starting QB should be perfectly capable of succeeding at a high level when he has a TE & 2 WRs who wouldn't start for many colleges. :glare:

It doesn't matter that a ground game gains nothing on 1st down, can't pick up chunk yards, is 2nd to last in yards per attempt, and 3rd to last in TDs. :glare:

It means nothing that our offense lacks speed & playmakers, keeping us inside a 20 yard box all game long which requires us to constantly move the chains 10 yards at a time. :glare:

The belief that game's are won in the trenches is a fallacy b/c quality run blocking & pass blocking are way overrated. Good QB's don't need things like "blocking" which is why we're trading Long for a punt returner this offseason. :glare:

Coaches who play for FGs clearly don't impact an offense's performance, QB included...... and coaches who are constantly changing their identity, game-plan, and what they want from their QB does absolutely NOTHING to affect a QB's performance. :glare: (Sparano: "Ok Henne, this game we want you to be ultra conservative and do nothing to turn the ball over".... "the next game we're gonna put the team on your shoulders and you'll need to air it out"...... "sorry, today we're back to ultra conservatism, and when you get into a rhythm, be prepared to be taken out, and you can forget about your opportunities to convert your long drives once we get into the redzone"...... "Ok, now let's forget this "protecting the football stuff"; we want you to take more risks b/c our previous s#!tty philosophy has my job in jeopardy.") <Make up your f****** mind already, Sparano!>

with Ronnie Bown, how embarassing will that be ? Sparano left with his mouth gaping open as Ronnie & Ricky rush for 175 combined yards in a 28-6 (gotta have those two FG's for Tony) romp by the Patriots. Tony Sparano's press conference afterwards will start out with a "no question about it" answer by Fist Pump Tony.

I will state that I feel 100% confident that the Pats would have used Henne differently and got SOMETHING out of him.
They might move on from him afterwards but they would have maximized whatever talent he has.
Our staff clearly did not do that.

Just look at what they've done with players in N.E. Deion Branch is a good example. He scared no one in Seattle and was pretty much given up on and he comes back to N.E. midseason and becomes a huge weapon running wide open through secondaries at times. Ricky mentioned Ninkovich to clearly point out the difference of N.E.'s coaching and systems ability to get the most out of a players talent when he pointed out how we cut this guy yet here he is making plays in N.E. That's not mentioning Henne, that's talking about coaching styles and player utilization.

That's only if you believe coaching and scheming makes a difference in ball games though so this clearly does not apply as valid points to you.

    Say it ain't so Sammy!

Dude, you're the last person I would have expected to have that opinion of Ricky. To seek God or purpose in life is everyone's ultimate goal whether they know it or not. We're all just pieces of God's consciousness cast into delusion, mistakes made in the past are just that, the past. To continue to use the "Quitter" label when it comes to Ricky I think is ill informed. Did you know that the Buddha left his wife and child before attaining enlightenment? Would you call him a quitter?

Who among us could change for the better without becoming hypocritical on some level? And when did he ever sell his teammates out for his own personal gain? A bajillion kids? He loves those children, and spends time with them as much as he can. Even when he was broke working for peanuts, which was solely for his family's sake, you would still read about him visiting his other children. The sexual impulse is the most powerful impulse in the Universe. God always sends temptation to seekers before they embark on a spiritual journey. In fact, most Saints would tell you that the only reason they were able to attain sainthood is because they were never tempted.

You're one of my favorite posters on this forum and will continue to be, but I just think you may be a little off base in casting such a harsh opinion on Ricky...

No one on the offense trusts Chad Henne for all of the hooplah about RW's stuff, Brandon Marshall of whom RW said "he has the balls to say it" slammed Henne, if BM is thinking it, how many other offensive players are thinking the same thing?

That is why Henne really shouldn't be back Bro..think of it as a white elephant situation.

why are you so sure that henne isnt their matt gutierrez? they didnt get anything out of gutierrez. why are you so sure they could get something out of henne. that short ball control WR screen passing game of theirs requires quick reads and quick decisions and hitting receivers in stride something henne has struggled with. would they have completely revamped the offense for henne and gone more tradional erhardt perkins?
