NFL source tells me Miami owner Stephen Ross and coach Tony Sparano are meeting now in South Fla. Source thinks it's 60-40 Sparano survives. http://twitter.com/#!/DonBanks/status/22010132154028032
I wonder if that source is Bill Parcells? If we keep Tony as a lame duck then we are headed for an absolute disaster next season. I don't know if ross understands the ramifications of this decision.
sounds about right. if cowher wants too much power and gruden is being courted by holmgren and harbaugh basically told us to **** off there arent really any more "name" coaching candidates and so you wont sell any more tickets with anyone else
Well Ross is going to make a HUGE mistake if he keeps Sparano. Season ticket sales will be horrible, and we'll have another losing season. We could miss out on Cowher, Gruden & Harbaugh.
Would've been ****ed up to let him do his presser then fire him, even though I won't shed a tear if Tony gets the boot.
I cant imagine Ross will keep Tony if Tony is going to maintain the same course of settling for field goals....being overly conservative. Sparano has got to realize this is a business as well....and for him to stay...theres gonna have to be a change in mindset.
Leopards don't change their spots. Tony is who he is. Ross needs to forget about "name" coaches. He either believes in Tony and Ireland enought o give them extensions and deal with the reuslting fury or he doesn't. If he doesn't, they have to go. It's that simple. A man of ross's business acumen should understand this. If Tony stays on as a lame duck the team is going to be getting booed at home from agme 1 and he will be an 0-2 starts away from being talked about being fired for the entire season. It's a disaster waiting to happen.
Well Ross can fire him now and start to turn this thing around or he can stick with it, lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in ticket sales and fire him next year out.
BULL****! THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!
But that will probably mean a firing mid-season next year. That is always a bad deal, because then you have a team, playing for an "interim-coach" who may or may not ever get the respect of his team. Its a setup for a disaster.
So I guess the odds are 40-60 that I will renew my season tickets next year. Because if Ross sticks with Sparano for another season. He can be 100% sure that he will have to find another buyer for the four season tickets I will not be purchasing next year.
Oh I agree and as a fan I dont wish that but if he makes the mistake of not making a change this is what will happen.
BOYCOTT! Thats what I'm talking about.... The same should happen to the Marlins. If they continue to cut loose good players when the new stadium open everyone should just not go. Boycott that *****! Miami Will Not Accept Mediocracy
I've been boycotting the Marlins ever since the present ownership purchased the team. I can't stand the owner or his nit-wit son-in-law. I haven't spent one penny going to see the Marlins since Henry sold the team to those Yokels. The Dolphins are another matter completely for me. I have been a fan since 1966 and a season ticket holder since 1970. So not renewing my tickets next year would be a very difficult thing for me to do. But I have made up my mind that I am sick of spending thousands of dollars every year and getting very little from the Dolphins in return during the last decade. I have already told my wife that if Ross doesn't make drastic changes to the organization. The $4,000 I spent this year attending Dolphin home games. Will be spent in California instead, next year. My other passion besides the Dolphins, is golf. So if I am not going to spend the money on the Dolphins. I will take the money and go stay in Carmel, California for a week. I'll be able to play Pebble Beach and some of the surrouding golf courses on the $4,000 I'll save on the Dolphins. I have played Pebble Beach a few times already. As much as I enjoy Pebble Beach and the surrouding golf courses. Obviously I would much rather be watching the Dolphins from my seats in the stadium next season. But that is up to the decision Ross makes in the next few days.
