http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/ YMMV, not sure what to make of Mando as I do not recall him speaking of or to Ross in the past, so why now only Mando claims to have information that no such conversation happened. Though Mando's claim seems worded oddly to me, something about "has NOT spoken to Ross" which could as easily mean Ireland spoke to Ross or several different things.
Well, Lombardi was specific that Parcells did the convincing. If ross and Parcells haven't spoken recently it makes Lombardi's report go out the window. I think Parcells just used Lombardi to get the story out there. He looks like a prince standing up for his guys and then if ross ends up firing he can simply say the guy changed his mind against my recommendation.
Disagree, no media type is going to just toss out false information as the source will have burned them when/if it turns out to be false, Lombardi is not some blogger out in the hinterlands he is a face on NFLN so with this one I am not sure who to buy, I suspect Armando does not have much access to either Ross or Tuna, so who could his source possibly be if not either of them?
Media members get used by sources all the time. Parcells may have told Lombardi the truth. He just neglects to mention that the conversation happened before the Bills game. Lombardi doesn't ask for any more specifics and reports it as if the conversation happened yesterday. If Lombardi believed it 100% he wouldn't have left himself the out of "well if things are really bad in NE things could change". and again, he didn;t report this big news on NFL Network. He saved it for a show that nobody watches
Oh yes he did..... It was on Total Access last night. His words were " I think Parcells did the goalie save" meaning Parcells spoke with Ross and convinced him to retain Sparano.
The other thing to keep in mind is, Armando rarely rarely breaks any news, as in, none that I can recall in the last 3 yrs, the local media never breaks information on the phins in general let alone some high level conversation between Steve Ross and Bill Parcells, so where is 'Mando coming up with this information? Nothing at all for 3 seasons, now he claims to have been informed about what was happening at the highest levels of the Franchise?
Not to get all lawyery on you, but is it really "breaking a news story" when Armando discredits some other "breaking news story"? Armando didn't really bring any news story to the table. He just shed light on a non-occurrence.
Not in this case as the only way he could know is if..someone high up in the Dolphins Administration told him..and that has heretofore not happened..in 3yrs, and the way he described the information smells fishy. "Parcells and Ross have not talked, so he could not have convinced Ross" How would he know they have not talked, geographical location? If so phones do work...
They didn't "talk". They texted. I don't even care. I doubt Ross would listen to someone who took his money and ran. I think he would consult Peterson first. His friend Peterson.
God forbid our former executive vice president and now paid consultant ever speak's to the owner... WTF is going on in this damn front office..
Easy to imagine any sort of scenario happening where information is leaked to gauge fan response. We didn't respond to it well yesterday. How easy would it be to provide some disinformation to Armando who would be all too eager too appear as the hero in this regard and give Ross an out. Either way they both cancel each other out and relegate either one as being just a rumor. We'll just have to wait and see.
BTW, up in Club Ronnin4fin posted a link to the Lombardi commentary and it does turn out that Tuna talked to Ross via..the telephone.. Hmm, Mando maybe is in another Cordereo situation here. FWIW, I like 'Mando's "Armando and the Amigo" morning show on 640am, fun stuff..."name the rat"..
I don't know whether it being over the phone supposedly has anything to do with it. Armando just said they haven't spoken. And Lombardi doesn;t share when this conversation supposedly took place. If 3 weeks ago Parcells convinced Ross to keep Sparano but then we lose to Buffalo and Detroit perhaps its no longer relevant. Further, Lombardi obviously got his info from Parcells, which means Parcells wants it out there for his own purposes.
well i dont believe armando. But it doesnt really matter. its not like Ross is going to make his decision based on what fans think. (thank god)
He shouldn't make his decision absed on what Bill Parcells thinks either. And no, he shouldn't make a decision absed on what the fans think, but you better figure out a way to sell that decision if you care about things like selling tickets and merchandise. Case in point, I'm a season ticket holder. On Tuesday I get a call from my ticket rep. Wanted to know if I enjoyed the stadium experience, etc., and wanted to know what changes I would make. I said except for the team, nothing. And she then proceeded to go into her spiel about how dissapointed they are in the season and that changes will be amde to ensure it doesn;t happen again, yadda yadda yadda. I then told her I would probably buy the tickets again. Yesterday, I hear that sparano is staying. If she had called me tonight, my answer might be different.
in your case that may be true, but unless 80% of the fans who don't go to dolphins games come out and say it's because Tony Sparano's the head coach, then Ross doesn't really have much of a reason to fire the guy. Ross himself threw his support behind Chad Henne in the offseason, so he cant come down too hard on Sparano for sticking with him. The team isn't in disarray or anything, they just blew a couple games at home. Has he done an amazing job? No. But Sparano isn't one of our problems. Henning is, the dropped INTs are, Henne not taking the next step, not having any speed on offense whatsoever, the oline disaster, etc. These are all bigger issues. Some of that is on Ireland.
Most of what you deem to be the problems are areas that the head coach is ultimately responsible for. But we'll see. I could probably live with Sparano if we got a legitimate QB.
Who would I believe? Michael Lombardi 100 out od 100 times in a situation like this, I believe what he reported was told to him directly , period.
Isn't this the same Armando that "high-5'ved" when the Dolphins lost a few years ago ? I'm not sure I want to believe anything that creep says.
Armando never even mentions why he doesn't believe they spoke. All he says is he is reporting that they didn't. No "according to ..... or even an "a dolphin official who wanted to remain anonymous". This blog just screams of Armando getting scoped again and trying to discredit the person who did it. Its kind of like when someone comes on here and creates a post about an inside source. Half the responses are sarcastic "My inside source says..."
