When was the last time we had fair weather? It's been monsoon season since the 90s!

Well, most forget we actually won a playoff game in 2000---I was there---and made the playoffs 4 years in a row, 98-2001. Things began to go downhill when we got Saban and it's been pretty much an unmitigated disaster ever since with the exception of 2008. If Fins fans were truly fair-weather, they wouldn't have anyone at any of the games other than fans of the opposing team.

BTW, we are a developed animal...we don;t only hate our bad players...we hate our good ones too.

On more than a few occasions, I have heard Dolphin fans screaming crap at Sean Smith before games.

    I almost forgot about that.

I think I was 11 or 12 years old then. And it killed me to hear it.

I don't partake, but going after your own is on another level than giving it to an opposing player.

When it gets down to it, these are young men. They're PEOPLE. Too often we lose sight of that.

And in this case they're people that have given a pretty strong effort for most of the season. You can say a lot of things about this team, but they've played hard even when they've been out of contention.

fandom has changed over the years. i know when i was a kid it was more about going to the game and having the experience. now there are alot of fans that feel they "deserve a win" because they paid money. i have never understood that kind of thinking. you root for a win but nowhere on your ticket does it say you will get one.

Oh so its because of how the fans chanted that made them decide to throw a 2 yard out pass with 19 secs left and no timeouts.

Thanks for that clarification, Channing, you overpaid asshat.

These Dolphins need to realize that Dolphins fans EXPECT more. We are accustomed to WINNING, even if we haven't done it in 30+ years. We do not ACCEPT mediocrity, and unfortunately this team isn't even mediocre.

Even at Ricky's worst when he walked away from the team he was more of a player than Crowder could dream of. Ricky' words carry more weight because of how he has played. Crowder is all gum flapping and yapping which is typical of the program he came out of.

There's this thing about products. If you buy it an don't like it, don't buy it again. If you keep buying it, you don't have a right to get angry. Imagine walking into Coca-Cola HQ and booing John on the assembly line because the cap was dented and let the carbon out. It would be pretty dumb and do nothing to make him work better.

I'm crazy. After we lost to the Steelers and Ravens, I told two guys who play on the same football team as me that are Steeler and Raven fans that their teams sucked. I don't give a **** what the record is, if you're not the Miami Dolphins you suck. If you play in a Miami Dolphin uniform, you are the best on the field. When you switch team you're the scum of the earth. Save for a few franchises like the Seahawks that I would cheer for if there were no Dolphins, you suck. Any other baseball team? You suck! Basketball? You suck! If you're not a Miami Dolphin player, you suck. As long as you wear the teal and white, you don't suck. Once you're cut or traded, you suck. I've never seen a game where I didn't think we could win it.

Football tickets are a small fortune now. That probably has something to do with. If I went to a Braves game and they stunk no sweat. I paid maybe 50 bucks a ticket and that was for pretty good seats. Hearing what it costs to get season tickets makes me understand why people get so upset about 1-7.

There's only so long I accept a sub standard product without letting someone know about it.
I don't ask for a perfect sandwich every time I go to get one, but if for three years I get a crap
sandwich, I think the deli manager needs to find another line of work, because he sure ain't a
    sandwich maker.

I don't mind when people are right up front with me in my job if they think I'm doing a bad job.

I rarely ever agree with anything that Crowder has to say but he is right about this team's fair weather fans. The fans of this team are a bunch of whiny crybabies who think they are deserved something all the time. Ross has to share a bit of the blame here by setting the expectations too high before the season. Comparing Henne to Marino and saying this team was SB material. I can see where the uneducated partial fair weather fan would buy into the garbage he was spewing. Both years I have been here this board bought into the same crap. Then you have the hey we are going to win out people at the end of the season believing that this team after parking itself into a corner is going to one day wake up and be playoff material. It pains me to say this but my experience with Dolphin fans leaves me to say that most are just irrational knuckle dragging mouth breathers who are clueless to what is actually happening. You want it so bad that you force it and when it doesn't happen you want to push the button and blow up the world. Just because you buy a ticket doesn't mean you are deserved anything. If you hate the experience then by all means stay home and save your money. The display by the fans yesterday was one of the most classless things I have seen since the Browns fans cheered a Tim Couch injury. If you hate Henne that much then why go to Dolphins game. The over reaction by the fanbase leaves me embarrassed to be a Dolphin fan these days. I have been around this team damn near 40 years and the quality of fan has dwindled down to internet babies who all think they are right. They get on the internet and play tough guy GM and then go to the games and exude frustration like they have some kind of magical powers. Those of you who participated in the chant when the game was on the line should be ashamed of yourself. Not only should you no longer have the right to root for the Dolphins but the sport in general. It was a low form of expression that only brings out the things I previously mentioned. Classlessness in it's finest form.

yeah that and free agency. before free agency fans had to be patient because the only way you could build was through the draft and trading and that took a long time. now people give teams three years to build a playoff caliber team or they demand heads roll. its a shame in a way. i think the demand for winning and winning quickly has taken out some of the joy of just watching football on a sunday afternoon for nothing more than the sake of watching football. at the end of the day i love the game more than my team but i think for some fans its the other way around

You're paying to witness an event, not to affect the outcome of an event. I never understood the idea of "well I paid a lot of money for a win!" mentality because it's unrealistic, IMO. Someone has to lose in order for someone to win.

Sadly Channing is right...just not for the right reason. I dont think booing makes you a fairweather fan. It means your ticked off at the crap your looking at during that time. "Henne Sucks" on the chance for the final winning drive, thats pretty low.

There are a TON of fairweather dolphins fans though, need proof, look no further than our message boards right here. One week people think Henne is it, then next he sucks. Before we had Brandon Marshall he was a trouble making average reciever. Once we got him we were on our way to the superbowl. Channing Crowder is average....then were so much better with Channing.

We sold out every game this year....how many butts actually got in the seats??

There are a ton of examples. There are a lot of people though that actually are real true live and die with the team. A lot of those people are right here on this board. I just wish we were at the point now where we could be complaining about people jumping on the bandwagon, and not talk about the weather.

Do you not agree that berating the deli manager while he makes your sandwich is probably a bad idea?

Luckily football isn't food preparation, otherwise you'd probably have food poisoning.

The point is, the people going after Henne in that situation willingly forfeited their desire to win. If you hope/know that he hears you, you're attempting to negatively influence his play.

Down seven with a minute left, I'd expect more out of the home crowd.

    Exactly.

All the players owe you on Sunday is their best effort. That's all they can give.

You can boo it and send a message if you wish. We all yell and get upset when the team falls apart in the fourth quarter. But if he's giving you optimum preparation during the week and maximum effort on Sunday, he doesn't owe you a god **** thing more.

And while we're at it, how about a little acknowledgment for a guy who we all thought was lost for the season with a torn up knee....still suiting up week after week taking snaps. Pretty sure most of us wouldn't do that. Good salary or not.

Wow, if he talks trash like this about people who pay money to go watch him and his team play, imagine what he says on the field? Maybe McClain spitting in his face was warranted. You can tell Crowder was a spoiled brat growing up because he doesn't like getting criticized for under-performing especially at the professional level. For me personally, especially at the pro level of sports, one wrong thing said can change my support and Crowder has lost my support. I know I'm only one fan and this doesn't make any difference but he's now a waste of time to me.

I have been attending Dolphin home games as a season ticket holder for close to 40 years. While I have no problem expressing my anger at the play of the Dolphins. I don't boo or yell such things as a particular player, sucks. I will just express my thoughts to my wife, daughter,son-in-law, and other season ticket holders who sit around us which I have known for years. While I don't personally boo and yell at the players. It doesn't bother me when others express their anger with the team in this manner. Dolphin fans have been really frustrated with the play of the Dolphins for over a decade. Except in 2008. Fans who actually take the time and spend the money to attend these games. Have every right to express their anger at the team by booing the team if they wish. I have attended games in almost every other NFL stadium. I have heard fans from other teams frequntly boo the play of their own team. Anyone who thinks that Steeler fans, Cowboy fans, and Packer fans, are any more tolerant of their teams when they are playing badly, doesn't know what they are talking about. Football fans by nature are vocal in regards to the play of their team. They root hard and cheer the team when it is doing well. They are disappointed and verbally express their displeasure when the team is not playing well. I may not agree with individuals who yell that a particular player, "sucks". But after the play of this team over the last decade. I can certainly understand why so many fans who pay good money to attend these home games, are extremely frustrated.

You are upset about his comments about the fans but you have been giving him a pass on his lack of play for the past six years? Wow your priorities sure are in a much different place than mine. I think Channing finally stepped up and said something intelligent that more than needed to be said. Dolphin fans are so fair weather it's not even funny. When Parcells came here instantly we were going to be a champion.... When Nick Saban came here instantly we were going to be a champion...... When Brandon Marshall comes here we have a big name WR we are going to win a SB. It doesn't work that way.
I think the fan base is mainly made up of player fans and fans who love big names.

    It's very sad.

As near as I can see it, Channing Crowder has been drawing a fat paycheck for - what most consider to be - a lollying performance at best. If I were he, I think the last thing I would do would be to draw additional attention to myself. Every year we buy into the hype that we have the new formula and this will be the year that we are returned to our rightful place among the AFC elite, and every year we are let down by people like him. That hardly sounds like a bunch of fair weather fans.

Everyone loves a winner - no one loves a wiener. Good bye Channing; you are injury prone, overrated, overpaid and have a big mouth that is now running faster than your brain.
