How would you guys feel about bringing in Cam Cameron as an offensive coordinator? He wasn't a good head coach, but he is a very good OC.
He won't be available to us. Norv Turner or Al Saunders would be good choices though. There's something that just doesn't make sense with Henne. Why is it that for two years straight he's just not the same quarterback when he's ahead in games as he is when he's behind by a close margin. 1-7 points down is probably the most difficult stage to pass in football. Henne's at his best then. UNBELIEVABLE. I just checked Pennington's stats in 2008. He was incredible when behind way over a 100+ passer rating. He was a 81 when ahead. I checked Pennington in 2007 with the Jets. He was ten points BETTER when ahead then behind. In 2006 he was 40 points BETTER when ahead. He was at his worst when behind by 1-7 points. That can't be coincidence. Three years straight of QBs playing at their best when they're behind by 1-8 and playing poorly while ahead. That can't be coincidence. In addition to that the repeated nonsense play action, the Wildcat interruptions to good drives, the piss poor personnel packages when our best package was a 3 WR set with Fasano all year? ****ing Henning sabotaged not only the year but Henne's development. Henne has his flaws, I'll tell you that much but had he played like a 88 rating QB that he's been for two consecutive years when behind by 1-8, Miami would be in the playoffs. I just don't understand it. How do you change two QBs (one being an especially strong veteran) into mistake scared children and not think that's a problem? I'm restarting a Henne bandwagon till we get a significantly better option as QB. I'm not talking about a Mallet or Locker or some non-sense QB. Andrew Luck or bust. Just this past week Henne didn't get going until Buffalo was ahead. How the heck do you expect to beat teams when you go into this kind of mode with your quarterbacks. Sometimes your defense holds, sometimes it doesn't. Even beyond that how do you establish rhythm with this guy when he's getting destroyed by his own fans, his coaches, and right now his protection packages. This is a ****bag. A young flawed QB, a poor QB coach, a terrible OC, and a conservative coach. Drew Brees would have been a mediocre 85 QB rating passer under this nonsense. Add in the lack of any sort of running game. Well now **** you're really screwed.
Really ? You're more trusting than I am. FA Wilford (bust), FA Grove (overspent & gone), Turner (bust), FA Smiley (gone), Pat White (bust), Donald Thomas (bust), couldn't see the Matt Ryan upside, and the list goes on & on. You really trust this guy to rebuild the offense ? His record since he has been here has been horrendous on offense.
Ireland built the defense for sure, but to trust him with rebuilding the offense is IMO not smart. Now that he has done his job, tell him a thank you, and don't let the door hit your a** on the way out. Now go get an offensive minded GM.
Well like I said, he isn't perfect. Hell even Belichick has made some bad decisions. But since he did such a great job with the defense I'm confident he can do so with the offense this offseason.
-------------------->gone: Sparano, Henning & Henne the return of Cameron as OC with pick up of Carson Palmer @ QB & Bill Cowher as Head Coach you just never know things happen Sweet !
I hope we attack your fantasy world with nukes. Cameron? Again? **** THAT GUY. And Carson Palmer never recovered from his knee injury. Dante Culpepper, again.
When considering a new offensive Coordinator I would look at the top offenses in the NFL. Pats Eagles Chargers Colts Falcons Giants Saints Packers Ravens Texans Steelers I don't know if we can steal the offensive coordinator from one of those teams but I would go after an assistant head coach who isn't a coordinator yet or a quarterbacks coach. Bill O'Brien is New England's QB coach. He was an OC at Georgia Tech and Duke. He would be my first target. John Ramsdell is San Diego's QB coach. He also worked with Kurt Warner when he was with the Rams. Joe Lombardi is the QB coach for the Saints. He has a Super Bowl ring and he's the grandson of Vince Lombardi. Jim Zorn is Baltimore's QB coach. He flamed out as a head coach but might be a good OC. Here are the quarterbacks for those top offenses. Tom Brady Michael Vick Philip Rivers Drew Brees Aaron Rogers Peyton Manning Eli Manning Matt Ryan Joe Flacco Matt Shaub Ben Roethlisberger It seems pretty obvious that you need an elite QB if you want one of the best offenses in the NFL. The majority of those guys were drafted by the team they're playing for. Vick has a unique situation. We know the story with Brees all too well. The Falcons were foolish to let go of Shaub and I'm sure they regretted it... Until they drafted Ryan. So how do the Dolphins get an elite QB? Well, most likely we need to draft one. If the Panthers end up with the first pick in the draft would they take Jake Locker even though they already have Jimmy Clausen? If they were willing to trade I would give them our 1st round pick this year as well as next year's 1st round pick plus a player like Ronnie Brown or Chad Henne. Yeah it would suck giving all that up. But we would finally have our guy. If we miss on Locker than I would go after Cam Newton just as aggressively. Departing players: Who knows? Depends on whether or not Sparano and Ireland are still here next year. I wouldn't miss Henne, Berger, or Crowder. Definitely have to keep Marshall, Bess, Long, Jerry, Carey, Garner, Starks, Soliai, Langford, Odrick, McDaniel, Dansby, Misi, Wake, Davis, Smith, Allen, Bell, Clemons, Jones, Edds, and Fields. Probably Carpenter too. And of course Denney. That's an excellent core of players to build around. Personally I would keep Ronnie Brown too unless he has trade value. It would not surprise me if he led the league in rushing playing for another team. Incoming Players: A quarterback. One via free agency and one or two via the draft. A center. Probably a wideout and a running back too. First Round Pick: A quarterback unless we hire Dave Wannstedt as our head coach again.
Also found this interesting. The Patriots have scored the most points in the NFL this season. 446 points. Their opponents have scored 303 points against them. The Dolphins have only had 261 points scored against them this season. The difference is we have only put up 239 points. Is it any wonder everybody in Miami wants a new quarterback and a completely revamped offense? Pats 446 points scored Eagles 412 points scored Chargers 388 points scored Colts 381 points scored Falcons 369 points scored Giants 360 points scored Cowboys 354 points scored Saints 354 points scored Raiders 353 points scored Texans 333 points scored Packers 333 points scored Ravens 324 points scored Titans 322 points scored Chiefs 322 points scored Jags 319 points scored Lions 308 points scored Steelers 307 points scored Jets 295 points scored Bears 293 points scored Broncos 292 points scored Bengals 281 points scored Bucs 280 points scored Seahawks 279 points scored Bills 273 points scored Redskins 268 points scored Rams 258 points scored Cardinals 255 points scored Browns 252 points scored 49ers 250 points scored Vikings 244 points scored Dolphins 239 points scored Panthers 183 points scored Packers 220 points allowed Steelers 220 points allowed Bears 242 points allowed Ravens 253 points allowed Jets 259 points allowed Chargers 260 points allowed Falcons 261 points allowed Dolphins 261 points allowed Saints 270 points allowed Browns 271 points allowed Chiefs 281 points allowed Titans 282 points allowed Giants 288 points allowed Bucs 290 points allowed Rams 295 points allowed Pats 303 points allowed 49ers 314 points allowed Vikings 314 points allowed Lions 329 points allowed Raiders 330 points allowed Eagles 339 points allowed Colts 342 points allowed Redskins 343 points allowed Panthers 350 points allowed Bills 353 points allowed Bengals 362 points allowed Seahawks 363 points allowed Jags 365 points allowed Cardinals 370 points allowed Texans 386 points allowed Cowboys 396 points allowed Broncos 415 points allowed
