If Palmer left, he could end up here because as I have said numerous times the Chad Henne experiment ended the play Pennington hurt his arm. The only reason he is playing is because Pennington got hurt. Unfortunately for him he is done end of year. I will even go as far as saying he may be traded in the off season. That is how sure I am. I just hope we look for someone other then Palmer.
I love how the same people using all these excuses for Palmer completely disregard these EXACT same things when discussing Henne with others.
Wait, are we counting Palmer's TD's thrown to the opposing team? I count at least 4. Henne threw one to Eric Weddle in week 3 last year and hasn't done it again since.
Uh huh. What are the Lotto numbers for this week? Who's winning the World Series? I'll split the winnings with you 50/50. Or does your omnipotence not extend past Chad Henne's future?
Hmm, that is a false comparison, picking winning lottery numbers is nearly impossible. predicting Henne's future is much much easier..
Odd, seem to recall: Eugene Chung taking a pick six back to the hacienda Int to adams returned down to the 1 vs the Browns with a minute to go handing the Brownies a playoff hope crushing win. Henne has 3 more games.
You're right. Henne has two in his career. Palmer had two LAST WEEK. Peyton threw 2 Pick 6s in back to back weeks, 11 picks in a 3 weeks span, now that's hard to do right there.
McNabb is to the Redskins as Palmer would be to the Dolphins. Palmer is done. Has been for about 3 years now. If the coaching staff wants to bring him in as a backup, that's fine, but if they want to upgrade the QB position, that's not the way to go.
You are blind and rarely have the ability to see beyond the stats. I already said that I would not trade BM and Bess for CO-Cinco or TO. I would take Shipley over any of our other WRs, especially your boy Roberto Wallace. Same with Gresham, a very good Receiving TE. And guess what Einstein, when you are behind every game, your RB probably will not rack up yards, so your stats are meaningless
Actually I hate stats and "invented" the term "Stat Monkey" or "Stat Monkery", the only good use for stats is a straight up, head to head comparison between "player Y" vs "player X" and performance over time. My point is that offense is just not that good, no one thought to mention comparing our talent vs the bengals talent is a "cripple fight" redux, they both are terrible, but for different reasons, the Bengals defense has spent most of the yr handing 10 pt deficits to the offense, the miami offense has spent most of the yr handing 3 and outs to the defense or scoring field goals.
because Palmer had a 100+ rating 72 years ago, that's how he's still regarded=== as if he's 1 season away from rekindling everything. I love how optimistic people can be about a washed-up guy who isn't even a Dolphin, yet could give 2 craps about a young QB who is already donning our uniform and performing as well as the vet in question. Fuel to the fire>>>> watching Jets outcast QB Pennington lead us to the playoffs during the most creampuff schedule any team has faced in the history of the NFL AND when the Pats had no Brady. Las Vegas LOVES people like these. lol. j/k to all who are offended by this comment.
I don't know whether to laugh or sigh when hearing people wanting Palmer. On one hand, people complain that we cant find a QB after years and years of crap........ then on the other hand, you have these same group of people wanting to give up on a 2nd year QB and go right back to doing what we've been doing the past 10 years---- sifting through mud looking for gold. Anyone want to know how this story ends??>>>>> see 1999 to 2007..... then simply repeat it again. Weee!!! Cant wait!!
Thought this was a informative thread from a Bengals forum: http://boards.bengals.com/showthread.php?t=75784 They have pretty much the same questions and concerns as well as good points as we have in this thread. Good point about how badly Palmer has been injured while playing for the Bengals and why he is correct in not accepting a pay cut after going through all of it.
Maybe I'm still clinging to what the guy could have been but I'm not completely opposed to it Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
I don't see much in Palmer. I see him being slightly better than Chad Henne, but if he is, it isn't by much. We're going to have to find one through the draft or bring a guy that can be successful in a particular system. Maybe Chad Henne flourishes in a new system? I don't know. All I know is that what we have right now isn't working. If the coaches feel it's Henne, which from the pressers and information being leaked out since training camp, the coaches feel like it is or it's the coordinator--something has to change. I'm not excited about Chad Henne at all right now. However, Carson Palmer doesn't give me interest at all or make me feel like that will provide a difference. I think I'd rather have Chad Henne and continue to develop him rather than take that chance. The option that gives me a little interest is bringing in Donovan McNabb but as long as it's with the caveat of bringing in a WCO guy that runs the same system Donovan ran in Philadelphia. All that along with keeping Henne and drafting another QB in the draft and have them learn under Donovan and the best of them wins when Donovan's time passes. Even that idea is something I'm not very keen on. Not much hope for me and this offense right now--not without a QB anyways.
If he's willing to sign small contract and prove his worth I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Carson and having him compete with Henne next offseason. I absolutely do NOT want Drama McNabb anywhere near this team.
Thank God for this defense. With a new OC, an improved Oline, a better RB, and at least 1 upgrade in our receiving game (via WR or TE), there's no reason we couldn't put up a few more pts/game with Henne that would go a long way when combined with our nasty defense IMO. We don't need a lot on offense; IMO we only need a FEW more opportunities (a few more big runs, a few more big passes, and a few more short field opportunities...... none of which we've seen much of this year)
For a reasonable contract, he'd be a great vet to bring in here IMO...... with "reasonable" being the operative word.
Signing Carson Palmer yea thats the solution to this teams woes... I can't believe this thread has 6 pages worth of posts.
